Signing Kershaw would likely be a repeat of signing CC. He probably has a couple more years left being an ace but then we'll have to deal with his decline and bloated contract while he figures out how to pitch with a 91 mph fastball. So if we're in WIN NOW mode then getting him makes sense, but it would probably not be a great move long term. Also guys - only 151 days until Opening Day!!!

Nate pitched great this postseason but hard pass for me. Whoever signs him is going to have to pay out the ass for what he did in just half a season. And while the cutter has changed his repertoire a bit, I don't think the Yankees should dedicate THAT much of their cap to such a big risk. I think they get Corbin and then re-sign either Happ or CC. The Red Sox probably value Nate more than most other teams since he has proven he can pitch well against the Yankees and pitch well in Yankee stadium. 2018 Nate vs Yankees: 1.93 ERA & 0.77 WHIP 2018 Nate vs everyone else: 4.31 ERA & 1.24 WHIP I would be surprised if he does not return. But also glad.

Well to rephrase, your victories were cakewalks until Kimbrel made the games more interesting. In every one of your victories you went into the 9th inning with a multiple run lead. As Sox fans they may have felt more stressful for you, but anytime you go into the 9th inning with a 2+ run lead your odds of winning are more than 92%.

At this point it doesn't look like the opponent matters. Boston cakewalked through the second and third best teams in all of baseball. Playing an NL team is just like signing the paperwork to get the trophy. f***ers. Boston winning makes me illogically mad.

Machado is a definitely a punk. On that one collision with Aguilar on first though, Aguilar definitely left his leg on first base to try to initiate some kind of contact. Any experienced first baseman knows that you take your leg away from first as soon as you get the out.. not sure what he was trying to do. And Manny being the punk he is obliged and dragged his foot into him.

If Hank says screw it and lets Cashman go out and add $150M to our payroll then sure, why not. But since that probably is not the case, I think the money is best spent elsewhere. -
6-9 month recovery time for non-pitchers supposedly. Maybe they'll be in on Machado but since Didi won't be out the whole year they might just shift Torres over to short and get a cheaper fill in/bench player for 2nd (Jed Lowrie, Daniel Murphy, DJ LaMaheu or however the hell you spell it).

If I was only grading him for the postseason it would be a D+. No F because he managed the A's game very well. For the entirety of the season he was passable. Made some of the usual dumb mistakes that most managers encounter throughout a season, he just had them happen a few times too many. There were also games where he made all the right moves but they got zero play because when something goes right it's because of the players.. managers only get credit when something goes wrong.

There is a 1% chance that Boone does not come back. I'm almost certain there is an end of season meeting between the manager and GM. I'd imagine Boone's performance will be reviewed and they'll touch on the areas where they feel he can improve, most notably when to manage by feel vs when to manage by the analytics. He's a rookie manager so it's not like he can't improve. And despite some boneheaded moves this year, he was probably the second best rookie manager this season behind Cora. And Cora had experience coaching other aspects of a team so he wasn't as green as Boone. If I had to grade Boone's management for the ENTIRE season in my most unbiased attempt, I'd give him a C+.. maybe B-.

I could pretend to be gracious but I'm not. As Lombardi said, show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser. To get shutdown by two mediocre starters at home in the biggest spot of the year is a disaster. I'm gonna be hearing s*** from all my Sawx friends and co-workers for at least another year. f*** this. Boston played better and deserved to win based on how they played, that's all the praise I'll give. That said, all I can hope for now is that the Astros (a team I very much dislike) pummel them into the ground so at least all these Sam Adams breathing yokels can feel a modicum of my despair. /end rant

Boone's mistakes weren't as obvious as girardi's non-challenge last postseason but they were certainly just as egregious. After that game girardi apologized to the team and they rallied back to win the series. What is Boone going to do? My guess is he's locked himself in his office and is watching his walkoff ALCS HR vs Boston on repeat.

Let's see if Boone's strategy of "forfeit tonight's game let them use up all of their offense" pays off

Sacrificing defense for offense. Plus adding two lefties into the lineup at Yankee Stadium. I wouldn't call it a panic move, more like Nunez, Leon and Kinsler (to a lesser extent) have been sucking and they want to see if they can find a hot bat. Might have to do the same with Stanton if he keeps killing our rallies.

So much for that revamped Guardians' bullpen. The Stros' decimated them. I'd say that they have to be the overwhelming favorites to win the WS.
