  1. I understand that, but that doesn’t change my mind, and as someone always says being in the majority doesn’t mean it’s right.
  2. We’ve been around, and around on this watered down subject before. No one changed their mind then, and no one is changing his mind now no matter how many times the subject gets mentioned.
  3. We’ll never no, but the 1975 team had to knock off the 3 time defending champion A’s, and then take on the Big Red Machine, which both teams were the best of their times.
  4. I think being younger made it more of a hero worship thing too.
  5. Have the Red Sox dropped in talent the last 5 years? Counting HOF are we?
  6. If you had to win it all to be great then I agree, but outside of that starting in 1967 my favorite team ever, and the teams of the 70’s were pretty good to me. It was better to win titles yes, but if it takes that to be great then I disagree.
  7. I’m not miserable now. Criticizing does not mean miserable, but thanks any way. High school, college, and NFL football is starting up not to mention the last week of NASCAR before the playoffs start. The best time of the year.
  8. Sometimes it’s better to live in the past when the present isn’t all that bright, and the future that so many are anticipating will be awesome might not ever get there either.
  9. Yes he’s a good player, but to say he’s the best in the league doesn’t mean the league isn’t watered down. Do you think Baltimore has just gotten so much better that they have caught, and then passed teams, or do you think other teams have dropped in talent level, and now Baltimore has gone ahead?
  10. SWho is refuting any stats. All I said was just going by the eye test, and if you didn’t have the stats posted every AB for every game on every day I would think he wouldn’t have the power numbers that he does. Even on the NESN telecast they have mentioned more than once how Raffy was stuck on a HR, or RBI number. That’s just pointing out the facts. On there though that means Raffy is being bashed, and that means they just don’t like the guy. You can remember many of JT’s big hits so far this year, but how many can you remember of Raffy? The eye test were initially used to refute the new school stats? The eye test has been around before baseball was invented.
  11. Watered down league? Where would you rank this Red Sox team in terms of talent in the last 10 years? How about the Yankees? Baltimore is doing pretty good, but I don’t see any Brooks, or Frank on the team, or anything resembling Palmer on the pitching staff.
  12. Or what ever analytics your using.
  13. Obviously you haven’t watched him play 3B this year.
  14. The eye test gets people going every time. You see it how you see it, and I see it as I see it. It’s really not so amazing, but of course it gets that way on here, because only one way is right.
  15. Everything begins with the eye test. There would be no stats without the eye test to begin with. All I said was that the eye test to me doesn’t equate that his power numbers are as good as his stats say, and JT’s does maybe because there have been many which seem like long spells without the power, and RBI. I’m not saying Raffy is bad, but if it seems like it does to some then confusion will run wild.
  16. To me it just doesn’t seem like it where JT has had big hit, after bit hit, after big hit. Just a perception I guess.
  17. But does the eye test show that he has been as good as his power numbers suggest? I don’t think it does unlike JT, which clearly does.
  18. D has been a problem the last two years, and especially this year, but the front office doesn’t seem all that concerned.
  19. My prediction next year is Raffy will still be at 3B, and Casas will still be a 1B. Story will be the SS, and Yoshida will be LF/DH depending on Turner. Outside of that it’s anyone’s guess.
  20. Jansen, and Martin have made a big difference.
  21. I think Turner likes playing in Boston, so Bloom may have to add another year to keep him depending what Turner can get out on the market.
  22. At least Bloom did spend some money to fix the backend of the BP, but he certainly hasn’t put much money into the Rotation. ERod, Wacha, and Evol aren’t here, because of money, and the length of money, and that’s why Kluber was signed this past off season, because he was cheap, and for 1 year.
  23. On the other hand could the Red Sox have gotten a serviceable starter for a prospect when the rotation had 3 starters out with injuries?
  24. Casas was in original lineup, but has tooth infection.
  25. Looks like the first 4 guys in the Red Sox lineup got some new bats that worked last night. Hope the rest of the team gets theirs soon.
