  1. I'd like to see him for a full season before making any proclamations about him, but he sure as s*** looks legit right now
  2. That Shreve/Gallegos for Voit trade was kind of an afterthought at the time, but it may have ended up the best trade the Yanks made at the deadline. Obviously Happ was a big trade too, but we expected him to be good. Voit just came out of nowhere.
  3. Didi says he thinks there's a high chance he's ready for the postseason - it's a pain tolerance issue. We'll see what happens but I wouldn't say he's "likely" out for the postseason.
  4. Well that was a fun game until the 7th inning. The place was vibrating after the Stanton GS. Went with a friend who is a Red Sox so I had to put up with his exuberance for quite awhile. But I guess it could always be worse: https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2796930-red-sox-fan-dies-after-being-electrocuted-train-surfing-after-game-vs-yankees
  5. I'll be one of those 40,000. The last two games have been great but an infinitesimal part of me kinda wanted them to clinch just so there was no possibility of me witnessing it in person.
  6. On paper they have the deepest team in baseball. Almost every player on their roster can be considered "above average". And since they won the WS last year, they should be the team to beat this year as well.
  7. Yesterday was kind of a fluke. They didn't hit great, but still hit 8 balls in play that were over 100MPH off the bat.. and they all went for outs. Sometimes s*** happens. Doesn't help that they've been playing .500 ball on top of that. At least Sevy looked better.
  8. Yes he was born in 1954 in Brooklyn, I think the Dodgers moved a few years later. And since his father was an immigrant who did not know anything about baseball, he had a choice between the Yankees and Mets. Definitely one of his best life choices.
  9. Luckily my dad was a Yankees fan and not a Mets fan. Otherwise I would always be miserable. For anyone not raised as a Yankees/Mets fan who has the choice between the two, what sane person would choose the Mets?
  10. Hechawhatever is just an extra guy to have in the dugout in September to play defense. Supposedly he can play multiple infield positions well, including 3rd (which I don't think Wade can play).
  11. Second prospect was Juan de Paula. Not a bad haul for the Giants, who would have otherwise gotten nothing for McCutchen after the season. Both players are top 30 prospects within the organization (high 20's) but were Rule 5 eligible after this season. Giants also ate some money to help with our LT situation. Pretty good trade for both sides.
  12. Yesterday's turn of events was a serious gut punch. If it wasn't for wanting to see McCutchen play tonight, I'd probably be taking a few day hiatus from watching baseball.
  13. Anybody is better than Shane Robinson
  14. Didi and Sanchez should be back this weekend. Replacing Higashioka with Sanchez and Voit/Torreyes with Didi are a couple of significant offensive upgrades. Time for the offense to get into a groove.
  15. I'm not falling for that trap again. Good Gray one good start does not make. Lynn looked good yesterday. Just some bad defense and seeing eye hits did him in. He has pitched as well as you can ask for a #5 starter.
  16. The Sox were undoubtedly the better team that series. But the Yankees had the head-to-head lead coming into that series. So what does that mean? Apparently nothing. Just like the Sox head-to-head advantage will mean nothing when they face off for 6 more games and possibly again in the playoffs. Both teams are pretty evenly matched when at full strength. As stressful as it would be for all of us, I think the baseball world deserves another NYY-BOS postseason series.
  17. Yanks have been playing well without Judge et al but yesterday really exposed their lineup. Rodon was good but still hittable.. when you have Luke Voit batting clean up you know there are problems.
  18. While I don't think learning English should be a requirement for living and working in the U.S., it certainly would be beneficial. Almost every higher earning job (besides being an athlete) and most above minimum-wage jobs in this country require you to know English.
  19. I feel like the same can be said of Pedroia nowadays
  20. We'll keep them handy for ya after the Sox have another early postseason exit
  21. I'm assuming Chapman hits the DL. All we need is a couple more SPs on the DL and we can field a full team!
  22. 10 day DL. Why not. Let's see how many players can land on the DL before this team starts scoring negative runs.
  23. Sale could either be fine or injured. It's like that Shrodinger's cat thing. They don't want the MRI because they fear what it may reveal.
  24. Donaldson at first would be pretty awesome, although I might prefer that they move Andujar there instead and save the money for other positions. I'd expect them to go in hard for Machado or Bryce, and probably try to re-sign one of Happ/Lynn or possibly go after Corbin. A 2019 lineup as follows would be pretty rad: 1. Hicks CF 2. Judge RF 3. Stanton DH 4. Didi SS 5. Machado 3B 6. Sanchez C 7. Torres 2B 8. Andujar 1B 9. Gardner/C Frazier LF
  25. It's all part of the plan for the greatest division comeback in history!!!
