  1. Again, they're looking at the underlying data, which is not good. We've seen them promote guys without good stats if the underlying data is good. Today, that's what matters to them. I think they plan on working with him in the offseason. We can kiss any Campbell 2025 rebirth goodbye.
  2. Didn't he have an injury earlier this season too? I wonder if there are some lingering side effects that have been hampering his swing. I would be more optimistic if it was something mechanical, which makes sense. I don't think a 23 year old just gets weaker and loses bat speed. It's either mechinical or injury related. You hope a full offseason gets him right. It really stinks, because they could certainly use a spark plug right now
  3. There's something going on with him. The underlying data is not good, for example his exit velocity is down. My guess is, at this point they view him as someone who needs time off, and a full offseason to get right and work on things.
  4. I can live with that too, I almost wouldn't mind if he just F**** with the press a little bit. A la Bill B.
  5. I was on the Breslow bandwagon day 1. Sure, some of that might of been the internal optimist that lives within mixed in with some homerism, but I always loved the blend of brains and experience actually playing the game that Breslow brings. It's like having the best of both worlds, the jock and the nerd all mixed into one. There's certainly a few moves I'm sure he would have taken back, but that's what happens when you make a lot of moves. Many of them have been great. I'm not sure this team has what it takes to go all the way this year, the Anthony injury concerns me, and I wonder how much gas Crochet has left in the tank, but I think they should be even better next year.
  6. He just seems to have that it factor. He gets on the mound and it’s like he owns it
  7. Looks like your hopes were fulfilled last night
  8. Hence why I said I think they may see him as an offseason project too. Or not. good teams are often able to take guys with some elite stuff and tinker, doesn’t always work, but the better teams figure it out with guys. is Hicks that guy? Idk, but I’m hoping the Red Sox are that team.
  9. I'm sorry If I left the impression that they were going to turn him into a closer. I just meant they have a pitcher who has really really good stuff but horrible control. That was the parralel I was trying to draw.
  10. I think they are worried about losing Hicks, they think they can get him right. They will keep him over the offseason, and if they can get his control under control....WATCH OUT. Maybe he can be Chapman 2.0 for them. Buehler is starting to look really bad, I mean he already looks bad on the mound but it's looking worse that hes still on the roster. I'd expec thim to not be here much longer, but with those two extra roster spots coming in a few days who knows. Maybe they are still holding out for the 2024 playoff magic.
  11. An absolute no brainer if you ask me. kid dominated the minors. They aren’t losing a year of control. You have a month left in the season and you’re 3.5 games out of first place. you gotta roll with your best 13 pitchers. Tolle is where he belongs
  12. How many rookies have played their first mlb game this year? 7?
  13. Ken Rosenthal reporting Tolle is being promoted and starting tomorrow vs. Skenes
  14. also cake is good.....I want cake.
  15. Well I'd say it's quite the opposite of cake, because you're going to have your Klubers and your Buehlers, but whatever it's one year. A market like Boston SHOULD be able to stomach those bad one year deals to get the good ones. My problem with the Kluber signing wasn't the move itself, it was the fact that was ALL THEY DID. This year, CB2 didn't just go out and sign Buehler, he also traded for Crochett, AND extended him. To me that makes all the difference in the world.
  16. I mean to me this is just a semantics battle. Corey Kluber is a fine example, because yeah......it could have been much worse. I'm all for the low low risk one year deal. Even if 50% of them are Corey Klubers you get the upside on the other guys, offer the QO, and get the draft pick and keep the pipeline pumping.
  17. That's essentially my take. If I end up overpaying for one year.....whatever. At Chapmans age, if he signs a 3 year deal he could be an all star closer again next year and completely fall off a cliff. I think theres more risk with a multi year deal than a 1 year. A lot of it depends on what the Sox want to do. If they don't have any plans to reset the LT, then it's a no brainer to me. The other day people were making a strong argument against giving Giolito the Q.O. but even I found any validity in their arguments I still offer it for the same reason "no such thing as a bad 1 year deal" We've seen time and time again how the pitching market surprises. Almost no one would have guessed Pivetta would get and reject a Q.O. last year and yet here we are.
  18. considering his age and the fact that he could return negative to little return in a multi year deal if he falls off a cliff, I would have zero problem paying more for a 1 year deal. I would offer a multi year contract, but I would have no problem with the QO.
  19. After tonight, Giolito should get 5 more starts and if he averages 4 1/3 an inning per start he will trigger the mutual option. its highly, highly likely he opts out. I think the question we should be asking now is if we should QO him. If so we have two QOs this offseason, Giolito and Chapman
  20. Well, let me rephrase. I'm sure the Red Sox fans in here all feel very good about beating the Yankees.
  21. One thing everyone can agree on, is it feels really really really good to beat the Stankees
  22. Another thing I've tried to start doing this year is agree with people I have often disagreed with. And what I have found is that.....sometimes I actually agree with them alot. Try it sometime, try to agree with someone you've argued with a lot here. Find something you agree with them on and talk about it. It will make you feel better I promise.
