  1. IMO, the Sox will still consider getting a vet starter . One factor will be the strength of Wright's knee situation. It may be intermittent or like Pedey's , chronic problem all year. Johnson and Velazquez did do well for limited innings vs the Angels who sucked pretty much the last several games, until they met the Orioles last night. Assuming that the last 3 games (at Fenway) with NYY are critical to the AL East win, Cora will have fun juggling the last two weeks to get Sale, Price and Porcello lined up just right to win it. I wouldn't trust Erod, Wright , Johnson or Velazquez with one of those games if they were critical.
  2. The Sox faced a pitcher tonight, while the Yankees feasted on a couple of throwers.
  3. I think the extra 4 games played by Boston has worn them out vs the well rested Yankees. Cora should have played his AAAA lineup tonight to rest everyone who needs it.
  4. Well, at least he didn't walk Bird on the 3-2 pitch. It will be illuminating to see how our Ace Sale responds tomorrow, and whether anyone brings a bat to bash Sonny Boy Gray
  5. Correct , but mid speed straight fastballs up in the zone to Judge and Stanton are something Haley will be able to talk about to his buddies back in Pawtucket. Doesn't seem to have any movement at all on the fastball except the long arc into the Rf stands by judge. Stanton just missed his.
  6. The hopeless K's were Vazquez and Devers in case you were watching. Betts AB was actually worse after he finished it.
  7. Exactly what was Mookie looking for on the 2-0 and 3-1 counts, where he got some center cut medium fastballs, only to dribble out on a horseshit 3-2 pitch. Betts made CC's night instead of knocking him out.
  8. Jackie takes one for the team, now Mookie's turn to light it up after 2 hopeless K's
  9. Great reaction to his offside by Devers, maybe the bats will now show up.
  10. I guess running Erod back out there against the middle of the lineup is a "character building" lesson in lieu of No Mas
  11. Julio is either tired or just can't time slop pitches and that hurts their chances of a comeback
  12. Now a JDM blast here would make it a game again. Will Cora let Erod bleed or let Haley see the big time show ?
  13. See the size of Gardner's glove ? Big enough to cover CC's prodigous ass
  14. It would also help him to lose the A. Lincoln beard. His fastball only diet makes it look scruffy
  15. Now you get a taste of what it's like to be an Orioles or Angels fan. Remember the Rays just swept these guys
  16. Gives up an HR to a .167 hitter. This guy has a loser mentality
  17. Nice start Erod, your walk comes home and you give up nothing but EBH's.
  18. Many like to crap all over Nunez and he deserves some of it, but I never have thought Xander Bogaerts was any kind of elite SS either. That was a pitiful AB. At least Nunez is playing daily when he was signed on as a utility player.
  19. Nice graphic on Pearce by NESN. Lifetime 83 HR's but only 28 rbi's. Must have missed stepping on the plate a lot.
  20. C.B. Bucknor at third base umpire? Does he rotate to home or second-then first , so we don't have to see him miscall pitches behind the plate/
  21. The umpires do not run much, mostly stand in place watching the game until something catches them by surprise and they wake up with no worries because replay will get it right.
  22. I would think it is almost assured that even if Pedey does not play again this year or the knee inflames on another restart that he will be at 2019 ST in Ft. Myers and give it a try. The guy will not just walkaway from the opportunity or the money to be commercial about it. If he could play 110-120 games with some effectiveness, he will be out there trying to do so.
  23. What is it if you split a 3 game series, lol ?
  24. I have a completely unfounded hypothesis that some pitchers lack a lot of self confidence and easily talk themselves out of their potential abilities. They are also sometimes not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Recent examples , IMO, are Clay Buchholz and Daniel Bard. Joe Kelly's "streakiness" (not inconsistency) is beginning to look similar. Joe may be the JBJr of the BP. I rewatched his inning from last night again. He had 0-2 counts on Trout and Upton, only to walk MT and give up a hit to Upton. He was ahead of Pujols 0-1 before his hit scored trout. Simmons hit a bullet that Betts intercepted, and Beni made a leaping catch to stop the next shot. Finally Joe git a routine fly ball. OK, so two games in a row of true slop and never a domiant pitch after getting a strike or two up. Indicates no fine command of his fastball or slider. Just a bad 2 nights or a guy who cannot bring a tough mindset to the park each day ?
