Speaking of Sale, try this on for size . His surgically repaired little finger will recover in terms of the fracture, although knowing sale it will take longer than expected, maybe all the way until it's time to go to Toronto again .OOPS, not allowed in.
The finger and joint will be stiff and probably sensitive, like Chris himself. Although gripping the ball to pitch a FB, slider, etc doesn't normally involve the little finger, it does affect the change up grip. Chris will be concious of the finger and make some modification of his throwing and not be the same Freak we all know and love. To me he is already effectively out for the balance of '22 . The question will remain whether he will be any part of the pitcher he once was in '23. OR could Chaim find a GM who would take Sale for next year ( now or over the winter) and pay us off with a starter and position player of some skill ? Or is 2 more years of dead money with this guy?
