  1. Abreu sucked in the 4th spot too. He got a couple of hits his last time there to make him look a little better.
  2. Raffy is fine right where he is right now, and I believe Cora agrees with that assessment, and that is why Cora said he wasn’t even going to talk with Raffy about trying 1B.
  3. Campbell batting 4th is yuck, and OH MY also. 3-30 with 9 K’s.
  4. The response was to short term, which Devers started out in the land of futility this year. Adjusting to DH might have had something to do with that.
  5. If going to DH was any example I would say no.
  6. It just amazes me how many fans just assume that Devers will be any resemblance of a good 1B just because he played 3B, and many have made the move across the diamond, and were adequate, or better. I’ve heard that throwing was Raffy’s biggest problem, and he won’t have to throw much at 1B, which is true. The questions to me will how will his footwork be receiving throws, and digging throws out of the dirt? How would Raffy be at turning the 3-6-3 DP? How will he be at leading the pitcher to the bag after fielding a grounder. Nothing he did at 3B gives me any reason to think he will be good at those things at 1B. What may look good on paper doesn’t always work out on the field.
  7. Yes, but at least Rusney was actually playing Minor League ball.
  8. Moon is always so worried about how something is perceived. Bottom line Masa could be the DH in Boston right now, but he is not. Masa could have been the DH in Boston on opening day, but he was not. Masa could be the DH in Woo, or anywhere else right now, but he is not. You can call the why, and why not anything you want, but it still comes out to the same thing that Masa is in exile collecting his $18M.
  9. Why Masa hasn’t been DH in Boston since opening day is, because of roster construction. Why Masa hasn’t been DH for Woo, or anyone else we are not being told. I’m sure there is a reason, but the Red Sox are keeping everyone in the dark. Call it what you want.
  10. What would you call it? To say he can’t play, because he can’t throw in the outfield is completely BS.
  11. I think what has sailed is the long-term extension.
  12. It’s a wink, wink that Masa isn’t playing, because he can’t throw. It’s nothing more than the old roster construction thing. Masa was well enough to DH in ST, and if Raffy wasn’t now taking the DH spot Masa would have opened the season as the DH. Not treating Masa that well at all, but at least he’s collecting his $18M.
  13. A lot has happened since they tried to extend Casas, and I think that ship has sailed, and won’t be coming back.
  14. Talking about Bregman playing 2B didn’t help matters, and I agree that Cora wanted Bregman at 2B, but Brez wanted him at 3B. I think there not only tension between Cora, and Brez, but now even more so between Raffy, and Brez. I think it was also telling that Brez wasn’t in the meeting with JH, Sam, Cora, and Raffy.
  15. Once again I don’t think there was any communication about Raffy playing the field again, because that’s how Cora saw things, but Brez has other ideas, and that’s why Cora said he hadn’t spoken to Raffy about playing 1B, and wasn’t going to.
  16. It far from being likely that Casas will play 1B for the Red Sox again, or moving Raffy to 1B if the move is actually done just a temporary move.
  17. Well said, and agree 100%. I think JH didn’t just go to KC to speak to Raffy, but have a talk with Brez, and Cora also whom I think has a disagreement on if Raffy should try 1B, or not. This whole situation couldn’t have been handled worse than it has by the Red Sox IMO. If the thought was to kick the can down the road it appears they missed the can all together.
  18. The last I knew Yoshida hadn’t even appeared in any games yet even as a DH since ST, so I don’t think the Red Sox are to intent on using his bat anytime soon.
  19. I agree mostly with this . There have been some twists and turns in this Raffy saga, and there will probably be more before it is all done. I agree a lot of people were calling for the Raffy move to be made even before last year, but not from Cora. If Cora was in agreement on Raffy trying 1B I wouldn’t be so much against it, but I don’t believe Cora is. Yes plenty of blame to go around.
  20. #1 I’m not a Cora fan, and have said before that I never would have hired Cora back in the first place after the cheating scandal. Having said that I do trust his judgment on if Raffy should try 1B, or not. No one is disputing that Brez is Cora’s boss, but if my theory is right that Sam, and JH just didn’t show up in KC to talk with Raffy, but to referee between Cora, and Brez as well. JH no doubt likes Cora, and kept him over Bloom, so we’ll just have to wait' and see who wins out here. JH is Brez boss. That’s what matters.
  21. I think the way it appears that Cora disagreeing I would disagree that Any GM-CBO would make that move. I would go with Cora’s judgement over Brez, or any other GM-CBO.
  22. For many like Boomer Scott, and Youk moving from 3B to1B was an easy move, but I just haven’t seen anything from Raffy that would lead me to believe he would be good at scooping balls out of the dirt, turning the 3-6-3 DP, or flipping the ball to the pitcher, and most of all why he would be a better short, or long term solution than Campbell, or anyone else.
