If you told me at any point in the season we'd go 4-3 against a tough stretch I'd be more than thrilled. Take 4 out of 7 all year long and you win 92-93 games and you're in the playoffs. The problem is the Sox have run out of time. They have to be better than a playoff team right now, they have to get scortching hot.

Yeah, there's not going to be any comp picks. Comp picks are given to teams who extend a qualifying offer to a player, said player turns it down, AND signs with another team. A Q.O. will be apx $20 million dollars. I'm not sure there's anyone on this team they offer that too. Maybe Piveta, not because you want to pay him $20 a year, but if you did want to sign him to 3-4 years and you wanted to kill his market then maybe..maybe??? If a QO scares off other teams, I can see him getting a 4/50. $12.5 million a year is a good deal for even a back of the rotation starter. I'm also not 100% unconvinced he can't be dominate in a bullpen role in a few years and those guys get $20+ in FA in todays game.

You lose an extra year, but you worry about that 6 years from now, you possibly gain a PPI pick, maybe two given Anthony's talent. The Sox thoughts on this could be a driving force towards any possible trades this offseason. I think it's going to be interesting.

That's my point, givin recent precedent, it doesn't seem like the Sox are going to hold him back unless he really struggles in ST. If he's mashing they're going to look at starting him. Perhaps, if they don't trade any outfield depth and theres a full bill of health I could be wrong. But I think there's a very good chance he starts.

I mean, I don’t want to advocate trading Duran. They certainly do have plenty of other assets to acquire pitching. But I certainly would NOT complain if they parted with Jarren for a young ACE. sox have lots of OF depth. sox have very little high end pitching. the math adds up.

I think it’s very possible this is Jarren Durans best season. but he adds value in so many ways that his floor is high. I can see him easily being a 3 war player every year for the next 5 years.

Sox didn’t hold back Rafaela last year, if Anthony is mashing and they think he can help them on day one, why would they do that with him? P.S. Anthony has no splits, he mashed both LHP/RHP with Caminero graduating Roman Anthony now sits as the #1 prospect in all of baseball. The offseason may be very interesting

yeah that makes sense, they had that good run in the middle of the season right before the all star break. But they seemingly never had that 10 game win streak. Actually, not seemingly, they didn't. 5 it is.

Hey the White Sox have beat the Orioles, Twins, Astros, Guardians, Royals and the Yankees at various times this year. Bad teams will beat good teams, it's a 162-game schedule and these are still professional players. Sweeping, even a lowly team is very hard. If this was a month or two ago, I wouldn't be disappointed with taking 2 out of 3 but at this point in the season you pretty much have to just win. I know the Sox had a good stretch, but now I'm questioning what's the most games in a row they won this year? It never felt like they truly got really hot at any point.

I wonder if Jansen could be had on a 1-2 year deal. Perhaps the Sox see him matching up better splitting catching duties with Teel than they do Wong. Wong is under team control for a while, so perhaps he's worth taking a longer look at to see if he can regain some of that CS magic, but the framing skills have never been there.

Fitts has a 4.17 ERA vs. AAA hitters and comes up and pitches ok vs. an historically horrible team. I'd say "meh" is pretty fair. I think dick will fit right into an MLB team as a 5th starter swingman type. He can throw innings and can build some type of value. But he'll never be a stud, and the Sox have middling to back of the rotation starters, they need studs. I'd be a little bit more excited if Houck/Bello were pitching lights out like a 1-2, the Sox were in the playoffs and Fitts was adding innings filling out the rotation, but here we are.

If you compare the Sox staff to even playoff teams they’re not far off. of you take out Criswell and add Sale to the season the starting staff would have the 2nd highest FWar. Sox need to add a TOTR starter this offseason, and a good #2. That makes the pitching post season worthy. if Houcks growth is real and Bello gets even a little better that’s a World Series rotation

I feel most people understand what said player did from 30-34 is more predictive of who they are at 35 than what they did from 25-29.

Meidroth hasn't played in a few days and I believe he might be out of the lineup again tonight. Is he banged up? I doubt we see him, I don't think we see any guys who aren't on the 40 right now

I think what keeps Mayer 2nd above Campbell is the fact that he definively has a home at SS and has the potential to have a plus glove there, that plus he has more power potential. Campbell is also older, if Mayer went to college he would have just been drafted and might not of even played a game of minor league ball yet. It's easy to forget how young guys when they're highschool draftees and they spend a few years in the system. FWIW, Campbell was a draft eligible sophmore, and was a good year younger than the typical draftee out of college. Making his rise that more impressive.

I get it I do, I just feel Meidroth is getting there because he's a high floor guy without much of a ceiling. I could see him becoming a super utility 2 War type for a few years in his peak, and if that's the 9th best guy in your system you're doing something right. I'm a dreamer, I like a guy with upside. A good bench bat like a good middle reliever can be very valuable to a team, but a starter who adds value is better. I don't see Meidroth holding down a starting job in Boston.

Anyone can put up a .800 OPS in AAA, just ask Bobby Dalbec who has done it three years in a row. Not trying to compare the two, point is it MEANS something when he can do it in the majors. He has little power, makes weak contact, and every other tool is fringe average at best. I don't think his skills are going to convert over to the MLB level, at best he's a utility guy.

I just can't get too excited about Meidroth, but I'm an upside guy and he seems to have very little.

The pop ups are certainly concerning, but hasn't he also only had something like 25 at bats vs. anyone older than him at this point. This is why I'm still high on him, but he can start to slide quick in my book if he doesn't pick it up next year.

Massive????? hit, Castillo is more of a middle of the rotation starter at this point in his career. Seattle has pitching, they lack hitting more than any other team in MLB. Maybe dangle Abreu instead of Yoshida? Heck I'd give them both if they split the difference in the money.
