  1. If Moreland's in the lineup, Holt would have been Bogaerts at bat in the 8th.
  2. Better be some convincing reason why Moreland's not playing.
  3. Are we saving Moreland for the 9th to hit against Clippard? If he doesn't hit a walk-off, I'm going to pissed but not at him.
  4. Yes, Blaine Boyer (tough name tor recall) good work? maybe he was 37-8
  5. Who was that 39 year old reliever we had last season... he did amazingly well and was so consistent, although was rarely used in real pressure situations, unless necessary, and it often was. It seems that he came out of nowhere and then vanished. What to hell was his name. I like to watch him pitch. He seemed so solid.. like a hitter with a powerful short stroke.
  6. Barnes instills even less confidence than Kelly... if only by a razor thin margin.
  7. Because Thornburg pitched an inning last night.
  8. What's the story with Moreland's absence?? I missed that.
  9. This could have been an 8 inning outing for E-Rod. The smooth outing suddenly hits a Bump.
  10. His salary is 8.2 million so we would pay him about 2.6 mill I would estimate. As to what kind to teammate, no problem there... a leader and hard-nosed player.. he also switched from third to second to accommodate Todd Frazier this season.
  11. His switch-hitting might help also, as it wd free up Holt to play another position against righties. Given he wd be a two-month plus rental, I guess the cost wd be pretty minimal (no top prospects--upside guys from the lower ranks)
  12. "Asdrubal Cabrera has a .280/.328/.485 slash line with 16 home runs. Although defensively Cabrera isn’t quite as good as Holt, he adds power to an already powerful lineup and gives the team more length." (Peter Devereux SB Nation) He's in the last year of his Mets contract and at 32, the price would probably be much less than for LeMahieu.
  13. "From 2011 to 2015, 1633 injuries occurred as a result of a slide. The total number of days missed per season was 4263. Surgical intervention was required for 134 (8.2%) injuries, and the mean days missed was 66.5 for players treated surgically and 12.3 days for players treated nonoperatively ( P Maybe Force-Outs at every base would solve the sliding problem. This would, of course, end all run-downs: once you leave one base, you can't return to the prior base.
  14. Machado will cost at least 35 million per year over 7-10 years... That may be the bigger question than the one year rental is... Even if you can sign him, this is what you're faced with if you wish to hold onto him. There will be no sentiment about his securing the best contract possible. I suspect the Yanks are in heavy for him now that they're a few games back... gotta to up the ante to catch and surpass the Sox. They have the prospects that can get it done and can outbid any team outside the division. And now they have the money to spend on a huge contract next summer.
  15. Cora must love Beni in left--with a lefty pitcher going too. Cannot come up with any other reason.
  16. Sox have played 6 fewer home games than Yanks despite having played several more games. Let's leave them in the dust. Now's the time.
  17. Isn't Realmutto available right now. Trade Swihart and prospects... Well, maybe. But personally I think we're fine right now, even without V for 3-4 weeks.
  18. Not only is the game Long, but this thread which started off very short is now longer than any of the Yankee games. methinks
  19. They can have Moose, but not deGrom.
  20. It does seem, however, that most MLB players with opt-out clauses do opt out. And add in that he's to say the least uncomfortable here... well, you get the picture. No conspiracy needed.
  21. What are the Vegas Odds on David Price opting out of his contract??
  22. What you mean, they've got 25 wins at the all-star break. A game better than the Orioles.
  23. Keller has given up one homer this season, and Price 17.
  24. And Pearce plays multiple positions. Great pickup.
  25. Well, when you consider the way we hit last year, I think confidence would have to put on hold.
