  1. Wacky Wacha and his riotous Red Sox will engage Kevin Gausman in a game of baseball in Canada. One of the objects of the game of baseball is to score points, called runs, a concept not terribly familiar to Boston since crossing the border. With nothing at stake will our fearless 9+1 take the reins and pound the birdbrain Blue Jays into submission ? Don't bet on it.
  2. Down 10-0 in top 9, I have no concerns that the Sox will damage the Boston-Toronto run differential this season. It is an all-time club record that should stand as long as TSW's .406
  3. Back to the basic formula , the 4 F's : 1. Fall behind early ; 2. Fail to hit for 5 or 6 innings; 3. Forget to throw strikes; 4. Failure of the bullpen guys to hold the deficit close. All 4 pathways will result in a failure to win.
  4. 23-48 (.323) in the AL East, Pivetta's contribution to that is 1-8, .877 OPS against. Nick, get a hold of yourself, the same guys will be back next April. Work on something, anything.
  5. Franklin German will need to work on his game off season if he expects to make many Benjamin Franklins in the future
  6. Tyler Danish throws 7 pitches giving up an HR and 2 other hits. He looks a little vulnerable 10 pitches, 2 HRs and 3 runs given. Cora's bullpen roulette backfires again. But he whiffs Bichette, so there's that Then punches out Guerrero.; Once Tyler is warmed up, he's a devil of a pitcher
  7. Duran shows the team how to hit Manoah. Blow the bat up and bloop it out into no man's land Erased by a Devers DP
  8. Given Nick's pricing and the ability to start 32 games this year, I am sure he will be in the mix.
  9. Turns out that ORT was the unvax'ed this time . And tomorrow Justin Castro Trudeau's government lifts its restrictions on allowing unvax'ed visitors, so all is forgiven.
  10. Pivetta takes 89 pitches to complete 4 innings and allows 4 runs, aided by a WP and PB to set up runners on 3rd , who are then delivered. Blu4e Jays lineup features 5 guys with .800+ OPS's. Sox show 4 but 2 of them are Casas and Almonte on small samples sizes.
  11. In a space/time continuum long ago and far away , the Sox made their last trip to Toronto, short Duran and Houck, June 27-29 . The team dropped 2 of 3 , but finished the month 20-6 with high expectations to be competing for at least a WC slot. July, August and September proved to be the end of that dream as injuries to the starting pitching and a a weak approach to the trade deadline sealed the deal for 2022. A couple bright spots have emerged . A win tonight would result in a 13-13 September . Casas may be solving the 1B vacancy . Bello shows the talent and competitiveness to be a winner with more experience and decent hitting/fielding support. McGuire/Wong duo may be adequate at catcher for'23. Verdugo shows he can hit well enough to hold RF or LF. Whether he comes back or not, Xander showed grit , determination and ability in his contract option year, a true professional.
  12. Tough game tonight vs the Jays Alek Manoah (15-7; 2.31 ERA; !.00 Whip) , who tends to have a big mouth., matching his 285 pound ass. The Jays have locked up their wild card entry, so maybe will rest some usual starters . Nick Pivetta will need his best stuff to try and get his 10-11 record levelled . The Sox are still climbing the hill towards .500 but have no room for slippage here. Keep the Win streak going , Nicky.
  13. With Duran and Houck no longer immediate factors, is there anyone who misses the last trip to Canada for vax reasons?
  14. Who knew ?? A winning streak , fully appreciated because the pitching overall was good enough to win.
  15. Have to add to the highlight reel , you know, for negotiation of the new contract, which will resemble a Slim Jim, compared to the $20MM++ that JD is used to in Boston
  16. There was clearly some incident, injury or overall situation vis a vis Red Sox FO that turned Devers approach to '22 from highly productive to unhappy . The uncontrolled hard swings, poor pitch selection and lower OPS all contribute to wondering where his head and attitude are going. 2023 may be even more telling on him if his contract situation does not get addressed pre or during season. I think Raffy is an emotional , young guy who shows his feelings openly.
  17. I think I have seen enough of Strahm's auditions over this year to say that he is not exceptional but will always have a job because he is left-handed reliever. Once a Loogie, always a loogie, except now he has to pitch to at least 3 , unless ending an inning. Comes in and promptly gives up the tying HR.
  18. Seeing a number of "Shift" outs today that will be hits next year. Interesting changes
  19. AC pulls Nate with 2 out in the 5th , no one on ?? The Sox may score in the bottom of the 2-2 game gaining a potential win for Eovaldi. Instead some one from the pen can pick up a cheap win . Or not
  20. Kike sprays a grounder to the right side where no O's fielder resides and Casas scores to tie the game. Gotta love that Kike guy.
  21. Casas earns back the run from his first MLB error, scoring the speedy JDM on his wall ball double.
  22. Now Story is sick and will not be used in closing out the season ?? No big deal , just don't turn into another dead money anchor .
  23. One issue for the Sox with Bogey is how quickly they can either get a deal done or determine they won't go deep enough to sign him. If he is the money/budget key to 2023, then they need to act quickly so they aren't shopping the bargain bin late in January/February as in '22 ( for CBA delay ). Get on/off and then look for pitching.
  24. Arroyo back at second base , while Story continues to heal his heel. Arroyo looks like an ironman compared to Story's 2022. He's appeared in 94 games (60.6%) . He will need to carry a bigger load in '23 particularly if Bogaerts does move on. For the record, Arroyo has only appeared in 82 but he should be categorized as a utility player, not a significant FA addition.
  25. Thank you, sir. BTW, Nate just hit 100.0 innings with a leadoff hitter K
