  1. I think Dugo did again what you called out over the weekend, and that is admiring the parabolic arc of the ball's flight from the vantage point of the LH batter's box. Failing to proceed in an easterly direction before a sharp turn northward at 1B. The hit was great, anytime A Sox LH'er uses the wall it's good, but AD is missing a few synapses that many ballplayers have.
  2. On the day Mrs. Dalbec gave birth to Big Bobby, a 20 hour ordeal, the Dr said, Mrs. Dalbec, I have good news and bad news. " Dr., what 's the news??" "Well, it seems you have a big , athletic son who is bound to play in Fenway Park one day !" " What could possibly be wrong then, DR,?" " Well, I have to tell you, it looks like he's already down , 0-2 ."
  3. I understand that the value of the #3 WC slot is to play the AL Central champ in the first round. So, they're saying there is a chance
  4. Let's trade for Kwan. He's our type . The Monster and tall grass ate his lunch
  5. Was it Leo Mazzili , Braves pitching coach who rocked back and forth all game long ?
  6. You were one strike away and Nick couldn't force the guy to hit.
  7. A 2 out, 3-2 walk should offend a pitcher's sensibilities, then comes the hitters
  8. 3 impressive ABs by the past, present and future heroes
  9. If Bloom does not acquire a 1Bman specifically, then you will have both these guys through the season . If the plan is wait on Casas for '23 , then you will see one or both go by ST. I'm sure they are being dangled in every deal discussion, but what GM would want Dalbec. Cordero may have a blind batter's chance of hanging around
  10. Cannot tolerate the shift. That and dribblers cost the Sox all last week
  11. This where it all goes to DP heaven for Pivetta
  12. How many called K's does Dalbec have this year. He has never learned the fine art of fouling off 6 straight to get one he can hit ( 80 mph, Center/center)
  13. I bet Tito sits in the rocking chair on the porch of his local Cracker Barrel restaurant spittin' seed shells on the shoes of the little ol' blue haired ladies coming in for early dinners
  14. I will have no sympathies for the GM who mortgages his team for 10 years to get Aaron Judge. I'd rather give him $100 million for 2 years, maybe get a title and move on. His injury history will continue as he ages. If in doubt, see Trout. I only mention Angels because I see/hear their BS in media here in SoCal. They are a godforsaken, hot mess year after year and have NOT been able to buy their way out of it. They fired Joe Maddon, looking for a spark and got electrocuted worse, lol
  15. Prepping for a multi-player move getting rid of some OF'ers on this team ?
  16. I think that rain delay was the longest the Sox have held a lead since July 17.
  17. Missed almost all of 2021 with his calf injury that wouldn't heal . Another super contract that will not pay out as expected. Trout's deal made Pujol's 10 years of Angeldom look cheap. I am definitely falling in the camp of no long term ( over 5+ club options) big(gest) $$$$ contracts . Yes, the occassional superstars will move on from you in the current system. But , IMO, better to pay 5 guys who can contribute well enough, than one guy enough to buy the team back. Plus LAA now has the problem of what to do with Ohtani ? They can't win with Trout and Ohtani, don't even mention Rendon who is their version of Sale.
  18. If JBJr used that stroke 70% of the time , instead of the pulled rollover, he could have been somebody. Easier said than done
  19. He just got the curve back ( hopefully) on that Ramirez K, but he's giving up hits, balls up in the zone. I agree, he could tagged with a 3 run 5 hit inning at any time
  20. Saw that shot of Tito wearing the dark blue cap with red letter, and the matching jersey in the dugout and was transported back to the WS years, and some not quite so great.
  21. Now there is a guy, if JDM could swing a bat, looks like a man who does need a day off.
  22. Almost 25% of the payroll is Price's tailend, and Sale's non-contributions in '22, then there the $ 11 million to JBJr, and a sore back $20MM DH with 38 rbi's on the season
  23. Is JDM screwing with the Bloom, trying to stay down in the back until after the deadline? He seems to be showing off his inability to get in the box, since he doesn't play the field really.
  24. Verlander pitches like an Ace after his TJ. We extend Saale, then he gets TJ, then he breaks his own ribs, then can't go to Toronto (unforeseen at the time), then he comes back and gets smashed with a line drive to his pitching hand. After Devers, the Sox MiLB system has not produced future stars. There may be a few on the cusp , and some are getting trial by fire, but "stars" will be coming to a ballpark near you after Devers moves on.
  25. The reality is that the injury bug has made a shambles of the roster and lineup over the past two weeks. The uniforms look the same but there is no "stuff" in them. Dalbec and Cordero are not starters on a pennant seeking team. Downs and Duran need more work and even then may not be significant players. Verdugo is a an odd duck, some ability, not much 'motor" . Vaz, JDM, Bogey are possibly looking at their last times in Boston. Jackie Bradley, a defensive replacement at best. Frail Sale is done for this year. 5 other pitchers counted on for this year simultaneously on the IL , Taylor all year. Paxton was never a factor. Bello , at least, is getting some picture of what MLB pitcher's need to do. The simple fact that 30 year Ort pitched the 6th+ inning of his career today tells you a lot. Defensive lapses occur. Kike and Arroyo have been real helps, or NOT so much or even at all. June's run was very hopeful, but hope is not a strategy to win. .
