  1. Kimbrel's pattern in recent years seems to be very good in the fjrst half of the season, then wearing down as the season progresses. I saw him pitch the other night. His four seamer was only hitting 92 mph. That is an alarming drop in velocity. Indicates either something wrong physically or maybe just washed up. Either way, he should consider hanging them up. Jansen seems to be holding up better, but I would still be hesitant to re-sign Kenley at this point of his career.
  2. Maybe the Sox could trade Casas to Seattle for right hander Bryan Woo. If he doesn't pitch well in Boston, they could option him to Triple A. It would read, Woo 2 Woo.
  3. John Henry will decide just how much money is going to be spent. Don't know how flexible he will be. But let's not act like he has any ability to judge baseball talent. He has none. That is strictly up to the G.M., the manager and the various baseball people in the organization.
  4. Is ESPN making book now ? I would like to get a bet down and take a shot with those odds. My local bookie, Paul " Needle Nose" Minagge, just laughed when I asked him about it.
  5. I give a lot of credit to guys like Jansen and Kimbrel ( and to a lesser extent Aroldis Chapman) who have been successful for so long doing a difficult job , with a pretty high attrition rate. But age and wear and tear take a toll. Contender or not, I think it is time to move on. There are young fireballers who can reach triple digits coming along quite frequently these days. Get one.
  6. I thought it was really a ha!f-hearted attempt by Bello. Looked like he really did not want to do it. There shouldn't be any punishment for being honest.
  7. The Chicago White Sox, arguably the worst team in MLB history, announced that they are planning on cutting payroll in 2025.
  8. Part of it could be the bullpen wearing down as the season progresses. The starters just don't go deep in games very often. The pen is called upon a lot. However, I don't know why this would happen to the Sox more than the other teams.
  9. Being a playoff team is not what it used to be. The bar has been lowered considerably. I don't know if it has been lowered enough for this year's Sox team.
  10. Very nice bounce back win for N.D. Dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Makes you wonder what happened in the previous game.
  11. At least we haven't reached the tragic number countdown stage as yet. And the remaining schedule is not too difficult. Keep the large woman away from the mike.
  12. I'd like to see more of Guerrero. He looks like he has better stuff than most of the ham and eggers in the Sox bullpen.
  13. That is an idea that has been talked about a lot. But it has not caught on much with MLB managers. Part of the reason is that it causes problems of when to get a guy loosening up and when to start throwing hard, etc. The guys in the bullpen need to have an idea of when they are coming in. You don't want guys getting up and down in the seventh inning in case they may be coming in. And you can't always predict where the batting order will be two or three innings ahead. What you really need is more than just one or two guys who can get some tough outs.
  14. No doubt the Sox would like to see Rafaela improve his plate discipline. And no doubt he would be a better hitter and more valuable to the team if he did. That being said, the idea of benching him or sending him to Worcester at this point is preposterous.
  15. Intentional walk in the fourth inning , with one out and no one on ? What in the world was that ? Chicken ala Cole? The Yankees were beat right then and there.
  16. Winning the next two games is nearly impossible? I think you are getting a little carried away.
  17. Tanner Houck has " right shoulder fatigue". Fitts takes his place tonight.
  18. Houck scratched from tonight's start due to " right shoulder fatigue". Fitts will take the mound.
  19. Just in case you needed another reason to hate the greedy Lords of Baseball, tonight's Red Sox/ Yankees game is exclusively on Apple+ TV.
  20. Agree. I would like to hear Cora's take on it. He will probably say what Illinois said about pick your poison. I think Soto was more dangerous in that situation.
  21. The pinch runner made a difference too. Torres may have been out had he tried to score on that.
  22. I'm not changing my position. I would have walked Soto. Just saying that if they had gotten Soto out, they would surely put Judge on.
  23. Yes. If he gets Soto , they definitely put Judge on.
  24. Would you have put Soto on ? Try for a double play with Judge ?
  25. Rafaela is a candidate for A.L. Rookie of the year. He probably won't win the award, but he is definitely in the running. He is not a finished product by any means, but saying that he is not ready for MLB doesn't make any sense.
