  1. Our two catchers are solid; and they have been so for some time. Even if they each end up hitting around .200, that's fine.
  2. Since he certainly seems about worth his contract now, why isn't he traded?? If we can't afford to bring back another contract in exchange, why not get a couple of prospects for him?
  3. Todd Frazier is making about 7 mill and at half that he might fit. Should be easy to get from the Mets. He's hitting about 225 and 7 homers. We almost picked him up last year.
  4. I'm not Shoulding him, I'm describing him.
  5. A lof of our hitters are pressing--esp in a tight game like this, because they're not doing too well at the plate in general.
  6. It's funny how Cora's whole manner and attitude looks more like a player's than a manager's.
  7. Yanks have won 47% of their winning games by 1 run this season. Is that Fate or what. No wonder they survive so many guys with low averages.
  8. I am absolutely no Hanley fan. I hated the signing before it happened. But I must say that from what I understand, I don't blame him for not playing right now if he can only receive the pro-rated league minimum. That's like 275k so maybe the sunshine and beaches are preferable to a millionaire. But he'll sign on fairly soon just to set himself for next year's new contract... unless of course he's mulling over retirement.
  9. Old style wd have him hitting 3 or 4 as in, you know, Ted Williams.
  10. It's obviously not working for the Yanks. But I don't think it can be said with any certainty at all that it works for any team. Teams win and lose for a hundred different reasons, both because of and despite their batting order. I prefer the old eye style to the new if only because I want to see Betts have a shot at the triple crown, and his best chance is hitting 3rd, as he would be doing under the so-called traditional style. I also think hitting first puts more pressure on him to run--which means more of a chance for another damn injury.
  11. How does the new team pay Hanley. If there's competition for him and say he gets 4 million, is that deducted from what we owe him this season? Or does he get both salaries? If the former, I can see why he would have little interest in signing with a new team.
  12. I'm fine with the new style as long as the Yankees follow it too. Right now Stanton is mainly hitting 3rd. He's hitting 248 with 15 homers and 35 RBIs while Gary Sanchez hits 4th or 5th with a batting ave of .190, 12 homers and 35 RBIs. We seem to be a better hitting team right now and yet we only have 4 really dependable hitters who bat somewhere between 1-5. But on paper, the Yanks would seem superior... at least potentially with guys like Bird, Hicks, Judge, Torres, Andujar, Gregorius to support Stanton. In fact pre-season I thought they had a very long Murderers' Row.
  13. Justin Haley in 2016, posted a 2.64 ERA in 130.1 innings split between Portland and Pawtucket before becoming Rule 5-eligible after the season. Now, he's back with us.
  14. What we SEEM to be witnessing right now is a failure of position players to step up in the absence of big bats. If we do indeed have depth, it's up to them to prove it.
  15. Moreland's always been a 6-7 hitter and also more than sometimes platooned on top of that.
  16. Well, I hope we're all rested. Now, can we have a win or two at home against the weakest team in the East. Imagine, having spent your money for tickets on these past two games.
  17. If the injuries continue, the best we can hope for is a Play-in game... hopefully at home. These are two games the Yanks would not cave to.
  18. Two distressful games. Replace Sale for a minor leaguer so the next night he can get beat 1-0 by a minor league team. Two losses with one move.
  19. I get your drift.
  20. What I disagree with is his stepping away from the rotation.. unless he made it plain why the next man up has a tired arm. If he did then I do understand. I've never once put down Cora.
  21. Why pitch him on the day BEFORE Betts comes back... tomorrow we'd have a shot at a comeback.
  22. Precisely. It's as if the Yanks don't exist... and as to the fans, they should just relax and give the kid a chance.
  23. I was under the impression that starters got 4 days off between starts.
  24. So, who to hell is he replacing? We have 5 starters with Wright.
