  1. It would do the fans much better if these guys learned to be good here.
  2. I became a Red Sox fan in 1993 watching Scott Cooper make a diving play at 3B.
  3. I think it would help if threads stayed on topic. For example, we have a thread about the Chris Sale trade that has lasted way too long and gets way too much attention. Half that stuff could go into the realistic thread (which is pretty much a general thread) or perhaps even start one about the 2024(5) rotations.
  4. Yup, wow. I didn't realize it had been only 8 years. Feels longer.
  5. I mean 3 last place finishes in 4 years? Maybe the system hasn’t been working that great.
  6. I’m currently at a “business” lunch. When I get back in the office I’ll check. I forget when they shut down. I thought it was over a decade ago. Feels so long, like a distant dream.
  7. Despite the name they do talk about the big league club, but it’s certainly more geared towards the farm system. To be honest I probably should expand my horizons as I’ve been more about soxprospects. But I recently started listening to Section 10 and I’m instantly a big fan. They swear a lot.
  8. I’ve been here for over a decade after the great migration from Boston.com I thoroughly enjoy the insight and the banter from everyone on here, even from the people that butt heads with. I promise I don’t hate anyone, I’m just a brash A$$ hat sometimes. We are all part of Red Sox nation and ultimately want the same thing. The next World Series win. I welcome the changes and look forward to what’s to come. I also love the expansion into social media.
  9. You don't have to bring an 18 year old up, jump him ahead FOUR levels, burn a 40 man spot and screw up his development to go out and trade for pitching. Especially when you have a top prospect in the game who should be ready next season. Probably could play now if they really wanted him too.
  10. Yeah, but have they ever done it with an 18 year old a month out of the complex league? Even half as extreme measures often end badly.
  11. You make it sound like no big deal....yet no one does this? why?
  12. Then you're going to have to carry him on the 40 man and burn all his option years before he's MLB ready. Or what? carry a defensive SS who his OPS .400 Also, just because he has the makings of an above average defender DOESN'T mean he doesn't have anything to work on defensively, he's certainly not a finished product by any means. And it's also still not 100% out of the question that he has to move to 2nd, thought he he can probably stick at short. He has a 60 grade on his defense, so he's good but not elite there. Has anyone ever jumped to the majors from low A after only spending 20 games out of the complex league???
  13. He's literally only 70 at bats out of a complex league playing with a bunch of teenagers. This is literally the perfect plan to absolutely destroy someones development.
  14. I want Rafaela in CF, but he was much better at SS after his first few weeks there. I also don't mind postional versatility, but yes I'd much rather have Story/Mayer there in 2025.
  15. That's a great way to absolutey destroy someones development. If things are so bad, you're considering calling up an 18 year old prospect in A ball, then that's probably more reason why you SHOULDN'T call up the 18 year old in A ball.
  16. Rafaela gets harshly penalized at SS because he wasn’t very good when he first started playing there for about two weeks. But after he shook the rust off he’s been solid there, not elite like he is in CF but he’s been fine. Certainly better than Dham
  17. Good add, although I'm happy the Sox have owned them in the playoffs recently. Still, they're an example of sustained success. Sox are well on their way their, but teams like NY and LAD don't reset, sell everyone off and make themselves suck for 1/2 a decade to get good again. That's not "sustainable" success.
  18. SD doesn't have anything to show for it, Yes they're good, but in their division it will be hard to not be a wild card team and their window might be closing in a few years as well. Farm system is going downward and they literally had to take out a loan to make payroll last year. That isn't sustainable. I'm not trying to kick them, they're obviously a good team, but unlike Houston they have nothing to show for it it. If teams want to advocate spending and sustainable success, the Los Angeles Dodgers are a better model.
  19. Luis Perales was well on his way to being a top 100 prospect before he went down with an injury.
  20. But it's not just the 1st pick, Houston was notorious for signing guys underslot and spreading the money around. When the Astros drafted and signed Lance MCcullers Jr in the supplemental round they gave him double slot value. They did this because Correa took 1.5 million less than Bryon Buxton at #1. Some of their "busts" if you want to call it that were also parts of trades for guys like Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole, and Ken Giles. They also used their farm to trade for guys like Gatis, Maldonado, as well as drafting guys like Carlos Correa, Lance McCullers Jr, Alex Bregman and Kyle Tucker.
  21. The seperation in the top 10 is so small, as evidence by Campbells addition rising the Sox to the top 5. Makes you wonder if someone like Perales didn't go down how much higher they could have been, maybe even top 3. But I suppose every organization has fast risers who go down and lose guys during the year.
  22. Houston also hasn't had a last place farm system for very long, up until recently they've had one of the best farm systems for years. That's because they had almost an entire decade of good higher draft picks with the height being between 2012-2015 when they had the first overall pick THREE years in a row and then the 2nd pick in 2015. Those were the farm systems yielding those reinforcements, things might look very different for the Astros going forward as their window may be closing. Sox have a 5th-7th best farm according to people, and this is a new development as up until recently they've sucked. Henry can certainly find a way to pinch his pennies out of a competitive team but the Sox are better positioned over the next 5 years than the Astros are.
  23. Never realized Betts was so superstitious like that. Hey no one is perfect, we all got character flaws and I’m the last one to throw rocks…….and I can’t hit a 90 mph fastball
  24. If Judge did it I'd have the same exact opinion.
