  1. I guess the way I look at it is if the Red Sox spend $40M on 1 player it makes less money available for other needs.
  2. Agree, and definitely not any longer than 3 years.
  3. He was never worth $40M. As I said when the Red Sox signed him he was no Mike Schmidt. Bregman also did his best work batting behind Raffy.
  4. I liked Koufax, and the Dodgers went against the Yankees in the 1963 WS, so I started liking the Dodgers then. I liked Gibson too except for 1967.
  5. Mayer if healthy should be the SS no matter the coming, and going of anyone else IMO.
  6. Been a Dodger fan since the early 60’s watching Sandy Koufax, so love watching them in the postseason. Ring #4 for Mookie would be great.
  7. If Bregman opts out just say thanks, but NO thanks. Bregman has 2 yrs, and $80M on the table no matter how it’s constructed, and doesn’t deserve anymore than that, or for a longer time IMO. Some say he tailed off the last part of the season, but after his hot start, which was done batting behind Raffy he ended up BA wise at 273, which is his career average, and he hadn’t seen that since 2019. Offering him more than $80M, and for longer than 2 more years is not a good deal to me for the Red Sox looking at his whole body of work, and not just his hot start.
  8. I don’t believe the Red Sox ever made a serious play for Soto, the Yam Man, or even Monty a few years ago. Just like there haven’t been much of an effort at the trade deadline the past few years. Full throttle, or stuck throttle?
  9. I guess Paying him $12M+ too will be in his favor.
  10. I can see giving Sandoval a crack, but certainly not a lock. Like I said earlier a lot has changed since he was signed. When he was signed did anyone think Early would be starting a deciding game in the postseason against the Yankees?
  11. I agree. They have put 1 ND game just on Peacock the last few years, and even though I hated missing the game I’m not giving anymore of my money to watch a game.
  12. What has Sandoval done in his career to make him a lock for the rotation? A lot has changed since he was signed, and I don’t see Sandoval much more than a depth piece at this time.
  13. I’m not in much to the stats, and a grade. They’re either a good OF, or they’re not. Even when Duran catches fly ball sometimes the eye test shows you he bumbles, and stumbles around waiting for the ball to come down.
  14. I just think Brez wanted to get rid of Raffy so bad, and SF was willing to take on the whole contract.
  15. Duran regressed back to more like the Butterfly Man this past season.
  16. That I agree on.
  17. I think with Hicks it was more the Giants didn’t like what they saw in him more than Boston liked what they saw in him, and was just an unload for the Giants.
  18. Outside of Crochet, and Bello I’m not assuming any of those other guys healthy, or not will be in the rotation.
  19. I just don’t see the Red Sox going Large, and Long on anyone, so I think something like a Bregman type contract happening.
  20. Being big of body doesn’t help either.
  21. I agree on Mayer that there is NO plan for him having just a bench role next year, and if healthy he will have a starting role anywhere from 3B over to 2B. I would hope it would be at SS with Story sliding over to 2B regardless of what Bregman does. Of course it’s not a certainty that Story stays either. Casas is a different case altogether. If the Red Sox are counting on him, which is far from a certainty I don’t see another expensive 1B being signed, but they definitely need a plan B after a revolving door at 1B the last 3 years.
  22. Better glove than Mayer?
  23. Romy basically played FT the whole second half, because Casas being hurt, and 1B became a revolving door, and Mayer getting hurt opened 2B up more. I know you love the Romy/ DHam, and Ref Man types, and every team needs them, but hopefully not to the extent the Red Sox have needed them the past few years.
  24. Show me where pampering your stars with the greatest seniority doesn’t happen, and what sport. Just, because you thought Story playing SS, and moving Bogey made more sense to you doesn’t mean it was the right move to make, and Cora saw it that way. Just, because you thought Raffy should move to 1B even if Casas was still there, and make Casas the DH doesn’t mean it was the right move to make, and Cora would see it that way.🙈
