  1. Excatly, we plug these names in but we have no ideal what other team needs are or how they evaluate certain players. BTV might assign a value of 20 to someone where is teams could have them between 0-50 for all we know.
  2. Well, he's also a 1B which isn't exactly a hot commodity, and he has not lived up to expectations so far. That's mostly due to him not staying on the field but it is what it is. Still, Casas is different because he has a much higher ceiling. If he gets going, he's going to hit for a lot of power. If he had just one good healthy season and he hit his value would definitely go up.
  3. Like me hammering NOTIN for using BTV........when I myself have used BTV.
  4. I get that, but I try to put myself into the shoes of another G.M. And it just always gets me how we can take a player, lets say player xyz who is unwanted here and think we can get something better for them, as if that other team wouldn't have the same issue as we do. I mean, today we are talking about Hamilton but I think a better example of this is Masataka Yoshida.
  5. JFC the line these things go down. Look Witherspoon was probably too much and a bonehead pick on my part. See...it's not too hard to admit when someone makes a mistake......like thinking Hamilton has much trade value and gets you Yandy Diaz.
  6. Rentals have netted 2 top 100 prospects before, I remember a relief pitcher at the deadline once brought in such.
  7. That's probably closer to being realistic, but even then that was my point....because guys like Clarke and Valera offer the upside a team would want. Hamilton is just a throw in. He's not moving the needle.
  8. Hamilton for Yandy is equally unrealstic.
  9. I agree, but you're not getting Yandy for Hamilton, not even close to it.
  10. Even if it's one year, you're going to want elite potential. It's going to take a top 100 prospect Maybe they'd take Witherspoon/Hamilton + another guy. I'm not saying they won't take Hamilton, I'm just saying he's the throw in.
  11. We literally just posted the same thing at the same time HAHAHA
  12. He's fine at 2nd. He's not very good elsewhere so he's not your ideal utility guy, and I'm not sure he can be an everyday 2nd baseman. I know he has control, but quantity does not make up for quality. Hamilton will not move the needle for a guy like Diaz, he's a throw in.
  13. No way I trade away Tolle/Duran for Marte. I’m holding onto Tolle
  14. BTV is flawed, there are some teams out there who wouldn’t even put Hamilton on their 40 man. His value is pretty much as a pinch runner.
  15. Tucker has equal splits vs LHP and RHP
  16. Pitching is also funny too, because one of those guys at the bottom could take a big jump forward if their K/BB ratio is low because they walk a lot of guys driving that number down. Guys like.....Clarke
  17. Casas is someone I really really want to come back and mash, but at some point you just have to wonder if it's ever going to happen. You never know how a guy can turn things around when he can stay on the field. Look what Story has done this year. I think if the Sox were even able to sign a guy like Alonso you're selling low on Casas, which is fine if the team is a lot better now. I suppose you could DH Casas, but then you really have to make moves to get Yoshida off the roster.
  18. I don't think Schwarber would hit 50 home runs here. I think he'd hit around 38 with 50+ doubles. I'm also very weary about a guy who is entering his age 33 season and only contribution comes one side of the ball. I'm not against it, I'd just rather add someone like Alonso, or resign Bregman.
  19. That is certainly the best case scenario, me thinks. Casas is a weird case, because you want him to be healthy and be the guy he looked like he was turning into in 2023, he never really got a chance to get going and then got hurt last year....which is turning into a concern with him. But I'd be more willing to bank on him making a comeback and having a good season if the team has less question marks over the rest of the roster.
  20. Well maybe not, maybe Bregman opts in and is resigned and you slide Story over the 2nd. Then your outfield is Duran/Rafaela/Anthony. you still could trade Abreu, but the case to keep him Is much stronger here.
  21. No but I think LA is at the top and the next tier is 3 NL teams and maybe Seattle. BtW I’m not going by just record. Two teams can have 92 wins with one definitely being better. Both NYY and TOR won more games than the Dodgers, but I think the dodgers are definitively better in a 7 games serious and beat both those teams.
  22. Easily? Sure, but most pundits seem to think the NL has better teams at the top. I agree
  23. Riiiight, but Duran legit made an all star team. but for the sake of argument Abreu, if played full time would probably be a 4.0- 4.5 WAR player the last few seasons. If he even gets marginally better against LHP he is an all star caliber player. do other teams think that? Idk, but certainly guys putting up 3-4 WAR are not typical bench players. Also, again, Abreu isn’t the guy I’m saying is or isn’t a starter. He’s part of a list of guys you could trade if you signed Kyle Tucker
  24. I suppose there’s a difference between saying the NL is better vs. the NL has better top teams capable of winning post season series.
  25. I suppose you can throw Alonso to the big bat list too but I’m pretty convinced he stays with Steve Cohens Mets
