  1. This is a great reminder to all you people to not forget to work on your grip strength. One of the biggest causes of elbow injuries is weak forearm strength. Yes, we don’t all play 2nd for the Sox but I’m assuming there are a few Tennis players, Golfers, and weight lifters in here.
  2. I agree. I was the cheer leader for Story staying at 2nd because of his elbow.
  3. I think there’s a difference between a realistic chance and “mathematical chance” a very big difference.
  4. Of all the vast anti-bloom arguments we’ve had in here I think it’s rehashing a point I tried to make that didn’t seem to resonate then but perhaps now. People love to have a scapegoat in front of them blame, when in reality there’s a blame pie. Bloom aside (because it’s discussed in perpetuity in here and I don’t want this post to be about that) there’s also scouting staff, medical staff, and player development personal that app have profound impacts on the big league club. You got to make sure you’re paying the rights ones to stay. A team is a whole organization.
  5. In hindsight, it would have been a really really really good decision.
  6. I can get the criticism for signing Story in the first place with these concerns BUT complaining about the timing is just stupid built on top of stupid. Surgery is always a last resort, and often can be avoided, sometimes unfortunately this is NOT the case. We have no ideal how Story looked a few months ago, some who suggest he should have just had surgery sooner when it’s a maybe he recovers because it can make a fans life easier has got to be the thing most lacking of empathy you can think of. Not surprised by where it’s coming from on this forum. Even simple surgeries can go wrong, people die from basic procedures everyday in this country, and there’s a whole host of infections that a very dangerous that come with surgery as well. Also, hospitals have been backed up and strained lately with procedures being put off and back up. Again, I get the anger over the signing, but questioning the timing I hope people reconsider. I know no one changes their opinions on anything in here but now would be a nice time for people to basic good human beings.
  7. Chris Sale was always talked about a guy who’s delivery and body would eventually lead to elbow problems. For this very same reason, I was against DD extending him. I thought we should have moved on while we had the chance. Turns out I was right. Great trade, horrible signing.
  8. You’re right, and you know what….I’m pretty pissed about them signing some guy In 2024 who is going to get hurt in 2026. Mine as well just get it out of the way now
  9. Bogaerts was good enough to play SS and was young and hungry. Now he’s a Vet and paid, I’m pretty positive when his defense slips enough to make a move to third more sensical he would be open to it. Let’s say Bogaerts resigned here and his defense looked bad 3 years from now. If the team sat him down and said “we are going to play Mayer at 3Rd” you’re still the heart and soul of this team but this team will be at its best with you at 3Rd” he’d move to third. He’s a pro. He’s not dumb, he’d do it.
  10. There’s always SOMETHING on a medical. Talk to someone who does imaging for a living, there’s no such thing as a perfect specimen. You have no ideal how an abnormality will progress of if inflammation will be successfully resolved without surgery OR get worse. Also, just because someone gets injured now, doesn’t mean something would have showed up on his medicals in the past. Things can appear, or progress over time.
  11. You think injuries follow a timeline that appeases fans?
  12. I said it before and I’ll say it again, Story is not your starting SS in 2023. Unbelievable. Let’s just tank and watch Bloom walk away. Get some pics, play the kids, get some pics, come back strong in 2024. Ok, maybe that’s an option overreaction.
  13. I wouldn't mind 2 years for Andrus, especially if we want to stay under the cap. It would be nice to have a few million to play with to possibly take on Salary at the deadline in a trade. I'm not sure how that happens unless you're trading for a cost-controlled SS. They might be able to structure an Andrus contract with a lower AAV that gives him a buyout if he wants to hit FA again next year. I think they end up trading for a guy.
  14. Agreed. Lopez is the guy you trade for when you team looks like it does in 2016/2017.
  15. I don't think Lopez is a true TOTRS by any means but that doesn't mean he's a back end either. He's a solid #2 pitcher on most teams, and he would have been the ACE of this staff last year.
  16. Well how much WAR do you expect from a bench guy? also, he only has 251 plate appearances outside of Boston. Technically as a 22 year old rookie brought up fast he had a -.7 Fwar, in Boston for 3 years (one of them being a shorten seasoned) he's put up 1.2 WAR and projects for 1.3 FWar next year. That's fine for a bench bat. Not highly valuable, but definitely not DFA'able either.
  17. I still think they go out and get a SS, by trade or they just sign Andrus.
  18. I've never liked the urge to want to inflict harm upon people in ways that are heinous and then dehumanize them to justify such things. I get it, there are some sick individuals (this is going beyond Bauer) that need to be removed from society, and people need to reap what they sow but as someone who has been sexually victimized when they were younger, I've come to view these types of things from a completely different perspective. One thing I've learned about life is that hurt people hurt people. Read that again. Hurt people, hurt people. Now I never raped anyone, touched a kid, or masturbated in public or any s*** like that but my early childhood trauma lead me down a path of many bad drug addictions and led to infidelity that destroyed many of my relationships, and so on and on. I never try to justify my actions when I was sick but I do try to understand them so I can heal. When I see someone like Bauer I see an *******...But I also see someone that was probably hurt in many ways as a child, or in some way was a victim of some kind of abuse. I see someone just like me...except perhaps he fell a little bit further than I ever did; my traumas never manifested into being an adult man who sexually abuses people, but I've had my own vices. I don't know if Bauer is really sorry, so I don't know if he truly deserves a second chance, I want to know if he's given himself a second chance. Maybe he just wants to say the right things and get some money. All I know is people are very good at pretending they are remorseful without making ANY changes, but at the same time, they are capable of a change of heart. At first glance, it's impossible to tell them apart sometimes. If you really cared about the victims, you wouldn't seek revenge, you would seek to build a world that creates fewer victims and that starts by addressing the vast mental health problems in this country.
  19. I Believe it's not right to assume people would root for a rapist just because he gets the results you want. This is a game, and the lives he destroyed is real life. I for one will turn off the TV on the days he pitches if he played for the Sox and I don't doubt a lot of other fans would be disgusted and not going to root for him. People can change, recover, make amends, and perhaps deserve second chances.....but I doubt he's there. Even if people deserve a second chance, it doesn't mean they're entitled to it from anyone in particular either.
  20. Good point, might I add, we are technically losing 2023 JD. If his drop-off in 2022 continues into 2023 he's barely a regular anymore.
  21. I for one can’t believe the Sox are shopping Casas, rather teams may be requesting him. That doesn’t mean the Sox would t move him in the right deal but if he was on the mock why DFA Hosmer? Is Dalbec the starting 1B? Or is it going to be Turner? I think the Sox try to get a deal done for a SS that does not involve Casas.
  22. I like to think of it as playing the lottery. You lost two tickets that gave you a 5% chance of hitting big and got two back in return that give you a 1%. Numbers are obviously not quantified.
  23. The AAV is 17+ for 2023 and the deal is a 10 year that kicks in after next season. The Reason for the confusion is that it was initially reported incorrectly. Unless of course the reporting correcting the earlier reporting turns out to be wrong as well, which I doubt at this point, but it wouldn't be a very big shock either. We should have clarity soon.
  24. To be fair, we won't have a good ideal for a few years.
  25. Oh without a doubt, and I have no doubt that it can't exacberate realities. In other words, I think he knew before the game that they needed to make a very strong real push to resign Devers and sooner than later. This may have been an exception. The fan base needed a win, we finally got one. One! we have ONE people.
