  1. Oh no Brez just got pushed to the back of the line in the Yam Man bidding.
  2. No I’d rather play with toys like BTV.
  3. Don’t like it, but that’s what the article said on CBS said when they projected the contracts of the top 10 FA . Monty came in at 5/110, and the article said that he would get the 5yrs, because that’s what it would take to sign it. Hard to imagine isn’t it that there are others out there that doesn’t think as highly of Monty as some do on here.
  4. I’ll end the Monty subject like this. If the Red Sox sign Monty I’ll be ok with it, because he most likely will make the rotation better, but he’s not a frontline starter, and that is what the Red Sox need most.
  5. Brez will have some very stiff competition from some very big hitters going after the Yam Man. I would be shocked, and presently surprised if it happens, but not counting on it to happen at all. Right now the suitors are all lined up pushing, and shoving to get that bid in at 8:00. Brez is not first in line.
  6. Many on here have said stats like BA, and W-L records are meaningless, and that’s a fact. I have NEVER said analytics are meaningless only that I don’t need them, and it’s fine for people that do. The eye test doesn’t just come from box scores. I didn’t watch as many games as you did this past year, but watched enough to know what was going on like the Red Sox were far from a 87 win team that obviously you assumed from watching everyday.
  7. And once again just, because they are FA pitchers does not mean they are all that good, but only that they are available, and being a FA makes them more attractive.
  8. Saying Monty is a top 30 pitcher is a lot different than saying he’s been about as good as anyone the last three years. A top 30 pitcher these days doesn’t mean they are all that good.
  9. That’s been my point right along. BTV is worthless, or meaningless to me along with analytics just like eye test, W-L record, or BA is to some of you. It works both ways. See we agree again.
  10. You’re right that I forgot the A’s had a pretty good team in 2021, and won 86 games.
  11. Does the worthless BTV accept that trade for the Red Sox?
  12. The first thing I mentioned was Monty’s career 38-34 record. The second thing was being on 3 teams in 3 years. You are trying to say that I’m saying any pitcher who was on 3 teams in 3 yrs should be called a journeyman, and you brought up Lester, and Scherzer, who i wouldn’t call journeyman at all, and not even close in comparison. You can fit it to your narrative all you want, but it doesn’t change mine.
  13. Saying Monty has been about as good as anyone the last three years is quite the S T R E T C H. How deep are you going to call almost anyone?
  14. Why are you only focused on the 3 team comment with Monty. That was just something I mentioned along with Monty being not much of a winner. Once again i wouldn’t compare Monty to Scherzer like they are close to equals, because they are not unless you only want to talk about how many teams they have been on the last 3 years.
  15. NO ONE EVER SAID W-L are everything. NO ONE at all. You on the other hand are trying to say W-L are meaningless. Just, because they are to you in no way makes it that way, and never will. And yes that 39-14 record would be what most people not on here would point out.
  16. Not everyone who pitches for 3 teams in 3 years is someone I consider a journeyman. Just because I said that about Monty some are trying to compare everyone else who has done that in the same light. Everyone is different, and all the ones I heard compared to Monty are better than Monty like Scherzer, and Lester earlier, and now Bassitt.
  17. Bassitt 43 wins the last three years. I’ll take it, and one of those years were with the A’s.The rest of his stats aren’t that bad either. I’ll take him over Monty. Oops he’s not available, but Monty is.🙈
  18. Evol is a good comparison, and he probably wouldn’t have gotten the contract he did without the strong performance in the 2018 PS. Monty picked a good time to pitch well at the end of the regular season, and the postseason, and yes he will get paid more, because of it.
  19. This we agree on.
  20. And once again I’m not one who is disregarding the W-L record, so all kinds of bells, and whistles are going off to tell me I’m wrong.
  21. If you’ve been in the league for 7 yrs like Monty, and are just 38-34 for your career it can’t be all blamed on the team he has been on. Some of the blame has to be on him too. He had a good postseason, and now he’s available. Take him, or leave him. Some one will take him, and pay him well. If it’s the Red Sox I hope it works out.
  22. We’ve already gone over this hundreds of times already. I’m not into making trade suggestions even though I did make one today. I’m not a GM, or HOBO, and I don’t get paid to be one.You like making BTV trade accepted suggestions, and that’s fine for you even though they never happen.
  23. You don’t have to be arguing, and I didn’t say you was. My stance is FA pitching is over priced, and risky. Agree, or disagree one way of the other, but in the short, and long run it doesn’t change my opinion.
  24. Well said. I know many things go into W-L for a starting pitcher, and they are not the stars today like they used to be back in the Koufax, and Gibby days.
  25. If it took that much then definitely a BIG no! I was just throwing something out there that I don’t normally do, but things are slow at the moment.
