    Amazing how the first innings go when Duran leads off with a hit, then Abreu and finally Casas with a massive blast for a 3-0 lead. Then the camera goes to Cora and you can see the worry already whether the BP will be able to hold this one. Or maybe it is how many shots will Nick P. give up ?

    Going to Boston later this week for the first time in a few years. Bought Sox-Diamondback tix for Friday night right behind the Sox bullpen in RF. I will gladly deliver, in person, any messages of encouragement any of you fellows wish to express. Have mercy if they blow any more leads .

    Can't expect Kenley to be be perfect every night. Sims sucked walking the leadoff batter . Had Paul Simon over to the house for a cold one, after the Diaz HR, asked him to play a couple verses of " Slip Slidin' Away" He sounded great acapella

    Yes, another very good outing by Houck. Jansen is who he is. The starting pitching is trending back towards the early season, thankfully. Still need Criswell to feel good and capable again

    But enough about defensive abilities. This game will go to the Sox bullpen, clearly the worst ever assembled or paid money, other than a few of the guys. These guys are so bad they give amateur baseball a bad name . This game is destined to go 22 innings because of the combined hopeless defense and Bullpen. Anyone biting ?

    11 AM is a relative time, depending on time zone. It is the Red Sox Nation covering 4 time zones. Most people think there are three. So set a standard, and if it is EDT/EST, then you are biased towards East Coast idiots. totally unfair

    Two players losing ground in my Pantheon of Red Sox heroes ( LOL) : Tyler O'Neill and Romy Gonzalez. Both failed in a rare 1st inning rally by the Sox led by my man Duran

    How about the Houston infield thoroughly soaked to the point of mud to slow down the Sox speed. Really ought to be some standards on field prep

    Interesting take that with 9 to go, Sox might still not be eliminated from the WC chase. If starting pitching can make a next 30 game rebound as seen from Bello and Houck , and KC ever loses a game with Mariners treading water , this could happen. But Criswell will need to rebound, Crawford needs to get into the 6th inning with some effectiveness and the BP , other than Martin/Jansen needs to find themselves. I think it will come down to one team or another hitting a 9-10 Win streak or 9-10 game losing streak. If you look back at almost every opportunity Boston has had over the past 3 months to jump ahead, they have muddled around 2-3 wins/2-3 losses. Never a run of over 5 wins. Draw your own conclusions.

    Oh and Rafaela's arm (accuracy, not power) at SS is very suspect. As Moon says , Cedanne should not even be at that position.

    I know many here think very highly of Cedanne Rafaela , and he has huge talents and potential to become a very good player. He is also contract controlled for multiple years , through 2031 plus an option year. He is, however, the worst chaser of bad pitches I have seen, but not in a good way like Devers and Vlad Guerrero, Sr were. Maybe he will become that but until he can improve his pitch selection , he'll be more potential than serious production. He is also a rookie who can play two key positions , so there is that.

    It is amazing that a guy like Povich with a 1.56 WHIP and a 5.71 ERA can have shut this hitting team down so far ( through 4) . Any team playing the Sox should just run any LH'ers from their system out to the mound, so they can gain confidence If Casas' long fly to right had been about 3' longer and higher, it would have changed the game a lot. Bello dealing pretty well.
