  1. It literally makes zero sense. Lets say I trade a $100 baseball card for a $1 dollar baseball card. That was a dumb trade, I made a dumb trade. Lets say I take that baseball card that is only worth $1 dollar and I find a guy who gives me a $10 card for it. I made a good trade, comparing that $10 to the $100 card is stupid, very stupid. You can say that initial trade was a bad trade all on it's own but it's just absurdly stupid. I shouldn't say stupid, a lot of people do it and the ones saying it aren't stupid, I'm not saying you're stupid just the comparison is. But I suppose us human beings have an evolutionary instinct for pattern recognition and a tendency to connect things that aren't or shouldn't always be connected. It's kept us alive for hundreds of thousands of years. But it's also why people see Jesus in the clouds, Elvis in a sweat stain, or think Durbin should be compared to Devers.
  2. They would be projected to be 1st or 2nd in every division in baseball other than the A.L. East where they are 3rd. To hell with the projections, this team is going to win 95 games.
  3. Comparing Devers to Durbin is literally the worst take ever....these types of takes really really really need to die.
  4. This is what I want to know. Was the price really unreasonable? like were they asking for Roman Anthony? because then I don't blame them for hanging up the phone. But if the cost was reasonable but Breslow is just holding on then my opinion could change.
  5. Neto Fwar the last 3 years: 3.1 3.5 1.1 (1/2 year) THat's really good......that's not great
  6. Between IKF, Rodgers, Monasterio, and Seigler it's like the Sox were trying to corner the utility/back up infielder market. Obviously not the sexy move we've all been waiting for but not something to discount as well. Most teams are going to see other guys get playing time throughout the year due to injuries. To some extent all teams are going to have SOME injuries. I do think there is value in getting some guys that can put up .5-1.5 WAR from that group. Other teams, and this team in the past have seen bad negative war players take up those roles.
  7. I think there starting asking price would be Mayer, but BTV accepts Abreu/Tolle/Valera
  8. Durbins swing was made for Fenway, I expect Fenway to help his numbers out a lot. A sophmore slump is always possible with young guys but we could also see his numbers take a big step forward too.
  9. Allegedly the asking price was too high......I'd be interested in knowing what "too high" was.
  10. My only concern with Durbin is his arm isn't very strong and he's coming off of right elbow surgery, for such a small guy you wonder if 2B is a better fit long term. Then again, the surgery was very minor and his arm speed isn't slower than Mayers or Storys. So Maybe 3B is where he belongs. I hate to say it, I really do, I'm sure this will rub some people the wrong way and will say I'm saying it just because he's short, but in many ways he does resemble a young Jose Altuve. Altuve was a little guy, with very little bat speed and lower average exit velocities. But it just didn't seem to matter because he had good plate discipline, does not strike out, and squares up the baseball. Durbin could afford to walk a little bit more, but that's pretty much his exact profile.
  11. I still think that's a weird way of looking at things. What if the "Con man" doesn't outperform Alonso but it's close, he plays above average defense, hits for average with 20 bombs. Meanwhile Alonso hits 40 HR's and that's it, but the Red Sox spent half the AAV on Contreras and also went out and got a #2 and improved their bench? I'm not trying to say that the Alonso is better than Contreras, but if the team is better as a whole and they win 95 games are we really going to sit here and criticize the team because Pete Alonso hit 40 HR's in Baltimore?
  12. Probably Mayer, I think he plays third, or at least a lot of third. Durbin to 2B
  13. And I love how we also are getting the 67th pick in the MLB draft this year as well, on top of Durbin. It's not just the pick, but it's the $1.3 million that comes with it. They can go with another pick there, or spread that money in another round.
  14. That's just the thing, you can have beef with the Devers trade, you can hate that trade and recall it for as the long as ones little heart desires. But Durbin for Harrison should be evaluated based on the performances of Durbin for Harrison. And them too alone.
  15. So, if Kyle Harrison gets 0 WAR and Durbin gets 12 WAR it's a bad trade if they never replace Devers? So they trade Harrison for Durbin, and it can't be a good trade even if Durbin drastically outperforms Harrison? Make it make sense.
  16. Yeah, I was very surprised to get that draft pick back on top of everything else. The Brewers are very good at taking guys like Harrison and getting them right E.G. Quinn Priester. So we will see, it might not look as good later this year but at the end of the day I'm glad they made this trade. No regrets, it really sets the team for 2026. I obviously would have preferred someone with a little bit more upside than Durbin, but given the other moves they've made on top of this one it sets my mind at ease and has me excited for the season.
  17. What if Devers performs 3X better than Durbin for the next several years but Durbin averages 2 WAR and Harrison never makes another MLB start/appearance. Is that a good trade?
  18. Thats actually a cheap contract for the value he produces. How much is a good utility player worth? $6 million isn’t even 1 war
  19. The other candidate would be top prospect Bryce Eldridge, who is expected to be a monster with the bat......but plays 1B for a reason. One will play 1B, one will DH. It's kind of ironic.......Raffy is going into SF spring training and it's unclear whether he will play 1B or DH.
  20. Who is going to play 1B for the Giants this year then?
  21. Wouldn't it also be fair to point out that Raffy is doing it all while playing 1b too???
  22. I think he might platoon and get a lot of at bats when Mayer sits vs. LHP. BTW....Where is Moon. I owe him an apology on this one.
  23. Can we please stop with the Devers talk, it's essentially rehashing the Devers trade when this is something entirely different. That trade is over, it's been over, whatever we did or did not get is a sunk cost. This trade should be evaluated on the players involved and them alone. That is a honest accounting.
  24. Lets see all the people complaining about giving up Kyle Harrison now. If you're not complaining about giving him up now, I don't want to see you bitching if Milwaukee turns him into a stud.
