  1. What a thrill it would be to take 3 of 4 in Yankee Stadium . How do you pitch to Judge ? Every 9th time after his 1st AB, but don't let him come up when it matters .
  2. Yes, it is highly offensive to see how the pitching "investment/disinvestment" results turned out. Almost all negative outcomes. Breslow seriously needs to get much smarter or luckier in building this staff for 2025 . With the maturing of the young guys, plus maybe a season of Story, Giolito by mid-year, this team should be looking down on Royals/Tigers/twins etc. Not staring up their tailpipes wishing and hoping. Wishing and hoping is not a strategy.
  3. T.O. with a multi-run HR and walkoff. Well, it is why we all keep coming back for more.
  4. Sox may be the one team in MLB who are at a distinct disadvantage with no outs and a man on 2nd, or even third in extra innings. Orioles convert immediately on a bouncer because their hitter made contact
  5. Aside from Rafeala's awful chasing in the 9th, Story is predictably stuck somewhere in Spring Training mode.
  6. Alex Speier's article addressed why this 2-1 game is not the type of game Boston should be playing with win expectations . Slaten's 2 out HR ball to Santander is exactly why. Going by memory but Sox may not have won any game this season scoring 2 runs or less ( obviously). Pivetta pitched a Quality Start and a 1 run gem to have it stolen by an incompetent with an ugly beard
  7. Cedanne is ready for MLB. He just has little recognition of pitches out of the zone. Amazed any pitcher throws him stuff over the plate vicinity, BUT he did just hit a pitch for an RBI single., getting him to 70 RBI's, not unsubstantial at all.
  8. O'Neill doesn't like to be bothered when playing the field
  9. proposition bettors got scammed by Pivetta. It took until the 3rd inning to give up the HR, and once again, play from behind. A familiar position for the Sox fans.
  10. Does this erratic post A-S period ( majority losses) indicate the true overall team talent level as about a .500 level? Or: A team that is playing up to 4 rookies any given night , and until Story's return, a weak MI Or: A starting rotation with no #1 or arguably #2 ? Guys who have exceeded their inning highs and the 3,4,5 slots are filled with pitchers who may or may not be back next year. Or: A couple of key hitters who are streaky for various reasons, and a DH who is slower than a penguin . Or: A BP full of rag arms and wannabes who are low ability or worn out at this point. Exception granted to Jansen, but not Martin. Or: A FO staff who have a hard time selecting or are very unlucky in the choices they do make ? To me, it is all of the above plus a certain lack of grittiness or ability to make things happen when it matters.
  11. Over/Under on Pivetta allowed HRs by end of second inning is 1.5 . The guy just can't help himself. Hope he has a great start and shuts out the O's through 6, well, except for the 2 HRs
  12. Crawford's pitches are becoming center cuts with almost no movement. My guess is that the arms on guys in all time high innings pitched are worn out. Houck is similar and he gets an extra 3 days off. One concern is whether the Sox in their Don Quixote pursuit of the elusive third WC injure the arms of guys they will need again next year over the final 17 or so games.
  13. The Sox starters seem to inevitably give up the firsts inning lead run , typically HR, so the team plays from behind . It is a recurring story particularly since the A-S break( down) Early inning Sox batters compound it with a dazzling array of K's
  14. The bats have come alive. Baltimore thought it could steal a game with a mediocre LH'er pitching for them. Not tonight Birds. Orioles are in a funk that would drive any fan nuts. Maybe Red Sox should just sweep them for 4 and kiss the O's goodbye
  15. I get the impression that if you subscribe, you are exempt from the ads. They are annoying but so is all advertising. Someone needs to pay for all this action
  16. Bello is a mindless thrower of the ball. No command, no control, hitting 85 pitches in the 4th inning. It would be truly pointless to make the WC since the Sox pitching cannot bear down when needed.
  17. Hard to argue with O'Neill's HR total but he will play about 2/3rds the games this year, and was MIA with his bat for a long while
  18. Wong saves Gonzalez from looking like the inexperienced guy he is on that grounder and subsequent spineroo. throw.
  19. Just pleasedd as punch with the Sox starters , other than Criswell, who think it is part of the deal to fall behind in the first inning. Bello does it often. Play from behind. Feels better when you finally win.
  20. Yesterday also confirmed that the 2024 season is over with respect to making a rush to the WC finish line. If that was to be accomplished, it needed to start 2 weeks ago. The bats may yet heat up and recover from their swoon, but there is no saving this dog ass bullpen . And save the electrons telling me Kelly's stats. If he is our most productive, safest bet in the BP, then it is beyond OVER. Also getting very close to trashing Chris Martin as a competitor. Mental problems through yesterday's "illness" . Go home Chris, you're fully baked now.
  21. Fellows, with a record of 3-4 against an historically bad team like CWS, there is your season in a nutshell. Baltimore , NY and Rays on tap for the next 10 . I'll say 3-7. 2024 is officially over as far as being competitive.
  22. I simply cannot relate to Zach Kelly . Worthless thrower
  23. Abreu draws a lot of trade talk as being the guy who , as part of a deal, could bring a good #2/#3 pitcher. That puts a lot of confidence in Anthony to become a productive MLB'er
  24. He may have been a little gassed, but it was Casas who opened the doors to those 2 runs.
  25. Bulletin just in--- Sox officially losing to the Sox despite Weissert's best effort, and inability to hit
