Last year there was more on an emphasis on D in the OF too, but now that seems to be out the window also. You are one of the ones mentioned in an earlier post that values the Ref Man more than others, which I don’t, but that’s just my opinion. I would go with Tapia.
Both guys have been around long enough, so no ST should not be a deciding factor. I’m just not that high on the Ref Man, and I’ll agree that he deserves a look, but not a long one. If it would come down to Tapia, or the Ref Man I would go with Tapia.
Agree. The Ref Man did have a good year with he bat last year especially against LHP, but his bat has not been very productive for the rest of his career, so was last year just a career year for him, and he’ll go back to just being a journeyman with not much upside. The Ref Man isn’t that good of a OF, but he is a RHH if that matters that much. D in the OF doesn’t seem to be a big priority for the Red Sox this season as they have a LF more suited for DH, a CF who is more suited for RF, and a RF who is more suited to play LF, so we’ll see what happens.
I don’t get it either, but that’s Cora. Cora said he wanted Sale to enjoy opening day, and not having to pitch. A wild guess here, but I think Sale would enjoy opening day a lot more if he was the starting pitcher.
Opportunities from missing players from the WBC I think are driving this. Guys are playing more than they would have in these games, because Raffy, and Kike are missing. If the Red Sox keep both Tapia, and the Ref Man to start the season that’s 1 less IF they will keep. If that is good, or bad for Bobby D we’ll just have a few weeks left to see. Bobby D might not even make the big club.
Arroyo wasn’t an OF, and Franchy wasn’t an IF. Bobby D while might not be a good one is at least an IF who hasn’t played SS in a regular game this year. There should be all kinds of worries going into the regular season for the Red Sox, but I don’t believe Bobby D playing SS in a ST game is one of them. ST is for pitchers to get their work in most importantly, so I don’t think you could cancel it.
After last year with Franchy Strange Glove at 1B anything is possible, or wouldn’t surprise me to what Cora would try. He might be better than Arroyo in the OF, but who knows.
I’m not a big Bobby D fan, but he has shown flashes of being productive, so they are just trying things out. It’s just a ST game after all, and like the Yuckers were saying during the broadcast the other day they don’t know if there has been any answers yet on what will happen to him from staying on the big club to going down to Worcester, or being traded.
What is there to go wrong in a ST game? It looks like Turner is the backup at 1B, so if Bobby D isn’t a utility IF I don’t see much of a spot for him on the Red Sox, and should go back down to Worcester to get some AB.
I liked the Cardinals, and Dodgers in the early 1960’s, or anyone who went against the Yankees in the WS, but then 1967 came along, and I didn’t like the Cardinals so much especially Bob Gibson.
That’s the musical group OB, and the Yuckers. Middleton, Millar, Lenny D, Wake, and Youk. What a drop in Quality from Rem, and Danny O, and Eck. Not ML quality to me, and substandard for the history of good Red Sox announcers.
True, not many liked it, and still don’t. I was against it the day the extension happened, because Sale having TJ was predicted by many, and pretty much predictable any way, and I’m not paying any pitcher to have TJ, and sit out 1-2 years especially the kind of money Sale got. Bad deal when it happened in my opinion, and bad deal now.
