I get all that, and yes I’m hung up on that $17M. I think it’s a win, win for the Braves though. They get Sale for $10M, and if he’s injured no big deal, but if he stays healthy on that ball club it’s a big win plus the Braves didn’t really give up anyone who was in their plans.

Then go look for another one. It’s hard to believe that the Braves are the only team out there who would have been interested in Sale. It would have had to be a good team like the Braves, which would have narrowed the field though.

Well we’ll find out soon enough if that $10M helps to pay for Snell, or Monty. I don’t think the AAV will be the problem, but for how many years.

Do you really think that JH is wringing his hands with glee with saving $10M on Sale even though he’s still paying him $17M not to play for them, and patting Bres on the back, and saying a job well done?

It has nothing to do with if Sale can be counted on to even pitch 1 inning in 2024. That’s been well documented, and hashed, and hashed over again.

Vaughn is nothing more than a suspect at this point, so let’s not pump him up to be more than he is until he proves something. Just, because he sucked at SS doesn’t mean he’s going to be a good 2B.

So like last year there was no one better than Kike for $10M, and now there is no one better in all off MLB than Grissom to play 2B for the Red Sox who would come for whatever price.

From the guy who always thinks he knows how much the Red Sox are going to spend, and who they will spend it on, and always gets it wrong like there was NO ONE better in all of MLB better than Kike for $10M. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

None of us are Cora, and I’ll say with 100% positivity that had Sale been on the Red Sox, and healthy on March 28 2024 he would have been the opening day starter since it’s not his birthday. If you, or others don’t then fine.

Now that makes NO sense at all that had they unloaded Sale’s $27M they couldn’t, or wouldn’t have signed a better player.

There was word out In MLB that someone out there wanted Sale, and would have taken his salary too, but Bloom didn’t do it,so don’t say there is no one out there that wouldn’t have done that. That may be your opinion just like I have mine, but it doesn’t make it so.

They could have resigned Mookie, and Bogey too, but they didn’t, so when you say they could sign both Snell, and Monty right now that’s nothing, but wishful thinking.

I’ve already answered that yesterday that I would have been happy if Atlanta had given nothing back as long as they paid all of Sale’s salary, which in return for that $27M saved the Red Sox could have gone out, and gotten something better than what they got back anyway. If it would the other way around, and the Red Sox paid $10M instead it would have looked a little better, but not $17M. That’s my opinion anyway. It’s like Sale is still on the team, but not pitching for you, and you’re still paying him $17M.

This is all well, and good, but it still doesn’t mean the Red Sox should have paid Atlanta $17M for Sale to go, and pitch for them.

Why wouldn’t they be spending the $17M on someone else, or as I would look at it $27M.🙈

I would have been happy if they had gotten nothing in return for Sale as long as the other team picked up his entire salary.

Nothing wrong with getting a decent prospect for Sale. The problem to me is paying $17M to do it.
