  1. The 3rd base umpire has the best view and clearly had the best view and called it fair. Straight lining it from initial bounce to where it landed on the other side of the chalk line in foul would still put it over the bag.
  2. 7th inning stretch at Wrigley is usually pretty cool. Old video replay of Harry Carey singing it is okay. Fenway's is okay. The absolute best is the Dodgers as they play it twice.
  3. Rafaela got robbed of that double, settles for single. The rather portly ball adult needs to be fired.
  4. Biggest surprises for me in order 1. Crochet 2. Giolito 3. Chapman 4. Navarez 5. Gonzalez (tie) 5. Toro (tie)
  5. I don't think Ryan is going anywhere. The Twins don't have Lopez or Ober at the moment out with injuries. They have no other decent starter. The Dodgers are not going to trade Max Muncy. Since he's fixed his glasses he can see and hit the ball. We need a big right handed bat.
  6. Forget Santana and Naylor. That solves nothing as we have to move on from Casas. Vinnie Pasquantino of KC or Jake Burger of TX would be much better in the long run. And even a better would be to get Nolan Schanuel off the Angels.
  7. Nope. The Red Sox have needs, but getting rid of a good team player like Bregman isn't it. Devers was traded because he wasn't one and too expensive. The team is blessed with many outfield, 2nd base and SS positions. The teams need is first base.
  8. Devers was way over hyped and over paid for what he had accomplished. He's a .277 hitter who had hit 30 homers in a season just twice and we gave him $320 million. He was/is unremarkable. We should have given Judge $500 million (I said that then). Then this year he starts off acting as a baby (hell, he's "earned' $100 million at this point) and doesn't want to play team ball.
  9. Definitely Crochet. Runner up Bregman.
  10. This 2025 Red Sox team (0.249 AVG & 0.737 OPS) is not the Red Sox of 2002 or 2003 when Henry took over or any of the WS Championships. It is far different (we can't hit). It was Devers attitude that made him become expendable (can't allow that to rub off). 2001 - 0.267 & 0.775 2002 - 0.277 & 0.791 - Henry took ownership. 2003 - 0.290 & 0.852 2004 - 0283 & 0.834 2007 - 0.280 & 0.807 2013 - 0.278 & 0.798 2018 - 0.269 & 0.793
  11. I was at the game yesterday. After the first inning the team seemed to just melt away in the sunshine (hell, the school kids on their summer camp field trips to the game had more energy screaming at the top of their lungs), we had none. Fitts wasn't the problem. Cora should have left him out to face the top of the lineup in the 5th. The Angels only one guy hitting above 0.228 in their lineup. Our problem is the constant lineup changes. The coaches think they are being smart about this, but it's more chaos than anything else with these young players. Pick a lineup and stick with it for a month. At this point we are a sub 0.500 team. I cannot see a rebound.
  12. Hamilton is a very good defensive player around the infield, but a poor hitter. Campbell has a much better upside as a hitter, But he hasn't had to struggle until now. So hopefully a short stay at AAA. As for Mayer and Anthony too early to tell.
  13. If the Red Sox had traded Devers to, let's say, the Angels for Mike Trout, I can get with that. Trout in Fenway would be a monster get. But for ???, umm, nobody? Nah. Bad trade.
  14. Harrison minutes away from starting for the Giants on National TV tonight when he's told he's been traded. And not only has he been traded, the Red Sox optioned him to the minors. What the heck.
  15. That's a crazy trade. We didn't shop him after the Giant inquired?
  16. Wilyer is good. He gets on base and plays D. He needs to remain in Right. If Duran's defense was better center field would be better than Rafaela but he's also go to be a FA after next year.
  17. We need to let the young guys play. When we all saw his lack of hustle on that ground out to 2nd a week ago, and Cora rolling his eyes, you know he had to go. The Giants haven't had a 30 homer season since Barry in 2004.
  18. That's a crazy trade. Can't see the value we are getting back, but getting rid of lack of hustle is okay.
  19. I like Dobbins. Lots of movement on his pitches in an era when many players are looking fastball.
  20. Did you closely watch Cora's eyes and reaction? He was pissed. He rolled his eyes. Devers reminds me of Manny Machado with his consistent lack of hustle and team player.
  21. Please. He's at best a journey man catcher. He shouldn't even be in the lineup if we had capable management. We have a team of bench warmers.
  22. With Narvaez as our cleanup hitter, that's not a good lineup.
  23. We left 11 men on base, the Angels just 8. We struck out 10 times, the Angels just 6. We made 3 errors (Angels radio announcers thought it should be 4), the Angels none. That loss is on Cora.
  24. The problem is we have too many poor offensive players and a number of questionable defensive players. After the slow start Devers seems to have suddenly become a more patient and selective hitter. His OBP is over 0.400. But then look at Story (signed through 2028), Rafaela (how was he signed to 2032?), Casas, Hamilton, Toro, and Wong and they cannot get on base (all with OBP less than 0.300). That's rather pathetic. When we don't get on base we cannot win.. The offensive stats which really stand out in our hitting is Ks, GDP, and LOB. We have the third most strikeouts in the MlB, behind the hapless Rockies and the Angels. Another stat is how few times we've grounded into double plays (only the Royals have grounded into less). And the big one is runners left on base where we lead the league. Those runners need to get home. We need to hit the ball, not strike out.
