  1. Can anybody just hit the ball over the wall for Boston. Now we have to work Wong around. Tough job
  2. You could see Kutter slipping on thin ice all night. Luck ran out.
  3. Crawford has been pitching up in the zone and getting hit. Bello kept it notably lower. But Kutter has been dodging the harmful hit
  4. Devers and Duvall driving in the runs. Way to go tonight
  5. Once again 2 on, no outs, 3-4-5 coming up. Nate not sharp . Red Sox need to quit specializing in LOBsters
  6. No Sox player named Hamilton has an rbi in 2023 In fact 15 K's in 33 AB's combined
  7. Excited to see Casas vs. Eovaldi. Odd bouncer to short
  8. Crawford not real sharp, this one could get away if he delivers a HR Works his way out of the mess, a good sign for young pitchers, as with Bello
  9. Interesting story by Browne on the upcoming draft. Devin Pearson is now the amateur scouting and draft director, after working in pro scouting since 2017 and recently as ass't director. The item that got my attention was that Bloom and O'Halloran had their first formal draft review meeting last Wednesday. Bloom trusts this crew to identify and grade the high schoolers/college and int'l eligible players. So in reality, Bloom may set some priorities but does not spend a great deal of personal time on the kids who just graduated from school. Why should he ? But he does get the blame if they blow out the UCL in their first appearance on the mound or at SS. Better that Chaim know and understand the abilities of the MLB and high MiLB personnel.
  10. Showcasing Duvall for the trade deadline and hoping he hits something.
  11. So 28 year old Wyatt Mills has TJ surgery July 5, rendering him out for the rest of '23 and all of '24 most likely. Another potential pitcher on the forever IL list. Wyatt will not be the new sheriff in Beantown , and never even pitched in a single regular season game. Caleb Hamilton, also 28, who distinguished himself by K'ing every single AB for the MLB club in '23 finds himself DFA'ed. His pro career is in need of a another team, although he might accept the demotion back to WooSox if unclaimed. So who is the backup to Wong until McGuire gets healthy ? He is still exhibiting some soreness in his oblique and not yet bat swinging, which is how he self injured. The replacement is our old friend Jorge Alfaro who opted off the WooSox roster to go to Colorado Rockies for a quick trial confirming his limited abilities , so he comes back to the Red Sox organization to further show the same. Alfaro went 5 for 31 in Colorado, but the 5 hits consisted of 4 doubles and a HR, so there is some pop. Bloomie can sure pick'em. In unrelated news Alex Cora shows he can still pick at 2B by working the DP with Trevor Story as TS continues his comeback practice at SS
  12. SS, you did it with the game thread, keep it going
  13. Turner playing the field as well as DH and being a decent fielder brings good value to this cost efficient .500+1 team
  14. Unimpressive 7th/8th inning at bat by the home team. Kenley needs to save it
  15. Pedro is Brayan's baseball " Daddy", just like Ortiz should be for Devers
  16. Surely do not want Jansen to have to get 4 outs tonight. Martin needs to be great, 1-2-3
  17. In an almost must win game with Eovaldi going tomorrow, Bello delivers big time . This young guy could be the real deal for years of control to come.
  18. There are multiple times for Wong when almost any contact scores a run and he chases sweeping sliders away. Others have done the same but right now it's Wong's mess
  19. When Arroyo and Hamilton generate a run , even with Rangers bobbles, it must be a winning night
  20. Both could be true. I heard it from one of the NESN broadcasters ( Wake, O'B, Lou)
  21. Interesting to watch teams playing as close to a shift as they can taking away ground balls up the middle that the pitcher can't stop. The tendency/spray charts don't lie over good size samples.
  22. Max appreciate your thoughts and still trying to get my head right so I can accept the judgements of our fearless manager and FO to keep us at .500 . Somehow, I think a700 has gotten to the core of your message. But enjoy the game because Cora did run Bello out there as a starter and that is working well.
  23. Bello giving up hits to a good hitting team but working around it. Keep the ball on the ground, Brayan
  24. You keep seeing references to him coming back a bit sooner as a DH . So you would bench Turner or Casas , so Story could bat ? Bring him in when he is fully ready and can play SS . 2B is an option but not where the need is.
  25. When Yu Chang is your answer at SS, YU still have issues. Hamilton has 4th worst OPS in baseball among SS's? Who the heck could be worse ? I know i could look it up.
