  1. It’s just not 1B. The Red Sox used 11 2B last year, and how many SS have they tried the last three years?
  2. I’ve got a Novel idea. How about getting an actual 1B to play 1B, or better yet already having an actual 1B in the system who would be ready to go in situations like this, or last year, or 2023. Cora mentioned the other day all the 1B the Red Sox have tried at 1B since 2021 with Flintstone Schwarber, and then on to the likes of Franchy Strange Glove, and Arroyo. Casas is been brittle as they come, and yet no actual 1B backup was available to go. Romy, Toro, sogard, and neither of Campbell, or the much talked about Raffy are 1B, and now they are talking about learning the job on the fly with Campbell, or if posters on here had their way the much ragged on Raffy. Just poor roster construction to me in more ways than one. By all accounts the Red Sox tried to trade Casas this past offseason. Cora doesn’t want Raffy at 1B IMO, so what was the plan if that would have happened?
  3. Even if KC is moved to 1B I don’t think it’s a guarantee that Mayer gets called up. The Red Sox May go with DHam at 2B for a while, and see what happens. They may think DHam is a better option in the lineup than Toro, or Sogard. Bringing Mayer up to play 2B with Campbell at 1B having 2 rookies playing out of position might not be as good of an option as most on here think. One of the Woo’s broadcasters was voicing that opinion this morning, and he’s seen everyone mentioned play.
  4. Would Devers, or Bregman get more RBI opportunities batting 4th, or 5th? I don’t think it really matters what actual position they occupy in the batting order unless you have runners being on base ahead of you. Batting 2nd, and third May get you an extra AB in any one game.
  5. I would leave Devers, and Bregman right where they are in the batting order, because both are not only getting the RBI opportunities where they are, but they are both driving them in. One big problem is whomever has batted 4th has pretty much sucked, and now KC, Story are just black holes wherever they are hitting.
  6. It was hard to judge Houck who went back, and forth between Sarting, closing, and BP, and also had a couple of injuries along the way. Last year, he stayed healthy, stayed in the rotation, and piled up his most innings.
  7. It took him 32 pitches to get through an inning the other night to, so his control hasn’t been all that great either.
  8. Bello, and Houck have really put a damper on things. Whit too.
  9. You don’t hear as much about Bailey’s effect on the pitching staff this year. On paper this team should be better even with injuries to the rotation, but it’s that situational stuff that gets you every time.
  10. Different day, and a different angle to the story. At least Raffy doesn’t seem bothered by the turmoil, and is pounding the ball around.
  11. Interesting, but there seem to be some front office talk from Cora a couple of years ago when he was telling reporters he was going to safe when Bloom was getting the boot.
  12. Huh? Brez I believe wants Raffy at 1B, and I believe Cora does not, and that’s why Cora said he wasn’t going to talk with Raffy about it. Also IMO JH just didn’t fly to KC to talk with Raffy, but Cora, and Brez as well. At the moment i haven’t heard of any movement of Raffy towards 1B except after he’s hit the ball.
  13. Most likely will outlast Brez too, and may even take Brez’s job, or be his boss.
  14. I mentioned trading him this past offseason when his value was high coming off last season, but it wasn’t received to well on here.
  15. You can look at it anyway you want, but IMO Cora sees things a lot differently than you, and most others do regarding the Raffy situation, and at the moment it looks like his say courtesy of JH.
  16. A year ago at this time the Red Sox were 23-24, and 9 games back of both the Yankees, and O’s. This year not only is the A.L. East the weakest it’s been in years, but the whole American League itself, so where the Red Sox reside in the standings this year with their losing record doesn’t look as bad. Boston hasn’t gotten better, but the division, and league has come back down to them. What a low bar this is that the Red Sox can’t get over.
  17. Good post as always Max, and I agree with you on Raffy. He’s been pretty much chastised on here, and I’ve been one of the few on his side, and I’m not even a Devers Forevers guy.
  18. That’s an easy one. I haven’t sat in on any closed door meetings lately, but I did hear an interview with with Cora when Cora was asked if he had talked with Raffy about moving to 1B, and Cora said NO. Cora was then asked if he intended to talk with Raffy about moving to 1B, and again Cora answered NO. This is pretty well known, and has been talked about more than once on here. In other words it’s not only news, but old news. 🤭
  19. Another bench day for KC who’s been really struggling, and DHam has started to hit a little bit, so good move.
  20. Ok I’ll agree with you on the points you are making, but those things just don’t matter that much to me. Rico was a good enough SS to me as was the Rooster.
  21. Yes we agree that Both Story, and Bregman were coming to new teams who already had established players at the positions they normally play, and the same with ARod.
