  1. No! I said Alonso was their first choice for 1B, but Bregman was Plan A above EVERYTHING else. Alonso was ready to sign first as Moon already pointed out, so once again NO.
  2. Several attempts sounds serious to me. I trust McAdams on this.
  3. Yes Devers had called out Breslow before, which was pretty much telling him to do his job, and get the team some pitching.
  4. Once again I agree. What looks so good on paper, and what actually plays out could be two different things.
  5. Once again I get all that, but the Red Sox went after Alonso first, and Ranger is not on the team if Bregman who was their ist choice was signed. Like I said it all may work out for the best, but then again it might not.
  6. I get all that, but it still seems the Red Sox made several attempts to get him.
  7. I think this is a good way to look at it. I’ll be interested to see how the Cro Man does this year after his first heavy workload last year. I also think it will be hard for the Chapman-Whit duo to duplicate last year. Depth has also been a big issue the past few years, and that should be better this year.
  8. If, if, if. MH accepted Neto, for Anthony, and Tolle.
  9. Not the same thing. The Red Sox wanted O Cab, so it wasn’t a settle.
  10. That’s fine too, and yes I’d take Durbin in that scenario too.
  11. The point being that it seems the REd Sox apparently wanted Neto pretty bad, and didn’t get him. I believe Alonso was their ist choice for 1B, and didn’t get him. Bregman was their Plan A above everything else, and didn’t get him. Didn’t get him is the theme here.
  12. Of course what the Angels wanted mattered, and that’s why the Red Sox didn’t get Neto. It’s over now, and the Red Sox got Durbin, so that’s why I said it doesn’t matter now.
  13. As I keep saying after the Red Sox settle once again that everything may work out alright, but once again the Red Sox who took several swings at trading for Neto according to McAdams did not get someone they really wanted. No we don’t know the Angels asking price, so it doesn’t matter now. This gives some another comparison during the season between Durbin, and Neto.
  14. Wouldn’t he have 4 years of control? Of course that $4M would get higher every year. Sounds like the Red Sox really wanted him though.
  15. They did say that Story wore down at the end last season, so I expect especially with IKF around Story will get more time off this year.
  16. Because the Red Sox have already come out, and said Story is the SS.
  17. I agree for the most part, but I do think the Red Sox did want a power bat like Alonzo to go along with Bregman, but found out it was just too expensive to the Red Sox liking.
  18. Also taking the cheapest option is in line with how Breslow has handled business.
  19. An interesting discussion on the radio today on how the Red Sox have gone from Brez saying back in October that HR wins playoff games, and we need a power bat to we need someone to drive in runs to now it’s pitching, and DEFENSE. A power bat like Alonso was to expensive, and then Bregman was to expensive, and even getting Durbin after going after Neto, which was to expensive, and who knows who else the Red Sox really wanted, but it turned out to expensive to their liking. As I’ve said before this May all turn out well, but how they ended up was no where near the plan in the beginning.
  20. So in other words once again Cora isn’t putting his best lineup in the field, because he doesn’t want to ruffle feathers like with Bogey, Raffy, and now Story.🤔
  21. Durbin may turn out alright, but as McAdams said getting Durbin wasn’t a HR swing, but a double in the gap. Seems the Red Sox took several swings at Zach Neto, but struck out.
  22. Durbin 2B Story SS Mayer 3B if this is the opening day lineup what does that say to you?
  23. Where does anyone say Mayer’s is more ready to play 2B/3B?? Where did Mayer play last year when he came up? SS, 2B, or 3B? That’s an easy one. He played where there was an opening. Same thing with Roman. He played where there was an opening. Not that complicated at all. Now if you have a problem with that then you have a problem with Cora. Story is the incumbent SS, and that’s where Cora says Story will play in 2026. If you’ve got a problem with that you have a problem with Cora. With all indications this year point to Mayer either playing 3B, or 2B. Why, because that’s where there is an opening. If you’ve got a have a problem with that you have a problem with Cora. Mayer certainly hasn’t proven he can stay on the field, and be an everyday player. I can’t believe Cora doesn’t implement any of your suggestions. Wow what kind of bad manager is he?🤭
