  1. One on here could understand if the plan for the Red Sox wasn’t to be good until 2035. Why bother to sign Raffy?
  2. As I’ve been saying right along if you’re not playing to win then why play at all. To just throw years away for the hope that some hyped prospects will take the team to the top sometime down the road is just unacceptable to me as a fan. Right now all I care about is 2024, and I could give a flying f—- about 2025, or beyond.
  3. Why does it have to be exclusively 2024 wins?
  4. Cora, Cora, Cora! My first baptism to fire on here was early on when I said I would not have rehired Cora, because of what I felt was his over the top participation in the cheating scandal. I also said I wouldn’t have ever rehired any coach, or manager even if it was Red with the Celtics, the Hoodie with the Pats, or any coach at ND. I was called a HATER for saying that. I like Cora, but I think he is way overrated as a manager, and rides on the coattails of winning the WS in his first year of 2018. The not so great John Farrell won in his first year too. In 2019 the Red Sox wasn’t as good, and Cora even admitted he didn’t have the starting rotation ready to go. I heard someone say yesterday on here that the Red Sox would be worse off without Cora. Meaning they’d have a worse losing record, or last in the whole league. The Red Sox have won a WS with a loaded team in 2018, and have come in last place in the Div in 2022, and 2023 with a not so good lineup, and pitching staff all with Cora. I don’t think he makes that much of a difference either way in the long run.
  5. Tom has been thinking what to say ever since he made the throttle comment. How nice of him to finally come out, and clarify things, or try to clarify things just before Winter Weekend. All the fans can rest better now.
  6. Agree, and as the Red Sox have found out the past 2 years you need closer to 10 SP than 5 to get you through the season too.
  7. Substitute Lester for Price in 2018, and there is no way to tell on that ring.
  8. Right now I don’t see Houck in the rotation. The last I heard Whit, Houck, and Wink would be fighting for the 5th spot behind Bello, Gio, Pivetta, Wink, and the Kut Man.
  9. That may have been, but he wouldn’t have been probably thought of if they had not lowballed Lester, and signed him for half the price.
  10. That’s why I don’t label pitches at all. To me you have starters, and you have guys in the BP, but i will concede a closer. You know which pitchers are better than other ones without labeling them 1-5. You know the Red Sox do not have a good starting staff.
  11. The Red Sox meeting with the Yam Man was all fluff, and for PR purposes. What the Rangers did in FA was help them get a WS, and they got good PR as the result. What the Red Sox did, and what the Rangers did was two entirely different things.
  12. Price was a bad signing. The Red Sox could have had Lester for half the price.
  13. I wonder if they’ve approached Cora about an extension, or not. It’s been pretty quiet on the subject.
  14. I think they’ve now used up their 9 lives.
  15. Yea, I know it sounds that way, but I just think they misread on how high contracts would go, which I think lots of so called experts did.
  16. They’ll keep raising as long as fans continue to keep paying.
  17. A limiting factor may have taken a big it when the price tag went up a $100M, or so for the Yam Man on what was projected, and likely for Monty, and Snell too.
  18. The Red Sox might have had better intentions before FA started, and Bres was hired, but thought better of it when it was time to do it.
  19. If they could do that plus 4 years of control for Robert I’m in.
  20. You wouldn’t just be signing Monty for this coming year, but for the future as well.
  21. Cease would be cheap the next two years, but what about after that?
  22. The way he said he was safe after Bloom got fired, and it sounds like Cora was offered some sort of FO job, so I think he has more pull than some think.
  23. I don’t think Cora, and Bloom get along all that well either, and that had something to do with Bloom going boom.
  24. I’m still waiting for that trade to happen.
