  1. Add: If I was a betting man, I would bet the opposite here, because we've seen the market for position players has been sky high this year and the Red Sox have been said to value Duran very highly. They could be waiting to see who losses out on the Kyle Tucker sweepstakes, because one of those teams might up their offer when that happens. Sox should get a haul for anyone of their outfielders.
  2. But we didn't have Roman Anthony coming into the mix last year. You have one more starter in the outfield so 2026 is a little different.
  3. Not specifically Sox related but does anyone else find it odd that there has seemingly been ZERO reporting on this years top free agent Kyle Tucker????
  4. That 2% spread over 4 years has a cumulative effect. If the Sox acted like that 5 years ago the 2026 roster would be 10-15% better today. That could be the difference between a 84-86 win team vs. an 90-92 win team. This problem becomes much more solvable if John Henry would just open up his wallet every once in a blue moon. It would be the easiest thing to just go out sign Bichette, get his prime years and be done with it.
  5. Cora has recently said Abreu has graduated from platoon status. Whether they actually are confident giving him more at bats vs. LHP or the FO has told him someone is getting traded and he will start we do not know. But we do know is we have 4 starting outfielders for 3 positions. The Sox are most likely going to trade one of those guys. Whatever argument anyone can come up with to why a guy should not be traded, is also the argument for why they should get a better return for them.
  6. First off, let me reiterate the comment "one of those guys" to which you specifically seem to defend the ideal of trading Rafaela "ok so trade Duran then" lol. It's not like what I'm saying is far fetched, it has been suggested and predicted by just about every single pundit out there that the Sox will trade from their outfield depth. Right now, I'd say it would make more sense to trade from your surplus to plug up a hole E.G. 3B or 2B. but if they went out and signed one of those guys a trade still makes sense for assets. You have a clear defined spot for Yoshida on your roster who isn't prototypical or elite but he is a good hitter at DH. I also disagree that keeping farm assets and restocking the farm isn't in the best interest of being in a "championship window" Teams in championship windows trade for elite assets at the deadline, something you won't be able to do with a depleted farm and would certainly have an easier time doing over your competition with a deeper farm. What if Crochet goes down, or Anthony, or Story or whoever? It's not like high end prospects are just trophy's you put on the wall to show your friend how cool your prospects are. They're used to trade for MLB pieces and provide depth when guys get hurt.
  7. You’re right they did. I’d feel very uncomfortable with anything over 5 years with him
  8. Did he even have a 6 year offer last year? and he's one year older
  9. I do not believe the Sox are going to get two of Marte/Bregman/Bichette. They're only getting one of those guys and I think Bregman is currently the favored odds.
  10. At this time of year, there's a thousand different "reports" every media body on earth has their guys writing columns with every mixture of rumor, suggestion and hearsay. But yeah, I've also mainly heard they're looking for pitching.
  11. Yup, I do think they want Mayer too. I don't remember the package but it was reported that they were looking for Mayer/Tolle and I think a lot of people would just be willing to give AZ whatever they would ask for.
  12. There's no way in heck that's going to happen. Lets not be unrealistic. One is long shot enough at this point. Also, despite it being controversial here, I want Mayer to play I want room for the youngsters to grow alongside some Vets added to the lineup. Contreras and Bregman fit the bill to go along with Roman Anthony/Marcel Mayer.
  13. No you'd need one, but there's the consensus in here that you'd have to trade Mayer to get Marte, or at the very least that is the demand. If you true, you'd need to get two.
  14. I highly doubt they're going to add two more infielders. I think it's one and done. I'm ok with Bregman/Marte/Bichette I just don't think they're going to do it unless they clear out some more payroll. Then again, if Mayer is a platoon player you need two more infielders right now not 1 which makes this trade even more vaible then. As you could trade for Baty and sign someone like Bo
  15. I've been pretty clear on it not having to be Duran, but having 4 starting caliber outfielders and only 2 - 2/3 infielders makes the solution pretty obvious.
  16. What about a Brett Baty for Jarren Duran trade? Solves the OF logjam and fills in the infield nicely. Baty/Story/Mayer/Contreras is a nice mix of youth and veteran leadership and should be the best infield defense we've had in years.
  17. Reportedly they're out of the Marte market after trading for Contreras. Leading me to believe they're more in on Bregman than Marte.
  18. They probably want to spread out how the aquire talent. They've already used up a lot of prospect capital this offseason, so it could be a signal that they're ready to spend on and IF.....or not.
  19. You have 4 starting caliber players for 3 positions. I don't understand the "you don't do this" argument when that's literally what you do. That's what teams do, when they have surplus they trade it.
  20. Ok, so then you trade Duran. You don't need a starter sitting the bench when you have holes elsewhere on the roster. Also, teams that win the world series typically make moves at the deadline. Craig is obviously not afraid to make moves, if given the green light by managment I would like him to have som ammunition in July.
  21. I think they still have to trade from their outfield surplus. Duran, Rafaela, Anthony, and Abreu. I think you got to view those 4 as starters and trade one not named Anthony. Rafaela/Duran saves you $6.25/$7.7 in money so those two make the most sense. you could logically trade one of those guys for a prospect haul to restock your farm and use the savings to invest in a Bichette/Bregman FA. I’d still be interested in Marte, but I wonder if the Sox can stomach a further depletion of the farm and given the cost to acquire talent you’d think Marte would cost a random. really makes me think what Duran could get them in a return. theres been a lot of speculation about whether or not Casas is going to be ready by opening day. I think this seals his fate in WOO. If the stay is long enough the Sox will gain an extra year of control. Casas will need to hit his way back……and I hope he does
  22. I mean, Alonso was my first choice but I could like Contreras more if it mean they’re going to go out and get one of Bregman/Bichette/Marte
  23. Also better than what was left on the market, and it improves the infield defense.
  24. Sounds like the Sox are pulling out of trade talks for Marte
