  1. I was all for signing ERod two years ago, but i wouldn’t do a five year deal now.
  2. MLB listed Monty #8 in FA 1 slot behind Sonny Gray, where CBS listed him #9 even behind ERod, and said Monty is a no thrills mid-rotation starter. I guess you don’t like those two rankings.
  3. You can call him a #1 if you’d like, but does that really change anything?
  4. I might have worded that wrong. Not worse than his W-L, but what his W-L says, and more in line with my journeyman opinion. I didn’t actually think it would be that close, and I didn’t think that my opinion would be the majority either. Of course these aren’t all Red Sox fans either. A few Yankees, and O’s fans are mixed in.
  5. I think we had already agreed on this.
  6. Just got back from the club, and took a little Monty poll while I was there. 12-8 in favor of Monty being better than his W-L record shows. Also heard Sean McAdam on the radio who said he views him as a backend #2, or a front end #3. All kinds of different views out there.
  7. What’s good to you obviously isn’t good to me, and of course there is just no disagreement on this. I have said his stats are good except his W-L, which I just put more stock in than all of you, and I don’t value him as high either. There is nothing wrong with either view, but there always has to be on here.
  8. See! It’s tit for tat, and I know you are, but what am I, which responds to criticism, and no content. It works both ways. Once again an objective third party would see that. The gang at the local PF love it all.
  9. Once again we’ve gone over this 100 times. You are trying to make it sound like I stopped watching BB as much, because the Red Sox were winning, which is 100% not true, and I have witnesses that can verify. On the other hand you JUMPED SHIP on the Red Sox in 2022 the fair weather fan that you are not the super fan you claim to be.
  10. So because Monty looked good at the end of the regular season, and into the postseason that makes him all of a sudden look better than he did before? Evol did the same thing in 2018 postseason, and got him that 4yr contract.
  11. Your predictions like 87 wins, and all your BTV suggested trades, which NEVER happen does nothing for me either, which means you are not even as good as a blind squirrel. That’s the facts Jack, and it’s as simple as that.
  12. The goal post didn’t move I mentioned frontline starter when I referenced the article on CBS.
  13. I just don’t do an eye test on highlights. I mentioned watching highlights one time, and you and other took it from there. I also agree that the eye test doesn’t tell you everything, but it told me enough the last two years to show what a clown show the Red Sox were at times, and why they were a losing last place in the Div team. The eye test also showed me that the Red Sox was far away from an 87 win team that some thought watching the same things as I did. Poopoo the ideas of others? Just get 1 thing right. BTV does nothing for me. I don’t need it. It’s as simple as that.
  14. Oh no Brez just got pushed to the back of the line in the Yam Man bidding.
  15. No I’d rather play with toys like BTV.
  16. Don’t like it, but that’s what the article said on CBS said when they projected the contracts of the top 10 FA . Monty came in at 5/110, and the article said that he would get the 5yrs, because that’s what it would take to sign it. Hard to imagine isn’t it that there are others out there that doesn’t think as highly of Monty as some do on here.
  17. I’ll end the Monty subject like this. If the Red Sox sign Monty I’ll be ok with it, because he most likely will make the rotation better, but he’s not a frontline starter, and that is what the Red Sox need most.
  18. Brez will have some very stiff competition from some very big hitters going after the Yam Man. I would be shocked, and presently surprised if it happens, but not counting on it to happen at all. Right now the suitors are all lined up pushing, and shoving to get that bid in at 8:00. Brez is not first in line.
  19. Many on here have said stats like BA, and W-L records are meaningless, and that’s a fact. I have NEVER said analytics are meaningless only that I don’t need them, and it’s fine for people that do. The eye test doesn’t just come from box scores. I didn’t watch as many games as you did this past year, but watched enough to know what was going on like the Red Sox were far from a 87 win team that obviously you assumed from watching everyday.
  20. And once again just, because they are FA pitchers does not mean they are all that good, but only that they are available, and being a FA makes them more attractive.
  21. Saying Monty is a top 30 pitcher is a lot different than saying he’s been about as good as anyone the last three years. A top 30 pitcher these days doesn’t mean they are all that good.
  22. That’s been my point right along. BTV is worthless, or meaningless to me along with analytics just like eye test, W-L record, or BA is to some of you. It works both ways. See we agree again.
  23. You’re right that I forgot the A’s had a pretty good team in 2021, and won 86 games.
  24. Does the worthless BTV accept that trade for the Red Sox?
  25. The first thing I mentioned was Monty’s career 38-34 record. The second thing was being on 3 teams in 3 years. You are trying to say that I’m saying any pitcher who was on 3 teams in 3 yrs should be called a journeyman, and you brought up Lester, and Scherzer, who i wouldn’t call journeyman at all, and not even close in comparison. You can fit it to your narrative all you want, but it doesn’t change mine.
