  1. Looked it up: Pomeranz was the LP , giving up 5 runs in 2.2 innings, on 4 hits and 2 walks. Drew may need another quickie down there before going on the 60 day DL with brain cramps.
  2. Anyone know if Pomeranz did pitch for Pawtucket tonight and how it went?
  3. If not for that HR, I would have recommended that JDM pinchhit for the flailing Benintendi. Prove me wrong, Andrew
  4. Got to the bullpen and got a Betts blast, definitely needed
  5. I was about to say that Rick's pitches in the 5th were getting high in the zone, but he beat me to it by serving up a meatball. P.S. He is getting no support in terms of runs from any of his hitters.
  6. Beni be too busy thinking about his 3 K's and his current slump
  7. Sure hope the Sox hitters don't think 3 runs will be enough tonight. They need to wear Scherzer out. That last inning was way to quick.
  8. Nice contract year he is having
  9. Much agreed. I hope Alex sees what is going on when Holt "subs" for Nunez who has to be worn down.
  10. Scherzer throwing on a pace for 100 in 5 innings. Look out bullpen. And Porcello with the only significant hit.
  11. 2 guys hit so far ? Rick P needs to brush back Scherzer next time
  12. Porcello, the cat quick fielder, superb hitter and allower of hits so Mookie-Devers can make outs happen
  13. It's most likely the heavy drinking between innings
  14. Benintendi is, in fact , trending into slump territory. Last 7 days , he is hitting .208, plus 0-2 with 2 K's tonight. That is different than a career decline but it is a slump, which he is prone to do after a strong run.
  15. Porcello has one of MLB's highest 2 strike, 2 out rbi ratios
  16. Rick Porcello busts Scherzer's bubble. Nice anticipation by Leon to get out of Rick's way by swinging at a ball between his legs
  17. You can't coach stupid, especially when it's in the Front Office.
  18. Assuming this table is all-MLB , it represents a universe of about 150 starting pitchers . Price, Wright and Erod are in the lower third, Porcello is mid range. Over a months time that's not championship level performance, except for Sale.
  19. The pitcher is only as valuable as his next start if he can overcome whatever blew up in his last start . Let's see what Erod and Price do next time out. I think the real gist of it is that eventually you will need to beat Houston and/ or New York to be in the Series. Price and Erod will have ???? in their own heads , Porcello is sometimes dominant but not always. It's Sale who you can count on to bring the mental and physical aspect of winning a big game. Don't fully forget that most of these guys were major participants in the Cleveland and Houston ALDS over the past two seasons. How did that work for you ?
  20. Given the recent history and surgery, no way can you count or rely on Thornburg being effective. If he is, it's a bonus and big help. If not , it may take until 2019 to get any value out of him. Velazquez as your #5 starter is not the answer either. He and Johnson can plug a one time hole but not as a regular. IMO, Pomeranz will be given every chance to earn back the spot and it may take 2 or 3 cycles of the rotation to reach a conclusion before the deadline, 7/31. I wouldn't rely on Drew being effective either . Like Price, another guy hard to root for just based on durability and facial expressions .
  21. Yeah, if you liked Severino, you will love Schwerzer assuming he goes Monday night
  22. And if you think Hector Velazquez is any part of the answer to the starting or relieving pitching on this team except fpr garbage time, think again. He has nothing Manny Del Carmen didn't have. The hitters showed no particular abilities either against tough competition.
  23. Keep in mind they are tied with 4 games to play by the Yankees . That is a full game to 2 game differential.
  24. No what felt good coming out of his hand was the Xbox controller last night at 4 AM. Hope Haley has his bags packed too as he is not quite ready for prime time. Only 15 more outs to go , son.
  25. It would be hard to dislike a player on your team more than David Price unless it was another TB alum, Carl Crawford. Anyone who thinks this team does not need another grinder of a vet starter is fooling themselves.
