  1. Let's hear it for Eovaldi. Let's win this game for him. Wow, he's been something.
  2. It's perhaps the earlier Kinsler who often came up clutch.
  3. I believe Kinsler has been playing with an injured hamstring. In the past, this guy has done lots to damage to us---yes, with his bat.
  4. Yup, Devers is a real weapon, and probably will be throughout the playoffs, but NOT against lefties.
  5. The 5 start is a little awkward, but it sure offers a lot of time to calm down before sleep--unless god forbid, it go 15 innings.
  6. Price will give us 6 innings tonight. He looks himself out there, at least.
  7. I agree. Given the error, two runs is satisfactory.
  8. Quite a sports tab for Boston fans tonight... this huge Patriots game, and Redsox in ALDS game two. And in both in Boston!!
  9. Why is Vaz catching Price??? I don't get it. Is Leon injured?
  10. We should have a "Playoffs post-game forum" for these comments, because there's this and much more to discuss. Kimbrel was the logical choice... you figure 2 walks, 2 strikeouts, 0 runs. And a score of 3-2 in the bottom of 9th or a fighter's chance. Also Kimbrel needs work. If he's used tonight, he might be off from too much rest.
  11. In the modern era of baseball, tossed managers manage by text messages, so Workman was Cora's "malpractice." I think last night would have been a great win chance for us because Houston didn't seem to be playing their best ball at all. Or, maybe it's more honest to say neither team seemed all that set on winning this game. It's one of those ugly games which we were unable to capitalize on. Yeah, the Betts and JDM power outage is unfortunate. But maybe they will end up being our aces.
  12. I've never started a thread here because I don't have a real grasp on how this forum works--not yet. But I assume such a thread will begin post season. It might be one which would discuss both Sale's health and Sale's contract. I had no idea this was a "general thread." So, I've learned something. As to Sale last night, it wasn't pretty. He threw 86 pitches and only 5 were swinging strikes. That ain't Chris Sale. That ain't Chris Sale's game. Plus the low speeds--way lower than Verlander. He's apparently gutting it out, playing with some kind of arm or shoulder injury.
  13. Last night's game was very strange. Here you have perhaps the the biggest offensives in baseball producing only 4 hits (all singles) between them going into the 9th inning against ostensibly weak pitching (esp on the Boston side).. the Sox through walks, hit by pitches, and errors gave free passes to 14 players. And yet a 3-2 game entering the 9th. To me the only Cora error was to put Workman in in the 9th. This had to be shut down inning for us to have a chance--it was a playing the infield in type situation. You gotta go, yes at the risk of more walks, with your closer Craig Kimbrel. And if you don't do it immediately, you do it down 4-2. Most likely Kimbrel would have walked two, struck out two, and on average no runs allowed. We go to the bottom of the 9th trailing 3-2 with a decent chance against Osuma. And on the plus side at least Kimbrel would have gotten work... now, we don't know what he'll be like tonight given too much rest for him. (maybe he did get work--I turned the game off at 7-2)
  14. Moreland... great to see an actual ph and the right one too.
  15. I'm glad someone remembers this besides me. He carried the team for about 6 weeks.
  16. Sale 86 pitches and only 5 were swings-and-misses. What Sale is that??
  17. Cora goes with defense and experience at Third. A close call, tho. It would be fun to see Devers' bat in this one.
  18. Is anyone on this whole Forum as pissed as me that this huge series is ONLY ON CABLE. Someone tell me I'm not alone in listening to Joe Castiglione's coverage on the AM radio dial. (there's probably a couple but none will see this post)
  19. Except I never said "feeling a failure." I said that specific win "felt a lot like a loss." That doesn't make me feel like a failure.
  20. I'll get over it... maybe tonight with K aboard in the 9th with a 4-3 lead. He comes through. He's redeemed and hey we not only just beat the Astros but, in my mind, the Yankees too (now I enjoy it). You have to admit, it's hard to hug a scoreboard.
  21. The only thing I know about Kimbrel's inning is that it was a failure. And, given the context of this specific game, plus that from the 5th inning on we were supposed to hold our breath till the Savior arrived in the 9th, this was not only an absolutely nerve-racking failure, but a very major disappointment. To me this huge win felt a hell of a lot like a loss. I'm sorry, throwing wild balls when you have a 3 run (max for a save) lead in your biggest save opportunity of this season, is downright infuriating.
  22. Of course, Verlander is a Detroit pitcher. Interesting... Sale out there with those bare thin arms on a cold night and most others with long dark sleeves. Why is the fall weather favorable to Price? Does he do better in the colder months?? (playoff record doesn't show it, for sure) Has anyone ever tracked his games according to weather conditions? Oh no I just recalled his numb fingers... better start him in Houston
  23. We know who got the Save, but what three pitchers deserved the Save?? None called Kimbrel.
  24. Every fan watching or listening to game 4 knew that Cora's absolute goal was "to bridge the way to his Stopper." This was repeated ad nauseam throughout the night to the point of my thinking: "Screw that, just go with the hot, competent hand, because K is not the shutdown stopper the media believes he is." I truly believe that Brasier could have thrown two shut down innings easily last night. He seemed in full control, and he knows he doesn't have that wild wild option that the closer has. I didn't think Sale should have been an option, given Thurs nite. There were too many "brilliant" moves... why not go low key, the way you did with last night's lineup. At least I might have slept after.
