If it is all about championships, why not keep Betts this year and see if our “bruise as easy as bananas” (aka our starting pitchers) have a comeback year!
Lord knows they can not (as a group) be more pathetic than they were last year!
I think we start the season as is with this team right now.
If the starting pitching is not healthy or continues to under perform, you move a lot of pieces at the trade deadline for prospects.
I do not think hang’em Chaim is really interested in moving Betts.
My guess is he listens when people call, but would be content with (at best) a July deal or (at worst) a draft pick, if our pitching is living up to their paychecks!
So maybe hang’em chaim should have been looking to dump jd for pennies on the dollar this past off season?
Rule number 1 - do not trade homegrown players.
Hang’em Chaim has been dangling bait all offseason and no one is biting!
Plan b should be to let’s get all our pitchers healthy and use spring training to properly prepare them for the regular season and let’s go take our crown back!
Interesting how history repeats itself. At the start of the 1920’s we sold 2/3’s of our team to the Yankees and we went into an 86 year tailspin,
Now at the start of the 2020’s are we about trade off most of our team and start another tailspin?
Yahoo sports reports that if a team wants to trade for Betts, they have to take price and give up two top prospects.
I think I understand why hang ‘em chaim’s cell phone has cobwebs on it.
Donaldson’s signing with the twins leaves a big hole at third base for Atlanta.
We should have the ability to move devers and price and all of price’s salary to Atlanta for a boatload of their prospects!
Not ideal, but solves a lot of problems for us.
One report says the Sox are not actively shopping Betts.
Another report says Sox and Dodgers talking about Betts.
Another report says sox want to add price to the Betts deal.
Mixed messages?
The more time that goes by, the easier it is to believe that the real brains in the Tampa front office is the guy that runs their analytics department and not hang ‘em chaim!
Was that Henry exiting then dragon spa in Miami last week with Robert Kraft? Could be the only happy ending those two are getting for the next 12 months!!!!
