  1. It's always a great day when the Yankees have the potential to lose 2 games ! Go ahead Nationals and crush the nuts on their sundae.
  2. Fat Panda should be ashamed to be playing in SF while getting paid by Boston. I understand contracts very well but baseball needs an out clause for no-guaranteed money, like the NFL. Maybe pay off the season the guy is DFA'ed but no more. Will never happen as the Players Union would go batshit. But allowing a guy to become a minimum salary FA with multi-years left is a competitve imbalance and Manfred needs to wake up tomorrow and change it.
  3. So at 9-1 but generally with short starts (113 pitches for 6 innings with a nice lead today), does Eduardo get picked for the All-Star game ?
  4. They did lose 50 before the Sox won 50 !
  5. Well, the dogs of the lineup showed up today . Devers, Moreland, and Bradley contributed to the win. The split was sort of the minimum success level but with a Rays win over the Yanks, we'll take the 2-2 outcome. The reality is that with just a few small differences, this would have been a sweep in Seattle. All the games were winnable/
  6. One thing we do know was that Denard Span (and Colome) were available earlier. Span could have been in LF, Beni in CF and Mookie stays in right. JBJr--- he was last seen going to a pitching machine for bunting practice.
  7. That's good at least TB won't be shutout. We hung a 6 on the Mariners the other night until Hembree and Barnes showed up for lunch. Glad TB "hung" it on CC the Hutt. The Sox last 18 at bats in Seattle resulted in exactly one scoring breakout, the aforementioned 6 spot, which proved to be a little short.
  8. Ian Browne, a homer if there ever was one, says Cora is talking about Bradley Trying to bunt for base hits, maybe get his OBP over .300. I have watched JBJr try to bunt over the past two years, including yesterday. He has no clue, and probably doesn't want to do it since bunters don't get paid like high K-out guys ( Oh but those guys hit a few HR and doubles too)
  9. Son, you done got whupped by superior talent. Nice try boys, but not quite ready for primetime in Seattle.
  10. Looks like a true batting hangover since the 4th inning last night. West Coast road trips, always fun.
  11. Pleasecomment as to why that matters when you can't score with some predictibility ? Scored in one inning vs Mariners . 15 of 16 xeroes
  12. Mitch is definitely slumping and it is hurting now
  13. That loss stings because they had the Mariner's ace beat, then watched the Hembree and Barnes cough it up, and not one clutch hitter the equal of Denard F'ing Span. And , of course, the relentless Yankees shutout the sucking TB Rays.
  14. Yes, he sucks too. Hembree and Barnes are not elite relievers, can't throw tough strikes when they need to. Seattle is a good team but they gave this game away, and Denard Span is another sucking former Ray.
  15. What a wasted inning, that could be costly
  16. May as well be honest, you can take bradley and shove him where the sun doesn't shine. he is a terrible offensive player and take his glove with you if it makes you feel better to have him in CF. HE CANNOT SEE WELL ENOUGH TO BUNT
  17. Getting a 4th opinion as to how big a jackass he really is.
  18. Hembree is a genius. Gives up an HR to a .213 hitting catcher, then issues a 2 out walk so Cruz will hit now and maybe not in the 9th. Got to hand it to you Heath.
  19. Hembree is awful and should not be out there. No way 6 runs will get this one
  20. Thanks again. Tells me to play Holt for now against RHP and probably lefties too.
  21. porcello must be manic-depressive . No other explanation for the wide variance in his command.
  22. The shift has changed the game, but it saved 2 runs there and bailed Porcello out of his own mess. 6 runs won't win this one, with 12 outs to go.
  23. Porcello pitching with 2 outs is like watching porcelain hit the tile floor.
  24. With these two guys, OBP may be more significant against same side pitching particularly if they are going to bat #6/7/8 and Mookie Betts will be hitting #1. But interesting numbers and appreciate the insight
  25. Not knowing the real status, future and abilities of some of the minor leaguers moved on by Dave D., I will say there isn't someone I wish we had today. On this list of 13 acquisitions, Kimbrel is the only high achiever. Nunez has paid dividends and will continue as long as Pedroia is MIA ; Pomeranz is still a possible asset as it gets into the second half but definitely m,ore a question than an answer. Thornburg, who knows, probably learn more in July or later ; Carson Smith, a proven idiot , not in a funny way. In fact, self inflicted tantrum injuries should relieve the team of having to pay his salaryfor the duration. Overall, DD has not traded for to obtain big production except Kimbrel . Pomeranz had a nice 2017 but no carryover, Nunez is still a useful utility guy, Smith is a jerk, and Thornburg is an unknown quantity. You can say that Pomeranz, Thornburg and Smith (nitwit) all came with arm issues, some of which are not yet cleared up, as well as new ones from the same guys. The one criticism has been Travis Shaw's awakening in Milwaukee, but what would they have done with Devers besides leave him in Pawsox land for another year or so, and Travis was not tearing up the AL East at the time. i do think Dd has some work cut out before the deadline and will move two or more guys from the current 40 man roster to shore up one or more positions up the middle.
