    and the dominos are starting fall. Missed out on Schwarber and couldn't even keep Matz. traded Grissom for a M/L OF who in effect was the trade for Sale. But hey it's not about cutting payroll isn't it?

    sorry about the multiple posts. not sure it went through so i guess i sent it more than once my bad.. those guys are likely minor upgrades but none of them excite me that much. i am sick to death of all these 1 year deals. Myself i'd rather just see us go with our own home grown guys than bring in more 1 yr rentals.

    I don't see the Sox getting Alonso. I think they will simply hope for a Casas rebound and save the $$. They may circle back and sign Bregman late to placate RSN after missing out on the big fish. This has certainly been how they have operated these past several off-seasons.

    something i have not see mentioned anywhere is how Bregman may/will hold up things for the Sox. We all know that Bora$$ likes to take his time making decisions. I think things will finally start to heat up in the coming weeks and if we wait on Bregman we could be left with a bag of coal come Christmas.

    i am fine with trading Crawford, Dobbins, and Harrison but I dont think they bring back that much unless we add Duran or Abreu. I would keep Duran out of those 2 mainly for the speed.

    just keep BOTH Tolle and Early. Mayer can handle 2B or Story could slide to 2B and Mayer at short. We FINALLY have some quality young SP depth in the system -let's not give it away for a 32 yr old 2B.

    I like Early but 14 ip is hardly a sample size to even consider. It makes about as much as pencilling in Sandal for a rotation spot.

    Especially that after trading Teel it is an organizational weakness.

    They can hardly afford to deal Bello. He may not be a #2 but he he is at least a #3 and is a step up from the other options save possibly Gray. I have no idea how the Sox can pencil in Sandoval into the rotation given his lengthy absence due to injury.

    it depends on what your idea of competitive is. The team has never totally stunk in those 7 years and JH has continued to reap big profits. This offseason has started just like the last several ones--spend on good but not great talent and go on 1 or 2 MAX yr deals and take flyers on rehabbing SP. With Bregman at least temporarily off the books and Devers totally off this team has PLENTY to spend. Even if Bregman is brought back it will be for far less than 40 million per and he along with the inevitable good but not great bat will be enough to simply keep the team competitive.

    JH is satisfied as long as the team is competitive and he is making money.

    if that is the plan then fine but I seriously doubt it. This offseason is shaping up just like the last 3-4. Bring in some decent but not top talent on short term deals and then watch them leave. It is POSSIBLE they resign Bregman but that would almost certainly be the one "big" bat they acquire. Schwarber IMO is nothing but a pipe dream and Alonso too unless somehow Casas is traded. Sox are almost always in on the big names in FA but rarely land one.
