You want to make Casas a backup 3B, and Raffy a backup 1B. No, and No! Both need to get better with where they are at if anything.🙈🤭

And then who plays 1B? Casas is either a 1B, or DH. If the season started today I think Bobby D would be the backup 1B/3B. Not a good option, but a cheap option.🙈

Yes, but this is a contract year for him, so I see him going full throttle all year, and sticking it to the Red Sox in the process.

It’s a low bar, but possibly achievable. As I read a quote from one fan that they can handle a team with a losing record, and being last place in the Div, but what they can’t handle is not trying to get better.

Like I’ve repeatedly said many times over. This is not the same JH who bought the Red Sox, and what tendencies he has done in the past payroll wise has no bearing on what he’ll do today.

I’ve said all along before FA even started that Monty would help the Red Sox, but he isn’t worth the money. He is available, and there is a big need out there for starting pitching, and that why his value has gone up. He had a good stretch run, and postseason with Texas, and that helped his value more than before that happened. Evol had a good postseason in 2018, which helped him get his contract with the Red Sox.

It was only bad if you thought you had to rebuild in the first place. Like I’ve repeatedly said that the core of the team should be Mookie, Bogey, and Raffy, and then adding to that core either by trades, FA, or the farm.

I didn’t like the JBJ trade in the first place. I know you did, and was one of the few who did, so JBJ shouldn’t have been part of the problem.

Arroyo in RF, and Franchy at 1B shouldn’t have been part of any plan in the first place.

Trading a 96 RBI OF for JBJ who couldn’t hit, no backup plan for RF except Arroyo, no backup plan for 1B except for Franchy Strangeglove. In total cluster f—-. Those were some of Bloom’s master plans.

Let’s not get carried away. The 2018 team with a 108 wins was a once in a lifetime record, so while dropping 24 games from that the following year wasn’t good there was bound to be a drop off anyway. Cora didn’t have the team ready to go especially the pitching staff, which he admitted in 2019 either. It wasn’t just Bloom looking for that 3rd option in the fork in the road at the deadline the last two years that prevented the Red Sox from the postseason either.

Baltimore needs pitching like everyone else, but all they’ve done pretty much this offseason is add Kimbrel.
