  1. I’ll agree with that.
  2. You guys can Pooh, Pooh W-L records all you want like they don’t mean anything at all, and I never said they mean everything, but they do mean something. Just, because the Red Sox are in desperate need of SP, and he’s available doesn’t mean that now all of a sudden he’s better than he really is, and the Red Sox should try, and grab him. We disagree on what to call him, or if he’s worth the money, but no big deal.
  3. Ah the old school thing again. I’ve already said all his other stats look good, but I just don’t think he’s a $100M+ man, and you guys are all trying to convince that he is.
  4. He’s pitched 7 years now in the big leagues, and accumulated a 38-34 record, and has also been on 3 teams in the last 3 years, and now he’s a $100M+ man?
  5. If Monty wasn’t a FA would you trade a top prospect for him?
  6. Productive to me means he wins games. All the other stats are good enough though.
  7. His ERA the past 3 seasons have been real good. The article I read on CBS predicting the contracts of the top 10 FA said said that Monty might not be a flashy as the other top FA pitchers, and some don’t view him as a frontline starter. I think that sums Onty up pretty well.
  8. His high in wins is 10 in his career, which was last year. I know some don’t care about W-L records, but that just doesn’t add up to me being worth $100M+ no matter what, or how many other stats you bring up.
  9. I wouldn’t compare Monty to Scherzer. Scherzer has accomplished a hell of a lot more in his career than Monty ever has, or will. I understand W-L records, but I just don’t think Monty is worth any $100M+ contract based on what he’s done in his career so far. He had a good postseason, and is a FA, so now all of a sudden he’s a hot commodity. Even though I think he would most likely improve the rotation just don’t think he worth it. I’d pass. Just, because he’s available doesn’t mean he’s all that good.
  10. Monty no doubt pitched good the last part of the regular season, and into the postseason for Texas, but outside of that his career numbers are not that great, and I believe overrated. A career 38-34 record, and has been on 3 teams over the last 3 years, and even the Yankees who are always looking for pitching didn’t keep him. Kind of like a journeyman pitcher to me, and not someone I would give a $100M+ contract to for 5-6 years.
  11. Some front office execs are concerned about Snell’s control, and workload, and said Snell might not get a contract as long, or for as much as he might like, so it’ll be interesting to see.
  12. I guess it depends on what your expectations are. I wasn’t counting on The Big O, or the Yam Man, because of the amount of competition, and the cost, and Nola was somewhat expected to go back to Philly anyway. If Monty, or ERod doesn’t float your boat, and no big trade is made for pitching then that will no sit well with fans. With Nola gone maybe things will speed up now.
  13. Frail was on the DL in July, and Aug of 2018 with 1 start in between stints.
  14. As we have found anything, and everything is possible with Sale.
  15. Every pitch he threw he got closer, and closer to TJ.
  16. Nola was 7yr/172 not 6yr/172.
  17. One projection I saw was 5/150, so pretty close, and no not an absurd price. Now maybe some of the others may fall into place. On the same site Monty was projected at 5/110.
  18. Nola signs with Phillies 7yr/172. Finally some action.
  19. I understand fully, but Sale was struggling the end of 2018. I blame DD too for not paying Bogey more to extend him longer than 3 years.
  20. I don’t think the Red Sox would have paid Frail to sit out 1-2 years for TJ, and i don’t think DD thought he would have surgery. I said it was a mistake to extend Frail the day it happened with 1 more year to go on his contract.
  21. I wouldn’t pay anyone to have TJ, and that includes the Big O. No Frail never was worth $48mill per year.
  22. It was pretty much anticipated, and speculated that Sale was going to need TJ just like it was pretty much speculated that Story was going to need some kind of procedure done. Either way both have turned out to be bad deals.
  23. I don’t like opt-outs at all. They can hold teams hostage like JD did for a couple of years with the Sox. Bogey should have either been signed to a 3 yr, or 6 year contract, and then there is no guessing. Paying JT $6.5M not to play for the Red Sox this year to me is ridiculous too.
  24. No thanks for that much money.
