  1. Can't get a generous call, do get a dribbler base hit. Ryan Brasier, you need to pull this DP out of your hat
  2. Cora needs to have Big Papi talk to Devers about how he is both hurting the team with his approach at bat, and probably be the next guy with back problems. Once Ortiz learned to let the high FB go, he became the big time hitter we knew.
  3. So it's fair to say that Pivetta is on the hook for the loss right now, but Darwinzon kept him there. Here's hoping one of our hitters bails both of them out and the bullpen remnants can save it
  4. Tommy Pham was not developed internally. Look what happens when you get RH power hitter in Fenway. That was nice
  5. Here's a follow up on developing hitters internally: Bogaerts (2013 era); Devers ..........................................................................................................................................................................................................etc.
  6. In a part of the schedule where the Sox needed to go 11-5 to be considered a WC contender, they are now 1-4 , on their way to 1-5, after 6 of those 16. So they can still hit the 11-5 mark, right ( mathematically) ?
  7. At one point Hernandez appeared to have some real potential. 2 more years of development and he totally regressed. Who is running the MiLB for the Sox?
  8. It seems visiting teams coming into Fenway have some interesting, capable young players. A novel concept
  9. For exactly which team are we nightly showcasing Darwinzon ? Probably for the 2023 Red Sox , hoping that he magically comes around when home this winter
  10. Wasted on one bad pitch and the inability of this lineup to respond. JDM and Devers both slumping simultaneously.
  11. Given that the Sox were going to have to pay JD in any event, Bloom , IMO, could have moved him for at least an AA prospect at the deadline, if he had agreed to pay out the contract beyond the minimum wage. JD isn't going to be looking at any $20 million deals this off season.
  12. Quick stat: Pivetta throws 108 pitches for 6 innings. Kyle Wright working with 69 in bottom 6th, awaiting JDM's DP . Notice the original post timestamp preceeded JDM's predictable outcome.
  13. Among the several shortfalls this season, a losing record at Fenway (26-28 , before tonight) should be hard to explain . But , like tonight, not so hard. This team does not hit early in games, falls behind and struggles to put together big innings. K's/DPs are way too common
  14. The 2 out bogeyman came through after Pivetta had 'struck out" the prior hitter. This is what happens, the umpire squeezes you and you lose focus.
  15. Nick P gets it done without surrendering to the 2 out bogeyman.
  16. And need to go 27-24 to finish .500
  17. Send NESN a demo tape of you doing Uecker bits and I bet you'll be on the broadcast by September 1. Tell Youk, Hi from Ueck
  18. I thought we had some full mustard hot dogs with the gold chain crew, but Acuna is the stylin' prize winner with his mustard protective gear and shoes
  19. Rename it the Bear Den because it hibernates all winter
  20. With Tanner Houck going on the IL with back trouble , joining Josh Taylor , it might be time for the Red Sox to look at the bullpen bench and see if a more ergonomically correct bench could help these guys backs. Maybe add a "back and bike" coach to the staff to work with these fellows . Or could it be their fairly violent throwing motions taking them down the same road to Cleveland Circle that rose up and bit Chris Sale ? Speaking of Sale , at least we know his non-vaxx status won't come into play in Toronto to end this season . In fact, coming into play is a foreign concept in Sale's world.
  21. K. Wright , 13-5; 3.22 ERA for the Braves vs Nick Pivetta , 8-8 sporting a 4.51 ERA. Splendid Splinter asked me to start this thread since he was no longer eligible , somehow knowing the Sox might drop his latest effort as a thread starter. He did ask me to be enthusiastic and positive, so here it is. Boston is up against a tough starter in Wright , not to be confused with Steven Wright . I think the Sox will break out and score 8-10 runs while Nicky fashions 8 innings of efficient baseball pitching. The Sox will win this one and send Atlanta home crying in their fried chicken and beer.
  22. At the risk of being thrown off the site, Devers is not quite the hitter people make him out to be. He has no sense of when a base hit is all that is need, not a 500' flyball.
  23. I'll have the pheasant, thanks . Wrapped in philo with some Philadelphia cream cheese
  24. LOL, we think alike too often. I do appreciate whoever pays the bills for this website so we can analyze the Sox performances, day after day
  25. My first act as PC would be to send Barnes to a cardiolgist to see if he did or did not have a heart. The second act would be to use audio-visuals to impress upon the Sox pitchers that 2 outs does not make a full inning.
