  1. Hold on folks.... here comes the BP blowup that will sink this game into the deepening abyss
  2. Abreu , like Devers, cannot hit a center cut FB due to the undercutting loop in his swing. This guy has no concept with 2 men on base in a 1-1 game. Probably a weak mind in an adult body
  3. Story smacking the bat as Pepiot thought he could get away with a few more cookies. Actually good to see that Colorado-like power . Would have been a wallball at Fenway.
  4. Not sure if we can backcheck on the revised site but I think we both called the 78-84 Threepeat back in late March. Now I'm concerned about the 78
  5. Pepiot gets the immaculate inning with 9 strikes for 3 K's. Incredible that Pep had no fear of putting the ball across the plate for these tough guys.
  6. Casas looks like a hippo in heat at 1B the last 2 games
  7. Please put Devers out of his misery. He simply cannot contribute at this point
  8. I'll give Story through next April to prove his real abilities with the bat, but he could be a classic misread of a hitting prowess. Like Yoshida, the Sox are stuck with the dude for awhile longer .
  9. Watching the inept ABs after Casas' double just drives home how unfocused this team became in late August/early September. Illinois is right in that there is little pop left in the bats. Duran may have played himself out of a great season by never taking a few games off, including the A-S game festivities. They all look tired and slow.
  10. The good part of a trade for Rendon is that he probably would not show up in order to spend more time with his family.
  11. It would be disappointing if Tanner stresses his arm/shoulder any further by pitching today . The fight for 3rd place is a war of attrition . That is 3rd place ALE. not 3rd Wild Card . That ship has sailed while we were at the airport.
  12. But there is only 10 more years on his deal. Should be able to move him along after 8 or 9
  13. A 2 out soft liner combined with a slow LF'er and you give up 3 runs. Concede the 9th. Following these guys since the A-S break has been miserable.
  14. Winckowski has become the long mop up man for Boston. After 40 pitches, he has trouble getting outs
  15. I sure hope Nevers has a big season planned for 2025. Happy for him that his defense has improved. If you think his shoulder condition is impeding his hitting, then why is he still swinging like a gorilla, but missing a lot ?
  16. Another 2 run score, or will we see a comeback ? Not in this game, unless a hitter shows up💀
  17. I'm thinking it is 4-8 for these last 12, getting them to 79 wins so Sam Kennedy can point to the improvement over the prior two 78-84 s. Actually 3 years running at 78-84 is a difficult feat but it is possible.
  18. Pivetta was about to get my compliments on a well pitched 3 innings when he allowed the obligatory HR on an 0-2 pitch . Still, Casas gave him him a little coverage with a 2 run HR, settle down Nick. It will be interesting to see what type of offers Pivetta gets this winter. He has some ability to dominate for a while, but can also slide into mediocrity. If he wasn't already on the Sox, he is probably the type of cost effective inning eater Breslow would be looking for. Who knows, they may want to sign him .
  19. A trip to the Trop is always exciting and filled with misadventures. Sox are in a struggle with the Rays to see who will finish 3rd/4th in the mighty ALE. Sox can keep the lock on the Rays with a win tonight . Not much discussion about if Tanner Houck should pitch again this year. I would say no, nothing to be gained pushing his tired arm/shoulder further, at the risk of worsening it.
  20. He had 4 hits, if you count running into Devers on that pop-up.
  21. If you like HR's buy a season ticket to Crawfish started games and you won't be disappointed. It is one thing to be a little off but another thing to lead a league in certain categories. We tend to discount W-L records as being not indicative of a pitcher's true worth or ability. But one indisputable fact is that an "L" means that pitcher was responsible for the run scored that put his team behind, from which they never recovered to tie or take the lead. Crawford's 14 losses ( soon to be 15) and the 33 Hr's in 31 starts cannot be fully overlooked as a less than stellar season. A loss in the BP is worse because it generally means that the pitcher came in with the score tied or his team ahead and let the opponent recover and win, usually after the 5th/6th inning
  22. No, but it does sit LH'er Casas which could be a plus for the moment
  23. I saw very little live of this game but when dumbass Story crashed into Devers, who still made a key juggling catch of the popup while screaming "I got it" , I sincerely hoped Story was on the ground because his shoulder popped out. In a year of poor defensive support , Story's blunder by a veteran takes the cake. Great team game overall , plus another couple new pitchers to love on . Makes the loss of last night be emphasized, not soothed. Please win tomorrow, Boston .
  24. Finally a comment about the only stat that does matter, w's and L's. A stat that takes into account all aspects of the game ( Offense/defense/pitching), plus uncontrollable variables from weather to ballpark shapes. Wins matter. The second half Red Sox of '24 are seeing the effect of that on their fan base.
  25. The dog crap PigPen as, SS names them, have the worst ERA in MLB since the A-S break. So Brez does his job and goes out and gets reinforcements before the deadline. Both of those turds are currently unavailable securing Breslow's rep for hiring only the lonely and the wounded.
