  1. Breslow's the mediokerintendent.
  2. All season I said the Yanks wouldn't win with Judge in centerfield. It's not his fault he played there because he didn't build the roster, just like it wasn't Kike's fault he was forced to play shortstop his last year in Boston -- which tainted the memory of his contributions to Red Sox fans. But it was fun to root for Kike again, forever a hero in LA.
  3. I'm going to insulate my core by adding to my middle, sitting around all winter waiting for anything to happen.
  4. At least bitter Yankee fans today can take solace in two images from the '24 finale: Mookie driving in the run that won the World Series, and Verdugo whiffing on a dirtball to end it. The perfect postscript to the dumbest trade in Red Sox history! And there will be more in the years to come... unless Fitts ever Ks Betts to win one for Boston.
  5. Those who disagree and said signing Mookie wouldn't be worth it, because he couldn't win with what the Red Sox would surround him with -- since his contract ate up so much budget -- may want to reconsider. How about this: the Dodgers won two World Series because they signed Mookie. (so far...)
  6. Every time a poster or reporter types that LA beat NY because the Dodgers had the better defense, they're talking about Betts. Mookie was the best all-around player in the World Series. He made many great plays, robbing Yankee batters and fighting off thugs in the stands. He also drove in the run that won the title, led LA in OPS, and left Cole in the dust watching him hustle out a grounder that extended a comeback inning for the ages.
  7. Give it to Buehler -- he makes Yankees look stupid
  8. Pro-ratings were only for the pro players, and not the 300 members of the front office (number courtesy of WEEI), which never stops machinating...
  9. Not disagreeing with this post (but we shouldn't overlook he sucked in 2022, too). And we all agree Breslow and Bailey wouldn't have signed him if they didn't think they could fix him, and wouldn't have committed all that dough if he were damaged goods... ... but: Bailey stresses sweepers over heaters, and sweepers stress elbows more, and Giolito blew out his elbow in a couple of weeks after putting on the Boston uniform. Subsequently, the Sox' rotation -- and bullpen -- never had sufficient depth to make the postseason.
  10. Nothing personal, but every time someone posts Giolito at the top of the Red Sox' projected 2024 rotation, I still blame John Henry for lowering fan expectations... ... because threads still defend the Gio signing: It made sense, because he eats innings (yea, badly) We would've made the playoffs if he didn't get hurt (by pitching the most innings, badly?) Well, they paid him to be a Number One (bad-pitch thrower?) But the front office was so confident in Lucas, they gave him an opt-out if he succeeds (so... if he's good enough to get market value as a true ace, we no longer need him?)
  11. Yup, better hope the openers totally backfire tonight, can't find the plate, and fall behind... before the Yanks' bullpen blows another one at the end.
  12. We represent dislike-minded Red Sox fans all over the Nation.
  13. I never used the W or L words. But we have to admire LA's resiliency, especially with the obvious Manfred mandates to umpires to do everything they can to give viewers a long look at this big market match-up...
  14. Spot on. Big market teams have the resources to always cut their losses and never stop upgrading. The Dodgers are thriving in the World Series without one pitch from their two leaders at the top of the rotation in victories and games started, and without their closer with the most saves. LA's staff is leaning on two guys coming off injuries, another picked up at the trade deadline, and a deep pen... but they're all at least decent or better. They make their own luck.
  15. "One more year!" Let's slap together new rosters of has-beens and never-weres every winter, and just... get through... one more year... Again -- and aga -- and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............
  16. They could rent MSG and piss off NYC... damn, it's booked.
  17. Can't you see the true strategy in this investment? He was just at Dodger Stadium, sitting with Fried to watch Flaherty. The latter two are free agents this winter. Breslow is a genius. He's bringing the old high school rotation back together. As an incentive, Henry just has to sell all his Fenway property and move the club to California. There's a vacancy at the old Oakland Mausoleum -- where pitchers love its acres of foul territory.
  18. This postseason we're seeing several good starting pitchers who may be looking for a new place -- if the price is right... .... so that may exclude Fenway Park, if the front office recent hiring of a former Rays' player evaluator means more of the Tampa Bay WAY.
  19. We're not crazy, we're just a little criswell.
  20. To those posters who are about to type how grateful they are to John Henry for bringing them World Series winners over half-a-decade or more ago, I say this: I loved my first wife and have no regrets over the relationship we once had. But it sure didn't end well. Do they ever?
  21. Just think of all the Kluber we could sign for that!
  22. Why would you ever want to pinch-hit for the worst batter of that October, a hobbling-wounded guy whose legs were so shot he couldn't push off either to drive the ball? And why would anyone want to take crippled Buckner out of the heart of the order, batting third behind Boggs (best hitter in baseball) and Barrett (.400 in the postseason)? And why on earth would a manager use his team home run leader to pinch hit in a big spot? Even though only five players in the league socked more than Baylor's 31 HRs, he hadn't cranked a clutch longball since the 9th inning in Game 5 of the ALCS...
  23. Orlando Cabrera turning to the crowd and holding up four fingers on one hand and an empty fist on the other.
  24. Especially students, because Fenway has special discounts for them.
