  1. If Anthony, Mayer, or Teel get 250 at bats in AAA I'd be very surprised. But yeah, a lot of things can happen for a lot of different reasons.
  2. Are you sitting Anthony vs. LHP???
  3. His brother WAS considered the better prospect, but things are interesting now, unfortunately Johanfran hasn't been able to show us anything this year. Both these guys are still very far away and a lot can happen, but have two brothers ever been top 100 prospects before? it would be pretty cool. It would be pretty cool to see them both on the same team in Boston some day as well. Of course I the Sox can always go the Bogaerts route like they did when they traded Jair, but he was never highly regarded nor did he ever play in the majors.
  4. I also don't think the talent level in AAA is what it used to be, I suspect he won't spend much time in AAA when he gets there.
  5. That's one guy for one game, I'd be interested to see what Kutter looks like as well as the rest of the rotation a few times through with some extra rest.
  6. This is pretty much the way I see it as well.
  7. And Abreu plays the field more with plus D in right, Ref isn't as bad in left field as he is in right. That platoon would still round out to be plus D.
  8. Agreed with all. RF is probably Anthony’s best fit
  9. That’s a fair point, and how can you let him work on it when someone like Ref is just so good against lefty’s???? Makes you wonder if he is trade bait. We don’t know how any particular team values a certain player. But anyone who is convinced Abreu can adjust to hitting LHP probably sees a potential all star caliber player. Would make for a nice piece in a trade. I’m not 100% convinced Anthony starts in Boston next year, nor am I convinced he won’t struggle for a while until he adjusts, so I’m not sold that this offseason is the time to do so
  10. I truly believe the rotation is just a little fatigued. I also think giving these guys some rest can help them end the season on a high note and leave them prime for the playoffs. The solution may be a 6 man rotation for a while, whether that be Criswell, or Winckowoski, or someone like Fitts/Priester if they look primed. That would be equivalent, or essentially is adding a 4/5 starter. But if that guy rounds out a 6 man it might make the guys at the top better
  11. Feels like some combination of a Mayer/Anthony/Teel promotion is imminent.
  12. I read this as, he can be average to fringe average in center, maybe passable at worse....but can be plus on the corners.
  13. That's also a small sample size, 27 ab's in 2018, 31 ab's in 2019 and 73 at bats in 2021 in high A. The fact he got worse as the competition is telling, but not a nail in the coffin either. After seeing Durans progression, I have convinced myself anything can happen.
  14. Exactly, if Abreu ever Wilyer ever learns to hit lefties we have a stud, if not, a Refsnyder/Abreu platoon is like having an outfielder batting AVG/OBP/SLG .301/.375/.572 good for a .947 OPS with 17 HR. with average to better defense. That's elite.
  15. For Abreu to be the best bat in the outfield he will have to hit better than .433 OPS. Vs. LHP
  16. IDK, he did say he liked the trade, he just didn’t get the Yorke hate around here. I can agree with that. While Yorkers value wasn’t at an all time high, he obviously rebuilt a lot of it. Just because the Sox traded him doesn’t mean they didn’t like him either That goes for every player the Sox trade away too, or at least 99% of them.
  17. I think Cespedes will be fine at 2nd, but if he hits as he's supposed to he will be just as fine in the outfield. Mickey Romero is starting to turn things around down in the farm and Franklin Arias is another guy who may have a huge ceiling up the middle and unlike Yorke (and seemingly everyone else) he's right handed.
  18. It's 10X easier to find another Yorke than it is another Priester. Priester is arguably a much better prospect, and Yorke doesn't really have a future in Boston. He's redundant, He doesn't have much over the fence power, he's a hit first prospect who hasn't hit in over two years except for the past month, and his defense is fringe average at best. We also have several prospects who will probably make a better second baseman than he will, some with a LOT more potential coming up behind him. I'd make this trade over and over and over again if I could. Priester might not become a TOTRS, but if you make several moves like this.....one of those guys will.
  19. Kind of seems that this was one of those hitting for pitching trades we always talk about finally coming to fruition. If anything, we need more trades like this.
  20. MLB Pipeline ranked him #60 last year.
  21. Zeferjahn, Kavadas, Lugo and Yeferson Vargas is the cost. There’s your rule 5 crunch trade right there. Also, Sox will need room on the domestic reserve list too with all 20 draftees signing. I don’t hate this trade
  22. I wanna guess someone like Guerrero, Hickey, and Sogard. With Yorke out it Opens the door for a Teel/Mayer/Anthony promotion
  23. Seriously though, hearing three prospects from Worcester were traded for Garci
  24. 1 for 1
  25. Sox sending Roman Anthony to LA for Garcia
