  1. Great K by Bra-man after giving up the key hit to Yelich. Cora's luck on picking the hot hand out of the pen is missing
  2. Franchy still looks awkward at 1B, poor footwork and stumbling even when making a play.
  3. Notice how Vazquez hustled the last 30 feet home to avoid not scoring in case Dugo got thrown out at second. That was good thinking
  4. Thank you Dugo for making it a game
  5. Keep in mind that after the first place Brewers work on the Sox, we go to Houston for a really good team. Maybe the lineup starts reshaping by then but Story won't be part of it. You have to hand it to him for giving the team a hand
  6. To further emphasize the depths of this hitting slump by the whole team, keep in mind that 3 of the 4 runs in last night's fortunate win were on one swing. This team has otherwise generated 1 run at home over the past 14 innings
  7. Back in history, the Sox used to use a SP Tom Brewer as a PR. If you have a running, intelligent SP as a PR then you save the backup bench player . Not sure if any of the Sox SP's know how to run the bases.
  8. I hope someone told Brayan that Tellez was frequently Rowdy vs the Red Sox. Don't let him beat you.
  9. Duran is like a beer after a whisky shot---a chaser. Showing few signs of growth as a hitter
  10. Sale and Rendon cancel each other out because neither still plays the game. Brandon Marsh would fit right in, K'ing over 33% of the time, while OPS'ing low-mid.600s. The other 4 for Ohtani would be a worthwhile trade, especially if O DH's and Sox could get a good prospect for JDM. HOWEVER, Ohtani has one year ( 2023) under control before his floodgates open for super bucks.
  11. Take a win by any means. Whitlock not sharp but fielded his position and got it done
  12. Is everybody sure that Whitlock is all that in tough relief situations ?
  13. Realize that JDM has not had a hit since July 15 when he went 2 for 5 vs Yankees.
  14. it would be a great asset if Crawford can turn into a reliable flex starter going forward, and for '23
  15. Now, if we only had a closer, lol Cora and his sequence of throwers better not mess this one up. Also move people around to get Cordero off 1B
  16. Great work by Bogey. Forget McKenzie's dominance so far. Also Dugo getting his hit in front of him
  17. Rocket's either still on the roids or eats way too much barbecue
  18. It was humorous to hear Tom Caron and Ellis Burke's laud Cora in the pregame discussion for running Franchy right back out there tonight after 3 errors and essentially costing the game last night. It could have hurt Franchy's confidence to have to sit on the bench tonight. News for TC and EB--- You will not see Franchy on that roster next year, so I don't really care about his development into a confident young ballplayer. If he was still in Worcester, that support would maybe make some sense.
  19. There is a considerable amount of time spent in various forums geared towards the budget/luxury tax. Keep in mind, there is no salary cap in baseball, J. Henry could authorize spending any amount for key players like Betts and Devers. Bloom is only operating under the guidelines he is given by ownership. One of those must be , Be Competitive. The additions or progression of guys in the system has not yet paid off well for Bloom. He will ultimately pay for those shortcomings with his job.. I understand and agree with avoiding 10 year range contracts. Imagine if we had locked up JDM for 8=10 years as the best DH, post Ortiz in MLB. The team would be choking on that pill for a few more years. Sorry to say, same for Bogaerts , although Bogey could opt in himself if he wanted to stay with the Red Sox , and still live very comfortably in Aruba the rest of his life.
  20. Thanks for the link , good background
  21. Repeated setbacks with the back, halted 2 rehab starts, unknown if possible to return at all.
  22. Easy to think that when you see the way the roster gets used, including BP assignments. But , I don't think losing at this stage makes anything better . Flopping may help in the NBA and soccer but not so much here. I will say, just to stir the natives, that if we had a closer we would easily be 10-15 games better this year. A 9th inning HR off Houck really left a bad taste.
  23. Unbelievable run for this team going 1-5 in the first 6 of 11 to the trade deadline. Who says you have to wait until 5:559 EDT on 8/2 to make a move ? No one. I understand some GMs don't want to appear either panicky or to not get the best deal, but if you truly need help, why wait. I don't put the Sox in that category because they could not add enough skilled players to make a serious difference. Their best chance is for the IL players to actually return and contribute .
  24. Nothing better than OJT when you are trying to recover to .500 , with a short term lock on 5th place in AL East.
