  1. You make some good points here and I have felt all along that he has been handcuffed by John Henry. I remember the talk when Bloom was hired that he would bring a balanced approach coming from Tampa in that he would cut costs but be able to spend when needed as this is not a small market like Tampa. So he DID cut payroll drastically but he has still spent some $$ although I am not sure how well he spent those $$. His big sign was Story who in my view was an UNMITIGATED disaster. I think most of us believe that signing was made because they knew they would not be keeping Xander. All that aside my biggest disappointment has been his inability to add any young quality SP. That was and still is one of Tampa's strengths but Bloom brought none of that to Boston. IMO he could have used the Mookie trade, and trading our impending FA'S from last year who all walked for next to nothing. He has also not used any high draft picks to add quality young pitching. This is his biggest fault in my view and I don't see any pitching prospects he has brought in as close to MLB ready. I think our farm system although improved on his watch is over-rated. I'd fire him after this year but have little faith that any new GM can do any better under this ownership's current philosophy.
  2. PS does it ever not rain in Boston ????
  3. Not a chance. Nothing like rushing the kid. Let him play AA next year and AAA in 2025 with a September callup.
  4. Prepare to be extremely bummed then. I think they will be in on Yamamoto but likely get outbid. If that happens I can see them going after 1 of Snell, Nola, Geay or Montgomery but settle for the last one to be signed in hopes of a discount. I am not sure any of those guys will be worth what they will likely get.
  5. Ummm Martin has already been used in this game
  6. Sox 0/17 with RISP in both games today so far
  7. not even following this discussion but certainly no need for this reply
  8. i would not be holding my breath
  9. Yah but just how much of that Bloom will be allowed to spend is the $64,000 question.
  10. Maybe Cora BUT NOT Bloom. Henry is thrilled with him.
  11. if it wasn't for Crawford's funky delivery I doubt he is even in Boston.
  12. Yamamoto is a must sign IMO. then and only then we sign Snell [1} or Nola {2}. I like Gray but he is getting up there in age. I f we dont get Yamamoto then I dont sign any of those other 4 because on their own they won't make enough of a difference. Out of your 2nd group of ideas I stay FAR FAR away from Strohman and i doubt Kershaw signs anywhere but LA. No way E-Rod comes back to Boston and I don't see any of the others worth the cost it would take to sign any of them.
  13. tell me who is trading a #1 SP for an unproven albeit very promising prospects??
  14. Or simply not allow ourselves to be outbid on Yamamoto.
  15. i think I have been saying that all along
  16. A permanent move to the BP for 2024 would be best.
  17. Yoshida was not that bad a signing
  18. maybe you should give it to Bloom
  19. it is not going to happen Splinter. Sox will win enough meaningless games over the final 3 weeks to mess up their draft position and next June Bloom will draft another HS SS with our 1st rd pick and his apologists on here will praise his selection.
  20. dont give that info to Moonslav
  21. And your point is???? Was your hero Bloom here for any of our 4 WS titles.
  22. The only thing that really matters is that the Sox will have missed the playoffs 3 of the 4 seasons Bloom has been in charge. Yes he has added depth to the farm but next to none of it is pitching and no matter what anyone says pitching is the most important part of the game. I really don’t care how many good positive players we have in A or AA. Other than C position players can be picked up in the FA market much cheaper than quality pitching- superstar FA.s aside
