  1. Second time that Yoshida has been picked off. Get some rest Yoshi
  2. Tapia deserves a K just for chasing that pitch. I'm with Jad.
  3. Yoshi renews his now 16 game hit streak with a single. I imagine the day off worked, lol
  4. In another world, a quick scan of SoCal sports news reveals that JD Martinez of the LAD is increasing his physical movement after 2 weeks off due to back injury . It's hard not to say much. JD was once a force in Boston. Looking at the Angels vs the Rangers it was hard not to notice that Nate Eovaldi ( Rangers) followed up his complete game shutout of the Yankees last week with 8 innings of shutout work vs LAA. Nate's back is doing OK so far.
  5. Amazing and greatly enjoyed 8 game win streak courtesy of our own Splendid Splinter , and BTW Red Sox players, coaches, and AC
  6. You need to start scoring 8, this is still too tight.
  7. #3 hitter was Chase Turner, no worries
  8. Winning run is in the clubhouse after the 27th out
  9. Kike is just a natural "ass-thlete"
  10. Turner chases with 2 in scoring position. Must have been worried that Kike was coming later in the inning
  11. I see what you did with the Fox and Sox thing. Innovative. If you get the 8th out of Kluber , you should be HoF bound.
  12. Moon, not to bicker a fine distinction about my man, Barnes, but he was DFA'ed first, then a trade was worked out for Bleier , which has turned out ok. I don't curse and roll around on the floor when Bleier comes into the game, as I did with Matt Barnes.
  13. Regarding Casas's ongoing development, the current winning streak and overall good level of play should be taking a lot of pressure off Triston, and Cora/Bloom as to needing an immediate fix. Casas needs to show continuous, buy not spectacular , growth and this is a great time for him to breathe deep and find some success with the bat. He is not being relied upon to be a major contributor nightly.
  14. The Nation will probably have to suffer through some rough spots , as with Kluber, until Paxton gets his legs under him and shows if he can do anything with the baseball. For the first time in a while in Boston, there mound may get crowded with capable arms. Whitlock, Houck may need to be flexible and Bello may need a package of RT tickets to Worcester while Paxton gets plugged in. On the other hand, the inevitable sore arm, elbow, shoulder, hip or hamstring is bound to show up soon enough alleviating the crowd.
  15. Bloom does appear to have fixed the pen. The key was DFA'ing Barnes, lol. Duvall coming back in mid June and Story by July should be the equivalent of 2 trade deadline deals. Sale is showing good signs which was essential help. Yoshida now living up to the scouting reports, Duran becoming a player and Wong a presence is making this group suddenly look formidable even in the AL East.
  16. Well , if you have friends with teams that develop too much talent, it is nice to know they'll let you have a few spare parts . After all they did take Price ( @50%) offr your hands, also a young guy named Betts. It is odd that 7 of 26 players on active duty came out of the LA roster over the past few years.
  17. Matt Barnes . Just had to get him out of my system. Pitching for the Marlins, but not lighting up the NL. About what you would expect, 13 innings, 12 hits, 7 walks , 6 runs charged.
  18. I still think the roster construction by Bloom & Co. was not good enough to call it a WC caliber team. That initial roster was a .500 team on paper . The current group is playing very well and the bullpen has been a strength, especially with Woeful Barnes out of here. The comments by a few players indicate that last year's team did not have much cohesion , maybe watching Xander being dissed by FO/JH. This year's group sounds more solid in the clubhouse and is playing like it, never out of the game. Dodged a few injuries, got some plusses like Duran and still awaiting returns of some key pieces , but let's enjoy the success now and see how far it can go. Could be a surprising season, ....or not. Nothing like a 6 game W streak to smooth over a up/down start to 2023.
  19. You are only as good as your last win. Once your streak stops , there will be hell to pay .
  20. You keep it going Splendid Splinter , bend the Phillies to your will and extend the streak.
  21. Red Sox have played 20 of initial 33 at home , with a 13-7 record in sometimes typical crappy cold weather. 14 of next 22 are on the road, including the dreaded West Coast trip for the Angels and Padres, then D'backs. Check the record and various injury statuses at the end of May to see where this train is headed.
  22. The best part is now passing the BJs for 3rd in the ALEast . And staying well within 7.5 games back of the Rays
  23. See Jad, you can influence actual MLB players by coaching them from game threads. Works for me, glad you helped Raffy see the errors of his ways
