  1. Yes, Yes, and Yes! I don’t like opt outs, and look how JD held the Red Sox hostage for a few years. Bogey at the very least should have been given somewhere near their final offer to him this offseason last offseason.
  2. Talk about a big slap in the face the Red Sox spent more money on an unproven player from Japan than they offered Bogey last spring when the Red Sox wanted to add an extra year for $30M on to the $60M Bogey had left on his contract. $100M+ for an outsider who has never played ML baseball compared to all that Bogey had done in Boston. Those are just plain rotten apples Stinking to high heaven.
  3. How could Kennedy, and Bloom sit there, and do the spin, and grin, and say how much Bogey meant to the team, and how bad they wanted him back, and that was all after that fake offer last offseason that pissed Bogey off. Did they really think fans were going to buy into that BS. Just like with Mookie when they offered him $300M when they knew he was not going to take it the Red Sox waited to the last minute, and put their best offer on the table when they knew there were better offers out there, and even then if the last reported offer was true around $170M that wasn’t that could an offer anyway.
  4. Like I said earlier Judge is not a better player today than he was a year ago, and the Yankees botched letting Judge get to FA, and costing them lots of money just like the Red Sox botched the Bogey situation, and let him get to FA when according to Kennedy the mouthpiece of the Red Sox, and Bloom they wanted Bogey so bad. Actions proved otherwise.
  5. Wow $100M for someone who doesn’t strike out in Japan baseball, which is on a level of a little better than AAA ball here in the states.
  6. We don’t know if these prospects will pan out, and that starts with Casas, and Bello this year.
  7. I’m not so sure Henry will be.
  8. Lots of hype, and wishful thinking for someone coming from Japan, and all of the low low price of $100M. Being a upgrade of JBJ’s bat, and Duran is not saying much. More production would have probably come from Renfroe than this guy, and lots cheaper too, which the Red Sox could have spent the money saved on much needed starting pitching.
  9. We all know Henry controls the purse string, but Bloom made that ridiculous offer last offseason, and then provided the lip service on how bad the Red Sox wanted to keep Bogey. They are both guilty as charged.
  10. One report I saw had the Red Sox at 6 yrs/ $27M per as a counter offer.
  11. And I should be with this signing?
  12. I think it’s a bigger gamble than it is a upside, and like I said yesterday Suzuki didn’t set the league on fire last year by any means.
  13. The offer last spring told me all I needed to know about Bloom, and JH, and so did Bogey. The funny part is that some bought into the Kennedy, and Bloom spin, and grin.
  14. The Red Sox are spending more money on this unproven Major League player than the Phillies are on Schwarber a proven Major League power hitter. Who got the better deal DD, or Bloom? Does anyone remember Rudsney?
  15. What Bloom is blamed for is the contract offer he made Bogey last offseason, and letting Bogey get to FA in the first place. San Diego yes is going all out, and way beyond the scope, but they haven’t won anything yet. Let’s not get to exited about Judges contract either, because that may be a bad contract too if not worse. He’s not a better player now, because he hit 60+ last year.
  16. I’m sure the Red Sox wasn’t even close, and shouldn’t have been with where SD ended up paying, but Bogey was lost when the Red Sox made that insulting offer last offseason, and let him get to FA in the first place. With the money (ding thrown around out there Raffy will be gone too. The Yankees ponied up, and JH will not.
  17. It would have been better if this guy was a RF. Dugy can play out there, but not as good as a LF.
  18. Did not match the hype, and had some injuries, so I guess it depends on what good is.
  19. Always iffy when signing someone from the orient. Suzuki had plenty of hype too, and didn’t set the league afire last year.
  20. If you get 1 full year combined from Paxton, and Sale would be a bonus, and that’s a big if, so agree with the need of 2 starters. As they found out last year you can never have enough starters. Add Hill to the other two, and you may get a full year out of the three.
  21. Agree 100%, and signing Bogey, and Raffy long term has to be done even if it cost more now than it would have before. The market has gotten bigger, and more expensive for everyone. The Yankees ponied up for Judge, and now it’s time for JH to do the same for Bogey, and Raffy.
  22. Agree on Paxton, and there is always concern for Sale just being able to get to the mound.
  23. Okay now we got an actual closer, and I’m thrilled with that. A for effort for Bloom. I still would like to see at least 1 more starter added, and put Whitlock back in the pen, which I’ve said it’s where he belongs, and then we still have to get some bats. I’m hoping Jansen still has something left in the tank.
