  1. I’m sure I won’t get credit for this, and that is 100% fair because who the hell remembers specific points other posters have made eons ago? Or at least the vast majority of them. But this firing could be in line with my theme all along. Bloom was brought in to build the team up into a sustainable winner. Rebuild the farm and the younger part of the organization. I had theorized that while he may be the guy for that job, he may lack the fortitude or ability to take them over that hump and when the Sox feel they’re in a better position to build a better team now they will switch directions and move on from Bloom. It was the same thing with Charington to Dave. Ben lacked that ability a young team and a strong farm and go for it by bringing in pieces to build a winner. Bloom kept the right guys (minus maybe Betts) and built up the farm. Now we are seeing those guys reach the majors with the next crop right there behind them. Maybe others aren’t as optimistic but I truly feel this club is only a few pieces, albeit big pieces away from being a very good team. Bloom will deserve partial credit if the Sox spring back into a first place team next year. But he obviously lacks the balls to go out and make the big time moves that the Sox need right now. Perhaps this my own self delusion, perhaps I’m completely wrong. But I take his firing as a sign that Henry is ready to take this team to another level. He wants a guy in that position who is going to come in and add a big time pitcher, maybe even a big RHH bat. Bloom wasn’t that guy. I hope his firing means Henry is ready to go in that direction and make a big splash. This team is just a few pieces away from adding around Bello/Whitlock/Houck/Casas/Wong/Duran/Mayer to be a very good team. I defended Bloom more than the average man, but I’d be the first to admit he came without fault and made some sizable blunders. I hope my prediction is correct, in that Henry has finally regrown his balls and he wants to invest in this team and restore them to greatness. We shall see. Regardless, a change was needed. Whether you hated, disliked, liked, or were neutral on Bloom it was apparent some kind of change was needed. A change of direction, and for better or worse this change signifies a HOPE that this organization is about to get better.
  2. True, but the man who mandated he traded Mookie is the one in charge of finding his replacement. Better hope he learned from his mistakes.
  3. Staying logged in so I don't have to see someones post who I have blocked.....My day keeps getting better. Please, no one quote it.
  4. You have misinterpreted my post. I will bring in a dietician to make sure they all fatten up. Fridays are now ICE CREAM SOCIALS!!!!
  5. If this is true, and it may be, then Kennedy lied....or at the very least misled us. Because he made it sound like they don't only not know who it will be but that the search may take them a long time.
  6. I would like to submit my application to replace Bloom. What I will do to the 2024 team. I will bring in two starting pitchers who are of ACE caliber. I will make the defense up the middle and in the outfield better I will keep the farm intact. I will invest more money and resources in the scouting department. Both at the amateur level to draft better and be more successful at identifying pitchers, and also at the Milb and MLB level to better identify guys who can be fixed or who provide more of an opportunity to produce higher value than their market value will compared to the ability of other teams to do such. I will invest heavily in the best dieticians, and strength and conditioning coaches at ALL Levels from the Florida complex leagues up to the MLB level. with the goal of improving total health outcomes, reducing injuries, and maximing athletic performance. I will give weekly press conferences and take questions directly from the media with full transparency.
  7. New Prediction. 2024 will be the year the Red Sox return to glory and become a serious world series contender. But there will be lots of shadows of Bloom on that team that spark the ultimate debate in here. There will be blood.
  8. I dont' f***ing know now. But he WAS the GM before Bloom was fired, and this seems like a temporary position. If he's not the GM under the new guy does he get promoted, demoted, or fired? I would imagine if he's being tasked to be the new Chief baseball officer that they're somewhat happy with the job he's done to entrust him there.
  9. Ok, people do realize that the Red Sox changed the role of the GM back when Dave Dombrowski took over? Brian O'Hallaran was already the GM. He wasn't promoted to GM, and he's likely not going to get demoted and LOSE his position as GM. What the GM does on many teams and here in the past when guys like Theo were GM has been handled by the "president of operations" or the "Chief Baseball Officer". Brian is taking over, there's no rule 4 or 5 or even trades that can take place so it's not like he has a ton of franchise-altering work in front of him. By the time the world series is over and the winter meetings have started the Sox will likely of hired CHaim's replacement and who knows what they will call that role but he will NOT be the G.M. unless fired it will remain Brian. I know this seems like a moot point, but these things matter.
  10. No he's ALREADY the GM and he's going to REMAIN the GM.
  11. Yes, he’s retaining his current position AS GM and taking over Blooms duties as interim director of baseball operations while they search for a new director of baseball operations. Or whatever they want to call it
  12. That's very poor on the scouting scale for poster credibility.
  13. Just double checked, he is the and has been the GM. It sounds like he's taking over Blooms responsibilities while they look for other options.
  14. Isn't he already the GM? Bloom was never the GM.
  15. Also, if true, it could very likely be an interim position while they search for a more long term option. As you had suggested.
  16. on the soxprospects forum from a poster so take it as a MASSIVE grain of salt.
  17. I just checked your posting history, you attack people's opinions differently from your own all the time. As does Moon, as do I, as does pretty everyone in here. The "I'm a victim" because your opinion is attacked is just a weak form of an argument. Although to be fair, people slinging insults and some of the things said towards you are as well.
  18. Brian O'Hallaran has been offered the position allegedly.
  19. I was never the biggest Bloom hater, but this firing signals Henrys acceptance that it is time for a change in direction. I welcome this. I too shall drink in celebration tonight. Whiskey? Wine? or a nice IPA? Might even put in a little 420. I drink in celebration because I am even more confident in my prediction of adding top-notch starting pitchers this offseason. I will accept your apologies now for doubting me.
  20. I might have been misinterpreting Moons' post, but I was trying to say that the Sox are better at those positions overall.
  21. Did I say in the middle of next year? I meant to say this year. Look at my tag line below. I would like to DOUBLE DOWN ON THIS!!! I predict one of the reasons Bloom is fired is because Henry wants big moves now and he knows Bloom is not the guy. Just like DD replaced Ben to make the moves that needed to be made so too with his successor....or not.
  22. People do view admitting mistakes as a sign of weakness, which is a huge problem with our society. Certainly don't want to steer the conversation toward politics but I've never heard ONE politician ever admit they made a mistake which is beyond frustrating. Admitting you made a mistake, means you know you made a mistake, knowing you made a mistake means you can LEARN FROM IT!!!! Imagine if baseball players played like that. Pitcher throws 20 curveballs in a row and just gave up back to back to back to back home runs so he thinks to himself "hmmmmmm, I should really try to throw this curveball even better this time!!!!!" it's such a stupid frame of mind to have but it's ingrained everywhere.
  23. Where? We need to go there and kill those opinions too then.
  24. Moon also almost never personally insults people or use foul language. Unlike some posters in here!!! and yes, I'm talking about myself here. I'm a dick sometimes. At least I admit it.
  25. I actually wouldn't have a problem with him playing some SS too, he's supposedly an above-average defender there as well. A guy who can play plus defense at SS/CF and is RH would have been exactly what we needed most of this year at various times.
