  1. I understand how the whole thing works, but I really don’t see how the Phillies would be better off with Masa, and Hicks than with Harper. I understand Hicks was a salary dump for SF to get Raffy.
  2. Lots of times I post what I think the Red Sox will do, and not what I would like to see them do. I would like to see the Red Sox sign both Flintstone, and Alonso, but I see zero chance of that happening. I guess I’m in a I’ll believe it when I see it mode, so I’ll just wait ,and see how it all turns out. Brez has proven he’s not afraid to make a move, so I expect something to happen, but just not to big.
  3. There is always this taking back Masa, and Hicks on here, and I see very little chance that any team out there would take one let alone both of them. I’ve seen all kinds of predictions out there for Alonso from 3-4 yrs to 7 yrs. I also don’t see Harper going anywhere.
  4. It’s how the Red Sox see it that counts. I think the Red Sox see it as why spend if you don’t have to. You see as what you would want to see, and the Red Sox are going see it the way they look at things, and most likely they are not going to be the same.
  5. I don’t think he would come cheap, and I believe to many years left on that contract for the Red Sox taste.
  6. I would say something like this would be more likely than some of the other options I’ve seen thrown out there.
  7. I’ve seen all kinds of different options thrown out there on what the Red Sox should do, but I still don’t see the Red Sox signing any big FA contracts for anyone unless it’s a Bregman type signing, or for Bregman himself. If Bregman leaves it wouldn’t surprise me at all that Mayer takes over at 3B, and the rest of the positions are filled from within. What’s the plan for KC? He’s got a contract, so now they have to find him a place to play. A trade for pitching is more likely than a FA signing.
  8. I doubt they deal Hicks, because I don’t see anyone else wanting him, and he was a salary dump for SF. If Campbell gets traded I don’t think it would be, because he was rushed up to Boston, and struggled after early success. He’s a man without a position, and if traded hopefully the trade brings back pitching.
  9. I agree on this. If the Red Sox get Bregman to stay hopefully no more than 4 years I think that would be the extent of anymore high money expenditures. Bichette’s contract most likely would be to long, and expensive.
  10. I think the starting pitching especially Crochet, Bello, and Gio being good over an extended period of time had a lot more to do with the winning record than Devers leaving.
  11. Fortunately, or unfortunately whatever the case may be you can’t make the deal for both sides, and I don’t see Bloom making that trade at all.
  12. Would you make that deal if you were STL? You probably spend more time trying to unload Hicks, and Masa than Brez does. I get it, but i don’t believe there are to many takers out there that want either Masa, or Hicks let alone both even if they save some money, or not.
  13. It’s not just relying on so many young players, but relying on them to be good, which most likely all will not turn out as good as many on here have been dreaming about for years now. Mookie, Bogey, and Raffy all won championships playing for the Red Sox, and all turned out being good players. How many of the current crop of youngsters will be as good, and how many of championships will they win? Time will tell. Anything short of Championships after all the hype will be a failure IMO. Casas, and Mayer has broken down at early ages, which isn’t a good sign.
  14. I agree. The three years Bregman signed for originally was the right amount of years IMO.
  15. Agree 1000%. I said back in ST that if Campbell was going to be the Red Sox 2B he should be strictly play 2B, and not spending time in the OF. Especially since Campbell doesn’t have that good of a glove to begin with. He Still doesn’t have a position either.
  16. If Bregman isn’t signed in the first place then Raffy most likely is still the Red Sox 3B. The whole Raffy fiasco to me was what led Brez to trade Raffy. Getting rid of the 8 years of Raffy’s contract was a result of the trade, and not a main reason IMO.
  17. If the Red Sox don’t resign Bregman that’s pretty much what it turns out to be IMO.
  18. I've said for the last three years I didn’t see the Red Sox signing any long term like 5yrs, and any $100M+ contracts for a pitcher and I still feel that way.
  19. I was thinking of outbidding someone of the likes of Flintstone, and Alonso that will take more money, and more years than the ones you mentioned.
  20. Don’t know of any interest then. The Rumors at the time was more on Monty.
  21. And maybe trading Devers, because of a 1 yr rental.🤭
  22. The Red Sox did not want to spend $75M on a 34 yr old, or spend on Snell, or Monty that some wanted on here. Monty didn’t turn out so well. Shorter term contracts like they gave to Gio is more to their liking.
  23. I agree, but ownership in MLB have given Out some silly contracts with Bogey’s being one of them. Anything over 2-3 years for Bregman, and $40M/yr is silly IMO.
  24. The prediction I saw was $150M-$200M for 5 years.
