  1. Conversely, if people gave up on their investments too early, they'd constantly be buying high and selling low.
  2. Especially a players 1st year in pro ball. If the swing and miss is there, that gets me pretty excited no matter what the stat line looks like.
  3. I mean in a perfect world anyone would want that. If you owned a stock of company xyz, and its value cratered, you'd want it to perform and regain it's value whether you keep it OR you decide to sell it. But this is baseball, and just like in finance at a certain point you have to learn to cut your losses. We may very well be there with Story and I CERTAINLY wouldn't argue against anyone saying we are there now.
  4. I mean, we got a stiff playing SS right now. I'd rather have a stiff at 3B than a stiff at SS.
  5. Mayer
  6. LOL, that's a very weird way of looking at it. Do guys just stand still and only make the same amount of plays that come right at them? and are you seriously comparing Raffy to Bregman. Come on man Bregman very clearly is a better defender with more range who gets to and makes more plays.
  7. Bregman has certainly made a few more errors this year in an uncharacteristic fashion, but those aside he's been really really good at third base.
  8. Even more of a reason to do it right now. Unless they plan on trading Duran, or sitting someone for Anthony.
  9. They could load up on prospects and make moves at the deadline. Looking ahead, I'd want target pitchers with more than .5 years of control. Get a guy to help you down the stretch this year and next.
  10. They also started working KC out at 1B before Bregman went down. Between that and Story laying an egg I don't think any can definitively say the plan hasn't either changed or other options are being explored.
  11. So what. You going to roll with Mayer/Story/Hamilton up the middle all year? I'd rather let Campbell work thru it at 2nd and get Anthony into the lineup somehow. The youth can either get the team going, or get experience to be better suited to get going next year. But at this point you're wasting free time from Anthony in AAA.
  12. Rafaela's value is mostly tied into his defense. I think you have to keep him in CF. There's only a few ways the Sox could really fit Anthony in. If Devers would move to 1B it would open up the lineup to bring up Anthony and rotate him with Abreu/Duran in the outfield and at DH. A trade. They would have to trade Duran, Abreu, or Rafaela. It's not trading seasons right now, so it might be hard to move a player at this moment. Lastly, the Sox could just move Anthony to 1B. Which is overall a horrible ideal, but it might be their best option for 2025. They might have to sit him down and tell him he is in their long term plans for the OF but for 2025 or at least the next few months they want him to learn some 1B to break him into the majors quicker. I wonder how well Mayer/Campbell/Anthony play off of each other once they're all in the majors at the same time.
  13. Eventually he will be CF/RF. Sometime between now and the start of 2026. rafaela or Abreu will be out. Either by trade or reduced role
  14. Of course it has range, that’s why it’s called the “range rover”
  15. Mayer has a 1.000% fielding percentage in the majors. He’s obviously the greatest 3B of all time. Maybe we should move him to SS can’t argue against that
  16. Unfortunately there’s no much to be done this time of year. It’s like being mad you can’t go to the store to pick up milk. They open at 6 and it’s 4 am. teams that will stop at the deadline aren’t selling yet. This is why teams typically go with in house solutions. Like Toro or Devers….or you know Toro.
  17. Hopefully the kid goes 5/5 and plays stellar defense. he doesn’t hit as well against lefties, it’s one of his few knocks. Not a finished product but he’s ready. Obviously I want to see him play well, but I’ll get a chuckle if he makes an error and people lose their minds. Let’s remember it’s his first big league start. i never would have guessed Anthony would have been the last one up of the big three but here we are.
  18. I don’t think all your posts are lame. I just disagree with that one you made
  19. If it was a fake injury the players association would be up in arms over the Sox FO. at this point.
  20. You take the best player available. Everytime all the time. you can always trade for pitching e.g. Crochet/Sale
  21. Come on man. 1. it’s a mock draft, not the Sox board. 2. By the time this guy reaches the majors the team needs could be completely different. You have no idea what the roster could look like in 4 years. 3. Said player could be traded. Just like Montgomery was traded for Crochet. It’s why you go BPA.
  22. On People stating that others don’t know the nature of things. I learned a long time ago that no one goes online and argues with the “I used to do this I know what I’m doing you’ve obviously not” it makes someone, anyone who would hypothetically do this sound arrogant, and it comes off as being very condescending. And to say such things that go against the fabric of what we hear from everyone else on planet earth who has played at the top level is just hysterically ironic. I think anyone who makes a habit of insulting everyone who disagrees with their minority opinion as never achieving anything in a condescending way is teetering on the edge of being a troll. those are the facts….and the facts are indisputable
  23. No team on earth has great back ups. Back ups are back ups for a reason. Every team in the universe has an AAA roster that either has a top prospect OR a guy who isn’t good enough to be an MLB starter. Toro/Sogard isn’t bad roster construction. And nobody would be talking about that if Story, Cambell, or Rafaela were hitting.
  24. lol, not really. Bregman WAS looking like an MVP candidate and Mayer/Campbell were waiting in the waiting in the wings. i would challenge people to say how they’d have better constructed the roster. now if you’d be willing to critique your stance to “bad roster management” I’d be inclined to agree.
