  1. Shoop, Jones, and Trumbo are the only major league hitters, and their spirits I'm sure are drooping.
  2. Six more outs to get and they traded away Colome. Can Sergio Romo shut down that Yankee lineup??
  3. Just the reverse of the pinstripes crew. May that luck stay with us and translate into a division championship
  4. It's worse when it thunderstorms every hour on the hour.
  5. Looks like 7:30, 10, and 11 t-storms very possible
  6. No Machado certainly helps. I think this game will have more than one interruption. So, let's get out of the gate quickly and get 5 innings in. We can't afford to waste a start by one of our very few healthy starters.. get the damn game in.
  7. Rain out in NYC. Yankees really luck out.... they miss deGrom. But will have even one more game to make-up.
  8. True. But I think the starter may be more important for the very reasons you just gave... if E-Rod and Pom are headed for the bullpen, then we really need a 4th starter for the playoffs--that is barring a dead-end in the play-in game. So, methinks a starter would be a greater need than second base. I'll take both tho.
  9. If the Yanks get Bumgarner, deGrom, or Syndergaard, I think we'd best make a move for a starter, no matter our current plans. Or a shut down reliever to rescue our 4-5 starters.
  10. The hour to hour report has no clearing until 5:00, but it could taper down enough to play earlier I would guess.
  11. Sooo true. He rarely pinch hits... usually for this very reason. This is the case even in the 9th innings of one run games. Maybe he's a Union guy... a day off is a day off.
  12. Thornburg just sent DD a message as to whether to pick up a RP or not.
  13. Yeah. It's the kind of game in which a very good performance is wasted for lack of run support--and since this is a rare one for Price... got a feeling it's going to get either tied or lost.
  14. With Syndagaard on the mound, this lead may hold up. A good night to gain one in the standings.
  15. Guardians got two relief pictures and Andrew Miller may be back too... makes them much stronger. And worse, we have to play them about 6-7 more times, plus 10-11 with the Yanks, plus a bunch with Houston... Hold onto your hats... hard to see we run away with this.
  16. Nope, methinks the sentence is correct. Actually, I'm certain it is.
  17. All the comments to the no-coffee were funny, but this must be the winner. As Jackie Gleason used to say: "You're a Riot."
  18. It's very possible that a 104-win team will be facing an 88-win team this year in that Play-in game. This is one reason why neither the Sox nor Yanks are giving an inch during the regular season, and why both are having amazing seasons. This pressure will not lessen until one has more or less secured the top spot and then the loser will have the advantage of resting either Chris Sale or Luis Severino. If it goes down to the final weekend in Boston, then Sale or Severino would miss the Play-in game... which could easily mean disaster. But even a win in the Play-in game with Sale or Sev, means being at a distinct disadvantage in the semi-finals.
  19. One thing for sure.. if the Yanks trade for either Bumgarner or Fulmer, we will then have to make a move. No decision-making would be necessary. Damn that first-base collision.
  20. If we have to trade for a pitcher, our first concern is that he be Injury-Proof.
  21. "He'll have good days and then he takes a few steps back," Cora said (yesterday). Not too encouraging... even should he come back.
  22. That would be a boost... because it generally means 2 our of 3 good starts, and one bad. And if he gets back into old form, he could even see a start or two in the playoffs... depending on E-Rod, who will have to learn to walk again after a few weeks in the Boot.
  23. Yes, I agree, esp since it's only 3 in the loss column, and that now the Sox are down to 3 starting pitchers. At the moment and beyond, we go with Velasquez and Johnson. Unless they surprise, we's in trouble. And trouble for us as for the Yanks is that stupid Play-in game.
  24. But do the Twins see themselves as out of the race? They're only 7 out in the loss column behind the Guardians, a team with a kind of messed up pitching staff. (altho i guess they want to gain something for Dozier) Just read that their GM is still wavering as whether Twins are sellers or buyers.
  25. If Devers is a question mark... Cabrera can play third and second and switch hit. So he's ideal both in terms of power and versatility.
