  1. If we don't sign a starting pitcher I don't think it would be because Bloom lied about wanting to get a starting pitcher. What I will believe is he was unable to attain any pitcher because he sets a value on what someone is worth and they're uncomfortable going above that threshold. If that strategy is the reason they keep on missing out on guys they wanted (and not because their interest was hyped by agents and media) then they need to seriously re-evaluate their evaluation process. You can look at the sum of every addition in a vacuum and be happy with the value you are getting but if the sum of all the parts is a team that can not compete then they have failed.
  2. Yeah, I don't know. The thing is who do they at 3B coming down the pipe? At least at SS they have Mayer who should be ready in a few years. But there's no real 3B prospect that is either very good and inspiring OR close to the bigs. If they had a guy like that maybe Turn makes sense as a stopgap there. But if they trade Devers this offseason and place Turner at third then.....that will be very interesting. Does this mean Dalbec or Arroyo is going to DH? or hey, maybe Dalbec is their 3B? As lackluster as this team has been this offseason, I still can't believe they'd trade Devers and plan on plugging Turner at 3B for 2 years. If they do, I'll drive the extra 1:45 and go to a SeaDogs game.
  3. So they’re definitely comfort with Yoshida in left and Verdugo in right then.
  4. If this is a precursor to trading Devers I’m out. If it’s a RH replacement for Hosmer then I’m in.
  5. Or you know, we could just sign Andrus instead
  6. I can see the case for Story at SS, but with the new shift rules in effect next year 2nD will be practically just as important as SS, I’d rather keep the weaker arm at 2nd in that scenario.
  7. Actually who has the weaker arm between Segura/Story. Have to think Andrus is in play too. But I’d prefer Segura.
  8. And who plays SS Will Story blows his shoulder out making throws? I like it, but Segura is a plus defender at SS…we should keep him there. Like Conforto/Kluber. Or at the very least I like them from what is left. I think those names youve mentioned are very plausible for the Sox. We haven’t heard the aspx attached to them, which is probably good news this year. Every time we hear about the Sox being attached to someone they sign elsewhere.
  9. I think the off-season is capped off by signing one of Eovaldi/Wacha/Kluber And then one of - Andrus/Segura. With an outside chance for a trade for an outfielder. Maybe someone who can play RF and other positions and be a 4th OF bench bat, or Verdugo is packaged up and they go for more of a starter type. Not to inspired to believe in anything big, but Bloom is full of surprises when it comes to trades and moves in general. They never do what you think they will.
  10. Everyone we’ve been linked to we don’t sign. Everyone we’ve signed we weee never linked too. Which is why I think Andrus/Segura are still in play for SS
  11. This. If you could invent a GM who made 1-2 big moves an off-season in the mold of DD and then passed the keys over to Bloom to fill out the roster you’d have my ideal GM. Bloom seems to be more allergic to big moves than Charrington was
  12. Bloom is either a victim, highly traumatized doing Henry’s bidding. Or. He still works for the Rays, but he has pictures of Henry in Drag. Call it 50/50
  13. Groome is not the same guy they drafted, health issues, diminished stuff, lost velocity. He probably sniffs the majors one day but in 6 minor league seasons he never showed much. He may have been selected in this years rule 5 had they not traded him. They got something rather than nothing.
  14. It’s disappointing because the Sox didn’t really get any big free agents, but Swanson wasn’t really at the top of my list. It would have been a panic move to get him and get him while having to face those penalties. JDM actually makes sense now, not two months ago, but now he does. He will come cheaper than the QO, and could replace Hosmer as the DH, and is RH. I think JDM is in decline, but it might not be as pronounced as last year. He could look like more of his 2021 self. Let’s hope so. Because baring a trade (which seems unlikely for a premium player) no one is coming to save us.
  15. The farm is light years better, but marginally due to his trading which maybe added depth. Largely it’s been his drafting, IFA, and retention as well.
  16. Dear god…twice in one day? What is going on in the world. Hell yeah
  17. Then it will be a lot easier for the Sox to suck, this is the dice you roll in free agency, it can happen with MLB players too.
  18. Clear out payroll, rebuild the farm.
  19. Just remember, if Yoshida ever becomes the next Ichiro we can at least fall back on the “well he could of had him for less” argument. My guess is Yoshida had an asking price and the Sox met it cutting LA and SD out of the bidding, who knows what they would have paid for him. We will never know. But that’s not important, what is important is someone somewhere wrote that he was worth less than that. Now and forever.
  20. If that was the plan why not trade Bogey and Devers years ago when the return would have been much nicer? And her have his “own guys” in much sooner.
  21. Apparently the Blue Jays and the Dodgers were in on Yoshida as well.
  22. I suppose anything is possible, but as he smiling more than usual? I’m not sure I can tell the difference between a $90 million dollar smile and a $280 million dollar smile? Personally for me anything above the league minimum would make me smile just as big.
  23. I think the clients pay the agent not the team. Anyways I thought you were talking about the posting fee which I believe does to the team in Japan, no?
  24. P.s. I’ll donate another $100 to Jude’s if anyone can figure out my last reference.
  25. Wait a minute it was YOU? This was the thing that made me challenge you to name your starting outfield without Kike. Dude, why didn’t you just name drop Beni then? I would of happily donated $100 to St. Jude’s. Of note, I donated $375 last month anyways. I may be an ******* but I’m not a %100 dick
