  1. Posting this immediately after the Red Sox exceptional win over the Blue Jays in a shutout. Game might be starting too early for us west coasters. Kutie Kutter Crawford going for Boston ; Yusei Kikuchi serving up sushi for Toronto. Yusei (LH'er)is pretty effective, ( 3.75/1.23 Whip) , as was Barrios before Yoshi and Duran dismantled him. Get the series win and turn this ship around NOW. But let's see if AC goes to his RH lineup or let's the LH hitters get some practice.
  2. Great shutout by Paxton, Martin and Ort, a rare combo. But we outscored Toronto which is all it takes to win in MLB
  3. If Ort had a changeup or low away slider, he could be a devastating 1 inning reliever
  4. Let me just point out that not all Sox fans just love the little fat boy at 3rd. He is not bright.
  5. Duran has had some difficulties at times , like a lot of consecutive K's, but he is hitting .796 OPS, with 15 SBs . He has over 225 Pa's so it is not a real small sample. If he could maintain that pace through September, he becomes a keeper
  6. And I am sure Paxton will miss games again, as will Sale, but you don't want to send Bloom shopping for 2 FA starters, do you ?
  7. Bello and Paxton should be 40% of next year's rotation. Sale will be back, lol. Houck may be finally feeling ok . Maybe we only need 1 more, plus the usual suspects in reserve in case something happens ( Whitlock, Pivetta, Crawford ,NOT Kluber)
  8. But Justin is no JDM . Why are we stuck with him ??
  9. Devers---2nd/3rd ,no outs, infield in and he bounces one direct to 2Bman, hold the runners. Like I said elsewhere he should be leading all MLB with 75-80 rbi's at this point.
  10. Stinking Yoshi ,making fools out of his naysayers
  11. Dugo hustles hard to earn a hit after his triple K
  12. Hamilton learning OJT. Paxton says don't mess with me
  13. Followed by that other dud, Yoshida . If Yoshida had gone elsewhere, would we even know who he was ? But since he came here he has hit better than most all other Sox, no matter what was paid for him.
  14. Great bomb by Duran with Wong on. really helps. I can smell a win that will help.
  15. Turner, the Not JDM in '23, gets a run on the board . Now Paxton just needs to shut out the Jays for a win
  16. Of course, Paxton is pitching a gem himself with 44 pitch count through 3 . Of course, the Sox cannot score to help the pitching
  17. Given Berrios's 43 pitches through 3, I think we can have him knocked out by end of 7
  18. Paxton kneeds this to be a great effort vs another tough Rh'er Jose Berrios (8-5; 3.60; 1.22 Whip) The Sox could sweep in Toronto and only be 5th by 2 games. There's that . The odds are not good for a sweep or even a win, but that's why they play the games , not just debate them on line.
  19. Bell 4, I agree. If one could not see by late March that this team was not going to do very well given the roster construction and reliance on many What Ifs . Hope is not a strategy . This group has not jelled into a sense of team, and over the next month to trade deadline many of the 26 will be looking over their shoulder to see if they are coming or going. Then after all the complaints about JH's, Bloom's and Cora's role in the sub-stellar performances, most of the players themselves have not exceeded many, if any expectations. Bello is on the verge of a breakout season, Duran has improved from a low bar, Dugo is useful, Yoshi is not the problem but beyond those guys who is making it happen here ? The reality is that Devers should have 75-80 rbi's . You can blame injuries and accidents but it is still the ultimate basics: score more than the opponent 60% of the time. The general run producing drought is now extending over a full month . That is the cumulation of almost a 1000 AB's. That is the players .
  20. I know you missed me cheering the Sox on but was down in Mexico for 3 days. Looks like I missed a train wreck of a series. No worries, a streak is just about to break out.
  21. I think the RS had little choice , given the fan base and loss of Bogaerts, except to extend Devers in a market rate contract. I only hope I live long enough to see the outcome of this one in 2033+-. RSR has a point about Devers overall effectiveness, forget the money. Raffy's longevity is ,at minimum, a concern , but on a team with no real other star players yet, it's ok to have one in the fold. Good luck to him and the team . Call me when he weighs 260 and can only DH. It should be about 2028. Meanwhile knock the cover off the ball, you full of joy kid ( O'Bs quote)
  22. Let's just sum up all these comments as follows: This team was ill composed, has suffered significant injuries where depth is still a question and cannot hit for a damn , while playing poor defense. It was , is and will be a .500 team with little to no distinction among the mediocrities in baseball. When your results have not improved over a 3+ year period , try something else. Tired of listening to cheerleaders rooting for a lost cause. If these guys cannot go 7-3 over the next 10 , then you have got problems. Let's hope they do.
  23. So you're saying it wasn't Ted Williams. That would have been a laugh to see. Ted and several others used those flimsy cap liners for protection
  24. It's got to be hard being BD because you know your days are numbered in Boston . He needed to HR rather than K.. The switch to Casas in that situation is understood. Tristan almost fooled Beni
